Alan and his team did a fantastic job for us. The advice was sound, the work well planned and expertly delivered by considerate professionals. There was none of the common heavy sales patter, instead considered unpressurised advice. Alan went out of his way to advise on any (occasional and unavoidable) changes to plan. He also managed the project between the different parts of his team (e.g. roofers, electricians, etc.). I would have no hesitation in recommending him and the Green Squirrel team.

Very good advice and support from Green Squirrel Energy. Background to this - heat pump installed in 2012 (fairly early adopter). The heat pump has always worked ok - in my view - but I have not been so confident in the control system. We have struggled to get house warm. With increasing frustration with the lack of F2F support from original installer I searched online to see if anyone locally and found Green Squirrel Energy from Knutsford (we live close). Contacted them more in hope than expectation - but they quickly phoned back and I engaged them to do a diagnostic on the system. Simon came to visit and they came up with a plan to improve - which wasn't going to be cheap...but I was up for that. Credit to them - they discussed amongst themselves and came to the view that although their proposal was perhaps ideal, it was difficult to guarantee the outcome given the original install. They then came up with a more cost effective solution with which I agreed to proceed. Credit to them that they didn't try to sell me the most expensive solution.... The solution was a new (Hive) control system which Simon and their electrician installed in a morning. I have also installed Hive TRV's on all the radiators. (I should also mention that as part of this work I have also undertaken a DIY change to 2 downstairs radiators and have installed a Strada Hybrid - so I also need to give a 'shout out' to David and his team at the Radiator Centre, Leamington Spa) Alan and Simon also took the time to educate me on how to get the best out of air source heat pump system by leaving it running 24/7 - I was treating it like a gas fired central heating system, but no-one had ever told me different. The result has been transformational - we now have a comfortably warm home for the first time in 13 years. Yes it's costing some money to run, but we were spending a fair amount before and weren't warm... I am very pleased with the service and support we have had from Alan and Simon and give them respect for coming up with a more cost effective solution when they could have sold me something more expensive.

I used Green Squirrel as a one stop shop for the design and installation of my underfloor heating system combined with an Octopus air source heat pump. The whole process was very efficiently managed . The installers and technical leads, Simon Fagan and Andrew Hassell worked very efficiently on the install, showing me how everything worked and demonstrating the Octopus app (which is, like everything I have dealt with from Octopus, absolutely fab!). I commissioned Alan & the team to survey some existing equipment & to report on it's efficiency & physical state. Attendance was quick & minute perfect. I received very open, honest & friendly treatment throughout the visit. The report was clear & laid out everything that would be required to bring the equipment up to it's full potential. I'm not yet in a position to have the work carried out, but Alan has been in occasional contact, offering some very good advice. From what I've seen so far (and that includes prestigious awards), I'm be very keen to work with Green Squirrel again.

Alan and his team installed an air source heat pump, solar panels and two batteries for us and we are very pleased with the results. We contacted several companies for quotes and chose Green Squirrel because Alan took the time to understand our needs and to offer different options and outline the differences. He also explained where equipment could best be sited and carried out a detailed heat calculation assessment. This highlighted the need for some larger and some additional radiators to provide the correct level of heat output. This gave us confidence that the end product would be right for us and would deliver a warm and energy efficient house. By comparison other firms merely provided off the shelf quotations that did not inspire confidence. The installation was completed in a very timely and professional manner. The team were extremely polite and tidy and the work was completed to a very high standard. Whilst researching about heat pumps and solar power it became clear that the quality of the installation was at least as important as the choice of equipment. Throughout it was obvious that Green Squirrel’s focus was on ensuring that we would be completely satisfied with outcome by completing a first rate installation and ensuring that quality products were used. The quote from Green Squirrel was not the cheapest we received but it was competitive and the one that we had the most confidence in. We were not disappointed and would happily recommend them to anyone else looking to install similar equipment. They will do an excellent job.

As part of a complex retrofit of a completely new ASHP heating system the Green Squirrel team also had to arrange for our property to have a three phase electricity upgrade. Alan did an excellent job of organising and managing the DNO application, installation of the new consumer units along with communicating with the electricity board and us. The whole installation was carried out by a professional, tidy and friendly team to a very high standard. We are looking forward to becoming Gas zero and are extremely grateful to Alan for all his help and support.

When my gas boiler broke down and was not worth repairing I knew it was time to investigate an air source heat pump. I have a dormer bungalow built in 1962. 5 months before I had installed a new insulated roof, solar panels and a 9kW battery so a heat pump is in line with my eco values. I had 3 quotes and each one suggested that a different level of work was required concerning changing the pipework and radiators. Alan from Green Squirrel’s approach made the most sense to me. He was recommended to me by Octopus. From the beginning he was highly attentive. He understands the importance of the quality of the install in order for the heat pump to work well. Alan invested many hours in the planing stage before I gave him the job. He appreciated the huge financial investment so was keen for me to understand how this system works and to ensure that my home was made suitable. The whole team were outstanding and the work was completed in the time quoted. As I needed new pipework there was some disruption but all was made as easy as possible. I felt that both Alan and Simon, the engineer, really wanted me to be happy with all the work and for everything to work well. So far the heat pump is working perfectly though I have not had my first winter yet. I have felt very happy with the after install service as Alan has kept in touch and encouraged me to contact him with any questions or issues. I have no difficulty in recommending their work.

Alan and his team installed a cascade heat pump system in a large bungalow with new radiators and copper piping. We are very happy with the system and the work they carried out. The large footprint of the bungalow resulted in a high heat loss for the property. The heat loss survey was undertaken promptly and we discussed radiator sizes, insulation levels etc as part of the initial visits. The planning was very detailed and the customer service was excellent. The team removed the existing boiler etc and did a grand job of piping in the new system. They even had Baxi engineers on site to oversee the cascade installation of the two heat pumps. Overall we are extremely pleased with the install, which was completed to a very high standard and we would have no hesitation in recommending Green Squirrel Energy to others.

We requested for a quote from Alan & David as we wanted to get a range of quotes from a number of companies to be able to compare against. As soon as we made contact with Alan he was on the phone asking about our requirements with a view to arrange a viewing of our property to see how suitable solar panels were for us. The survey itself was extremely detailed and gave us the opportunity to fully understand what we would be getting from solar and whether it would be worth it. Other quotes we received were desktop survey quotes where the company doesn’t even come out. We made the decision to go with Green Squirrel based on a number of factors but it was predominantly getting a quality product and installation at a good price and this is what Alan and David offered. When it came to the installation it took some time, around three days but we were in no rush and we wanted it installed properly. Throughout the whole process communication with both Alan & David was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Even after installation was completed Alan still called up a number of times to ensure that the system was what we expected and wanted. I would definitely recommend Green Squirrel and Alan and David to family and friends to choose a company to install their new solar system.
