Solar Info publishes solar energy guides, grant information, and installer comparisons for UK homeowners. This page explains how we create, verify, and maintain our content.
Our Editorial Team
Content on Solar Info is produced by our editorial team, a small group focused on solar energy, UK energy policy, and consumer guidance. The team researches, writes, and fact-checks all guides, calculator data, and installer information on the site. We do not publish bylined articles because our content is a collaborative effort maintained and updated over time.
How Content Is Created
Every page on Solar Info follows a consistent process:
- Research: We gather data from primary sources (see below) and review the latest policy documents, grant schemes, and market data.
- Verify: Key claims (grant amounts, VAT rates, export tariffs) are cross-referenced against official sources. Where figures are estimates (e.g. installation costs), we state the range and basis.
- Write in plain English: We aim to explain solar topics without jargon. Where technical terms are necessary, we define them.
- Review and update on a schedule: Published content is reviewed quarterly and whenever a material change occurs (see Review Cadence below).
- Cite sources: Each guide includes a Sources section linking to the primary data used.
Data Sources
We rely on the following primary sources for data used across the site:

Where we use estimated figures (e.g. system costs, payback periods), we clearly label them as estimates and describe how they were derived.
Review & Update Cadence
All content pages are reviewed on two schedules:
Quarterly review
Every guide is reviewed at least once per quarter to confirm facts remain accurate. The “Last updated” date on each page reflects the most recent review.
Event-triggered updates
When a material change occurs (such as a Budget announcement, MCS policy change, or new Smart Export Guarantee rate), affected pages are updated within 48 hours.
Corrections Policy
If you spot an error on any page (an outdated figure, a broken link, or a factual inaccuracy), please email us at support@solarinfo.uk. We aim to investigate and correct confirmed errors within 48 hours.
Material corrections (e.g. a wrong grant amount) are noted in the page's updated date. We do not publish a separate corrections log, but we take accuracy seriously and appreciate reader feedback.
Independence & Advertising Disclosure
Solar Info is an independent information portal. We are not owned by, or affiliated with, any solar installer, energy company, or equipment manufacturer.
How we make money: Solar Info operates a lead-generation model. When a homeowner submits a quote request, we connect them with MCS-certified installers. Installers may pay for featured listings on local pages. These are always labelled as “Featured” and are visually distinct from organic listings.
Editorial independence: Featured listings and commercial relationships have no influence on our editorial content. Grant guides, equipment comparisons, calculator data, and all other informational content are produced independently by the editorial team. No installer or advertiser reviews or approves our content before publication.
