The bright side of solar installations

Chris and the lads from Ward Electrical Contractors have done an absolutely fabulous job. Solar panels and equipment went in smoothly and without a fuss. They kept the site clean and organised throughout. Would highly recommend them to anyone wanting solar panels.

The one star isn’t for the lads who did…

The one star isn’t for the lads who did the work they were great , the one star is for the customer service it is absolutely disgusting, I got fans put into my property and the one in the kitchen was left with a switch the size of a brick and horrible trunking to cover the wires , I wasn’t happy about this and told them so it was ugly and I didn’t sign up for anything like that , as if I’d known I wouldn’t of agreed to have the fan installed. They agreed that they would come back to chase the wires into the wall , but I might just add that’s all they were planning to do I have to plaster and do whatever else needs doing . The first appointment was for the end of January…no show no explanation! The same another twice I’m ringing every day to be told they chasing it up and sorting a date for me to get it done …NO THEY ARE NOT !!!I was even told today to ring back after four to chase the girl to see if she had made the appointment, hence to say I’m at the end of my tether now , they were quick to do the initial work to get the grant money but they not willing to come and rectify work that isn’t right so anyone getting anything done be warned .

Our Electrical engineer Liam has done a fantastic job installing our storage heaters, solar panels 3x battery’s and inverter, it was a tall order and due to one of his team being poorly he completed the job almost all single handed, very hard worker! One of the days he worked in the cold N wet, Very professional knew his stuff and answered all our questions so we understand as it’s all new to us. There were a few snags with missing equipment that he had to chase but that was out of his or my control… all in all a great job and Liam deserves a big pat on the back he’s an asset to any job A*

Cavity wall & extractor fans

They guys were punctual (exactly on time) …, but explained again the job they were doing. Also updated me again after the job was completed. They hosed down the patio area & doors after work. They Cleaned in kitchen & mopped floor bless em. After any building work there is always dust as expected. I can live with that. Lee & Shaun thank you.

Don't trust I tried calling to discuss the installation of the extractor fans the kitchen extractor is ok but It lets cold air in(draught) it needs a non return air system fitted,I will to photo of the wiring (trunking) and the white frame has some gaps or missing sealant in certain areas, which could be a source of drafts or moisture ingress...a rite mess.. the bathroom extractor is not quiet it is constantly buzzing even when the red light goes out.i have to try and switch it off at the plug But the plug is so high it's about 10 ft and I think it should be a lot lower..and the switch not fitted very well.. IAM still not happy with the window vents, there's no point in me sending photos of them because they look ok but they do not work correctly even when closed they are draughty.i Wii take a video and put a feather it front of vents. the hive system is really nice but the hive app on my phone won't connect to the internet through the WiFi. Following a full investigation of the details provided and our internal records, including a review of the installation evidence, we can confirm that the trickle vents were fitted in accordance with ECO grant compliance requirements. We also note that the ventilation was correctly connected following the electrician’s . Based on these findings, we have concluded that no further remedial action is required in this case. Therefore, we will not be taking the matter further. We understand this may not be the outcome you were expecting, but please be assured that your concerns were reviewed carefully and in accordance with our complaints process. Next Steps and Escalation Options: If you remain dissatisfied with the outcome, you may choose to escalate your complaint. For ECO-related works, you can contact: Ombudsman Services: Thank you again for raising this matter. We value your feedback and the opportunity to review and improve the service we provide.

The loft insulation and ventilation installation very good no problems, work carried out to a good standard. The installation of the Hive system was a complete nightmare. The plumber left my property and within 3 hours I had no hot water or heating, a British Gas engineer informed me the Hive had been wired incorrectly. UKEM could not send an electrician for a week and told me to get my own electrician to attend and the would pay the invoice. The electrician I engaged had to remove the Hive and completely re wire the whole system. I had no contact from UKEM until a week later, they had no idea if I had hot water or heating for that whole week. Total lake of communication and customer care.

UKEM arranged a plumber to install a Hive system, All was OK until Darren asked for a utility bill, I am a disabled man in my 60's I had a look but the only thing I could lay my hands on was my pension fund letter, Darren wouldn't accept that so I said well put things back how they were and I will make another appointment for next week, Darren then told me he couldn't do that so I asked him to get his things together and leave my property, this is when he just stud there saying I can't, I repeatedly asked him to leave to the extent I was in front of him and then his words were you have picked the wrong person pall and then shoved me to the ground Darren should not be allowed to enter people's property he is a dangerous man The injuries I got was a 3.5 inch bruise on my head bruising to my right hip and left and right side of my shoulders. NOT TO BE TRUSTED, I have lost all confidence with this company.

We had our insulation done around 3 weeks ago, Only to find once work was completed carpets to be found cut short, blinds were put up with 6" nails. The father and son team were nice guys, but some off there work is a bit to be desired. 1 of the vents in the window is missing, things were broken and never said to us..the painter has been in and found some of the plaster work not 100% and him being a plasterer also, has had to even out and sand down a lot of f the work. After all that big difference in the house after in being insulated, just a shame about some off the poor workmanship. Electric sockets not put in straight skirting board 10ft put on with 2 nails.

Poor experience and very poor service. UK Energy Management was appointed by EDF to carry out a survey and report for ECO4 upgrades; the survey itself was fine, carried out at the start of December, but we are now in mid-January and UK Energy Management says they haven't look at it yet, can't find it, are still processing it etc etc etc. Avoid if possible.

