Fantastic company to deal with. All their staff Iain, Adam ,Claudius, Graeme, Stuart and the two Lisa’s were absolutely delightful to deal with. Very professional and nothing was too much trouble. Could not recommend enough!
Had a leaking tap at my business premises, Stuart came and looked, and fixed there and then! Perfect service
Sugplum always provide a very professional and efficient service. Every job is fully explained and advice is often given over the phone. Heating Engineers are always on time and carry out a very clean job when on site. Overall very happy with the work completed. Would throughly recommend.
I can honestly say that dealing with Sugplumb is the best decision you will make if you are looking to add renewables to your project.
ASHP & Solar PV & battery We now have a state of the art heat pump and solar PV system in our 40 year old semi thanks to the expertise and top quality workmanship from the Sugplumb team. From planning to installation the whole process was explained in detail by the friendly, helpful office and on-site guys. Most radiators had to be replaced with no upheaval at all and Adam and son Claudia are to be recommended as a hard working father and son. Thanks also to Iain and Colin for their help calming the fears of this novice. We now have to sit back and reap the benefits of a totally new method of heating the home and look forward to a positive future. We would highly recommend Sugplumb and their associated electrical team. As part of the HES grant application we also had to have an updated EPC, which was duly done and the house is now rated A (95) for Energy Efficiency and A (96) for Environmental Impact. Great figures!
What a fantastic company! ASHP From the start both professional and personal. Iain made time to visit at unsociable hours due to our work patterns. He provided a brochure with lots of choice of radiators, colours and styles, he matched his technical information to our understanding and interest. Communication was excellent, with swift responses about the install as well as reassuring and clear emails from Lisa in the office about payment schedules. The install team were outstanding, with attention to detail and excellent manners: Dziękuję Adamski and Claudius! Our home now feels warm, with piping hot showers and our smart meter is reading around £8/day for all electricity on the house, this is a considerable reduction for our house which previously cost £5 / hour to heat. We had a difficult journey with a different installer who made out there was no choice in radiators and also made out that government funding would only arrive after we had fully paid the installer. We later found out that this information is not correct. Following a 9 month battle with this other company we cancelled and found Sugplumb. Sugplumb, a local company, turned everything around for us and everything was completed within just 6 weeks. We have not stopped raving about Sugplumb and our beautiful radiators have been getting compliments from all guests. If you’re in the Aberdeen City/Shire region you could not find a better installer - we are now planning Solar PV with Sugplumb after their excellent job on the ASHP. 5 stars!
Called Sugplumb out to a major leak from an upstairs shower and they responded very quickly. Neil verified the leak was from the drain and had the water back on within 30 minutes of arrival. He returned shortly after and repaired the drain and had the shower back in operation within an hour. Great service.
Another great service to our ASHP by Sugplumb. They are knowledgeable, look after the property, professional and friendly. Neil, the engineer that provided the service answered all our questions, was not in a rush and explained every step making sure that we were satisfied. A big thank goes to Lisa for organising everything behind the scenes. Definitely recommended.
Outstanding service again from Sugplumb yesterday evening. It’s just over 8 years since they installed our excellent Panasonic ASHP (serving wet radiators) which they service regularly. In that time we’ve only had one malfunction - when mice ate through the main electric supply cable. Until last night that is, when although the ASHP control panel showed normal settings, we had no heat coming to the radiators but copious hot water! I’m ill and on chemo at the moment so this was quite scary and I sent a pic of the controller, and got a fast response with some suggestions. That gave me the confidence to check other things - thank you Sugplumb. And the cause? Operator error, not me but hubby. Note to self: need to teach him more about how these things work, and not leave the room thermostat shut in a room in full sun all day!!
Friends recommended these guys to me and they seem to offer a good service so far. What's especially good is the ability to offer a wide spectrum of renewables, to get them all properly integrated.
Our heat pump was out of action due to a fault that caused it to freeze up during the cold weather. Contacted Sugplumb in the morning and an engineer was out later that afternoon. The issue was resolved and heat the pump is back in action again.
We have just had our air source heat system installed by Sugplumb there service has been outstanding from beginning to end stuart sugden was amazing with his extensive knowledge of this equipment and how it works. His team worked around our busy wee family at all times and explained what they were doing every step of the way. We were given a step by step guide in person by stuart ensuring we knew how to work the system. Highly recommend their service and knowledge and the excellent personnel service you are given thank you Sugplumb from very happy customers
Avoid these guys at all costs! Had an air source heat pump installed and had 2 years of grief! At one point they tried to get a 3rd party company to try and resolve the problems to which they came in and took one look at sugplumbs shoddy work and left. Eventually had to report them to their governing body to have the problems seen to. The owner stuart sugden talks a good game but fails to deliver and then refuses to answer your calls.
Sugplumb installed a ground source heat pump into our new build. It's working well. Helpful guys. Ground source heating. Into the ground at 0, back at 3, 27 under the floors, 21.1 in the house (everywhere), -1 outside Compressor is on 6 hours in 24. Takes 2kw when running. Try heating a 3 bedroom house with just one 2 bar electric fire, on for 6 hours in 24! Costs: drilling the 100m deep borehole. £6,000. CTC400 heatpump and all its plumbing £10,000. 950m of underfloor piping embedded in special high thermally conductive concrete, £3000 Total cost £19,000. Cost of conventional gas boiler and radiator system, about £5,000. So the premium is about £14,000 House is toastie warm everywhere, no cold spots.
Recent fault with GSHP. Came same day, identified fault had part in workshop. Returned and fitted. Great service. Also Sugplumb installed our GSHP 3 years ago and we have been very impressed with it.
Sugplumb have done a number of jobs for us over the past two years including the installation of a replacement ground source heat pump and accumulator tank. They are very technically competent and friendly company to deal with and won’t shy away from a difficult job. There were some issues with our existing installation when the ground source heat pump was being replaced and Sugplumb kept at it until they had resolved the problem - most impressed. Highly recommended for renewables and general plumbing work.
Heating engineer arrived on time to service gas boiler. He was knowledgeable, friendly, meticulous in his work. Required one small spare part to be ordered, kept me fully advised. Returned 2 weeks later to fit part. Don't have bill yet, but I know it will be reasonable. Sugplumb have worked for me in the past. Recommended.
Sugplumb installed a new outside boiler and closed loop system at our old cottage almost two years ago. The system was poorly installed, with no magnetic filter fitted with the boiler, non existent insulation on the pipes leading into the house and without rerouting the holes drilled into the house, meaning that the pipes are exposed where they should not be and the pipes themselves sit directly against the granite without any protective insulating cover. Furthermore the new tank is much smaller than what we requested and has been placed too close to the boiler itself which is outwith fire safety / building regulations, again this was something we had specifically asked to be done properly. Since being installed there have been issues with pressure, they took two weeks to get the system pressurised when setting it up but did not bother to find out what the problem was, resulting in the pump burning out, charging us several hundred pounds to replace the pump and for multiple visits when the heating failed. We have no reliable heating system and have to repressurise the system on almost a daily basis. Despite persistent phoning and emailing, Sugplumb have never returned to address the problems. The last communication I had was August 2018 when Stuart Sugden assured me he ‘would not leave us without hearing through the winter’. He never returned my calls again. Minus eight so far this Winter and no heating. I have had three separate quotes to fix the boiler installation the cheapest of which was £2000. This does not include work on the pressure issue which cannot be quoted as it is unclear what Sugplumb have done, such is the poor workmanship. The impact on our day to day lives has been incredibly upsetting and demoralising. Please, please avoid Sugplumb at all costs.
