I have worked with Gilbert & Stamper over the past 9 months. The team are consistently helpful! I would recommend this company to anyone looking for electrical work.
Called to see if they could wire up a twin cooling fan, on a motorbike dyno machine, and was put on loud speaker & laughed at (I guess because I'm a woman talking about machinery?) Disgusting attitude and behaviour, grown up!!
I asked for a quote and a meeting, bizarrely G&S failed to attend or return my calls. Horribly unprofessional with no concept of customer relations.
Gilbert and Stamper have carried out electrical works on my houses over the last 8 years or so. Their work has always been faultless and the electricians very helpful at overcoming any late changes made by my wife. Would definitely recommend.
I have used the services of Gilbert and Stamper Ltd over the last 5 years for various electrical requirements in an office environment. I have always been more than satisfied by the whole process, from accurate quotes, realistic schedules that are adhered to, the actual work carried professionally and safely, to the certification and invoicing. A professional business I would not hesitate to recommend.
We have worked with Gilbert & Stamper for many years on numerous projects and have always found them to be professional, competent and honest. We value our working relationship and would recommend them as an Electrical Sub Contractor. In addition dealing with our 'day to day' issues is helped by the responsive and helpful office team at Gilbert & Stamper. We generally go out to tender for prices and usually find Gilbert & Stampers submitted prices to be realistic and competitive.
They did electrical work on our property when our previous builder, because of personal reasons, could no longer continue the work. Mr Cross from Gilbert & Stamper came to our property and gave a quotation for completion of the electrical works with a certificate of competence of electrical wiring. As their quote was very competitive compared to other quotes that we had received, we proceeded with Gilbert & Stamper. On the first day of their work, an electrician from the company turned up two hours late without a schedule of works. We had to spend one and a half hours detailing what had to be done as he was not provided with a schedule of works by his employers. The work was slow. We were then contacted by Gilbert & Stamper who proceeded to charge us 50% more than the original quotation. At this stage, the work was not complete. As we refused to pay more than the original quotation, they stopped work. We gave them an opportunity to come and finish the work. We asked one of their directors to come and review the work done by their electrician. None of the directors of the company came to view the work undertaken by the electrician. Then, on one Monday morning, the electrician who did the work arrived without an appointment or a schedule of work. This was our last contact with Gilbert & Stamper. We have photographic evidence of the state the building was left in; wires hanging loose, sockets hanging off the wall, fuse box not connected properly. We had no further correspondence from Gilbert & Stamper and had to use another company to complete the works at considerable expense to us. Gilbert & Stamper then proceeded to pursue me in the Small Claims Court in Tunbridge Wells for the new quotation plus interest of 8%. As I was unable to attend the County Court due to me having severe diarrhoea, I felt I was unable to travel to the Court due to my incontinence. Gilbert & Stamper then got judgement against me for the amount claimed as well as costs awarded against me. As I was away on holiday after this Court case, I did not apply until I had returned to have the judgement set aside. I had to pay £80 to have this judgement set aside. The Tunbridge Wells County Court failed to notify me that the hearing was to be held on 23 November 2012. I could not attend Court as I had not been notified. I then contacted the Court and argued that having to pay £80 again, having failed to have been notified. Gilbert & Stamper then sent a bailiff to my house to collect the money. I then had to pay £80 to the Court again to have the case reheard. The District Judge would not afford me the opportunity of having a trial or defending myself. She had seen all the photographic evidence and I am now applying to the High Court to have the judgement set aside. On the basis of this letter, I find their behaviour unprofessional and their behaviour brings their profession into disrepute. There was a previous entry on the Google review that I was not the author of, nor did I post it. In a previous review, Gilbert & Stamper were referred to as cowboy electricians. These, I am afraid, were not my words and I was not the author of this.
I can commend Gilbert and Stamper Ltd as a diligent, high quality and above all honest and trustworthy company. In terms of staff and quality of operatives on site, I would likewise say that our experiences have always been totally positive. Polite, helpful and normally very proactive We have specified them on many projects over many many years and can recommend them without hesitation for both domestic and commercial works. Highly recommended.