I would give the electricians and the guys that did the internal insulating 5 points. They were excellent. I would give the heating system and ukem complaints procedure 0 points. So what am I left with. A heating system that is nothing short of shocking. I am having to live out of my sitting room because radiators don't come on upstairs(read radbots reviews). The noise is unbearable and my grandkids can no longer stay as they wake up screaming from the racket. I have to strip wash in my downstairs loo because it's too cold to shower upstairs. I forgot to mention I'm disabled and am now facing a 4000 bill to get me heating system redone. What you get from ukem when you complain is being patronised, oh you radiators probably need bleeding. To just a basic email response telling you they are not taking the matter any further to being outright ignored. So thank you ukem for the worst and most expensive winter of my life. You get your money from the government so I can go do one. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Insulation started in April. My insulation to the walls have been completed but i have minor problems 1 window vent needs replacing to match my outside window. Initially work was for 4week’s. Took little longer. Chris & Neil are good with their work its December i need Chris to return to do odd job’s he promised. But the Company U.K Management (NE) Ltd in itself a great company. I would recommend you get in touch with them 95% Work is excellent.

the work itself was very good but they left all the rubbish under our front window, saying it would be picked up in about 5 to 7 days it is still here 2 weeks latter . What is annoying they took all the good stuff with them like the copper pipes and cylinder worth quite a few pounds. A good job ruined by the follow up

What a pity that the Government don't want my terminal cancer to end peacefully! Sadly I have been given12 months and already had three, but I am cold, and paid my dues all my life. But apparently attendance allowance and ultimate short life doesn't cut it! Sleep well Labour!

Terrible. Tell you they will do this that and the other, take out perfectly good radiators and put in cheaper ones, don’t check to see if things are working, if there’s a problem insist on dealing with it via email complaint and then ignore it, even if their customers are elderly or disabled so they can continue to fob you off. If you do get through to someone, they make promises to get in touch and don’t. Seems like the only recourse is government, Watchdog, Ombudsman, or review sites. Appalling customer service. UPDATE Do you imagine we haven’t tried through the website? We get a very nice but harassed customer service lady (only one despite what it says when you’re kept on hold) that does her best, but UKEM constantly make the excuse that they can do nothing and we have to go through the heating engineers, installers, manufacturers to sort - something they should be doing on our behalf as they arranged the installation in the first place. Every separate organisation passes the buck to the other (IF you can actually get through to them) and in the meantime we’ve had three weeks of erratic or non existent heating. I could add numerous other question marks and issues which need addressing but heating for my disabled 84 year father is the priority.

The guys who put up the scaffolding (company owner’s name is Ricky) around the conservatory in preparation for cavity wall insulation to start tomorrow, were absolutely fantastic. They’ve done a fabulous job and were lovely with my next door neighbours too as they needed access. Thank you to both of them. Tricia In addition, I’m writing to say a big thank you to Dean and Mark from UK Energy Management, who have worked so hard nonstop from 8am until around 4pm. They’ve thoroughly surveyed the property and carried out all the necessary building work for the next stage of the cavity wall insulation. In addition, they’ve clearly explained everything to me and nothing has been too much trouble for them. They have done an outstanding job and left the house and outside clean and tidy. Excellent from start to finish, the first call to the finish product has been simply outstanding. Chris & Neil - installers, professional and spot on. Rob - brilliant job everytime. Adele, Jade, Phil - always helped and sorted any issues over phone. Chris the boss - thank you. Highy recommend UKEM, by far the best in the business across the country! Thank you all the staff!

Stay away from these folks! Took days off from work for the given appointments twice but was told last minute that guy had phoned in sick and then on second ocasion apparently had to see doctor last minute. They use cowboy contractors who will do more damage to you property than any improvements. Firstly the guy who did drilling for the extraction fan couldn't line it up properly something on which I'd have done a better job myself. Secondly the heating controls installed stopped working after 2 weeks and no heating at all, upon speaking to them was told by installer "it wasn't his problem". Then I was given an appointment for the redemption of the wall drilling fault, took day off from work but no one showed up with no contact either. Not helpful at all is you got any issues with the substandard work in the first place. Absolutely pathetic company.

Absolutely shocking service. Bombarded with messages. Then on day of appointment, no one turned up or even called. The company were aware I have recently had major surgery. No one cared. I would never recommend to anyone. I did not even want to give one star.

Cozy Homes Installations John,John n Dale did an AMAZING job and completely worked around with me as this was a project of 2 weeks, nothing was too much for these guys. They respected my home by placing dust sheets, with sheeting on the floor throughout. They kept the dust to a minimum and were very efficient when tiding up for the even and all rubish taken away at the end of the week. A BIG thank you guy's ALSO a huge THANK YOU to Brad n Ricky who came in to do some wall insulation- EXTREMELY TIDY, 2 very PROFESSIONAL guys and l would highly recomend - thank you UK Energy Management (NE) Ltd

Alex & the 2 fellas that arrived to do my wall insulation were professional, courteous & extremely hard working, & had an amazing work ethic. They completed the job in 2 days & thoroughly cleaned up removing all bagged up rubbish from the outside of the house.The finished product is of a good standard. Prior to this work being done I had the plumber Nu’man who was grrreat, he was professional, courteous & had great communication skills, explaining how to use the new smart heating controls & about the radbots. I have amended my score & reduced it as communication could be improved with Alex & his team of workers especially regarding mishaps (had removed a double wall socket which they didn’t mention, it was replaced only because I noticed it & told them & also breaking the loft latch which they didn’t mention but now have replaced. Roof insulation has also been laid down in the wrong direction & the hatch itself hasn’t been insulated resulting in the need for a return visit post inspection. They were also aware of what had happened to the verge/brickwork & neglected to mention this).The score also reflects the fact that the company has refused to accept responsibility for damage that has occurred during their work ( ie the roof verge now needs redoing & there is damage to the brickwork around the window). However I am still grateful to all the team that I haven’t met that did all the admin & organising to make this work possible. This will have a very positive impact on my general comfort & health.
