Derry provided me with a quote for a Mixergy hot water tank. He arrived on time, was very thorough in his assessment, and shared both his personal experiences with installing these systems and the qualifications he holds to back up his expertise. He was polite, professional, and easy to talk to. Although I didn’t move forward with the replacement and installation due to personal circumstances, I was genuinely impressed by Derry’s approach and the quality of his portfolio. After much research, I commissioned Shawcan to help design, install and commission my solar solution. I now have 100 ground mounted panels working efficiently and am exporting to the grid in the Summer months (via Octopus). Prior to this I had installed two air source heat pumps via another firm, and have been able to get rid of one, old oil burning boiler saving a huge amount on kerosene. It soon became evident that Shawcan were more knowledgeable and more responsive in this area than my installer, so I now use them to maintain and service the heat pumps. Having Shawcan look after both my solar and heat pump systems has been reassuring for me and Derry has demonstrated that he understands the technologies extremely well. I have been impressed with the high quality service and honest, can-do attitude. I would not hesitate to recommend Derry/Shawcan to others.

Derry is a trustworthy man for installing and maintaining the heat pump. We had a couple malfunction with our heat pump at the beginning and he sought it out for us in a short period of time. After that the heat pump runs without any issue.

Derry (Shawcan) installed our Solar Panels and Air Source Heat Pump back in late 2023. Derry was very professional and courteous and efficient in keeping us up to date with progress. Since installation we have now been through (almost) two winters and one summer and had no issues with the efficiency of the heat pump and solar. We had 2-3 months in the summer where we received credits form our electricity supplier. Derry came back one year later to perform our annual service. I can't recommend Shawcan enough.

We’ve been working on our self-build eco-home for some time. We had the concept of a solar roof and Tesla Powerwall. We approached loads of installers, only two made a site visit and only Derry of Shawcan agreed to do the work. The solar roof was an unfamiliar product for Derry, but he persisted and finally got the set-up working brilliantly. Heartily recommended!

Outstanding supplier and system designer. Derry was very responsive from my first email enquiry and worked extremely hard at a competitive price to produce a first class Powerwall system for us. He couldn’t have been more helpful and the standard of his work was exemplary (particularly his neatness). From managing the (sluggish) DNO application, to the physical installation, to recommending some useful additional parts and then commissioning, he went the extra mile. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

He really knows his stuff and has an eye for esthetics, even tidying work from a previous electrician! Works tidy and clean with great communication on the work he’s doing. Excellent work. Had to completely overhaul our garage electric supply to install a car charger. Derry explained and quoted for the work with a clear timeline and did an exceptional job - with the foresight to 'future proof', even completing a little early. Excellent communication also from start to finish and all paperwork completed and given as well. Highly recommended.

Derry recently completed our solar panel plus battery installation. We first made contact in Feb 2022 and he was extremely prompt in providing a detailed quote using the latest tech and requiring far less info than all other solar providers contacted. Over the coming weeks we narrowed down our package choice with detailed and considered input from Derry. With the external market variables, time lines and supply issues changing over the coming months, Derry stayed committed to the project despite lots and lots of external mitigating factors! We now have a best fit installation and would recommend Derry's attention to detail and honest, positive approach. His electrical knowledge is excellent and he offers competitive pricing compared to the other quotes we sourced. Derry is still establishing his business and website, but if you are based in Northants/Bucks you should definitely 'shop local' and opt for Shawcan.

Shawcan installed a Tesla car charger onto the wall of my house. From my initial call with Derry he took the time to help me think through my options so when it came to the installation I felt confident I had taken the best possible decisions. On the day I asked him exactly how he would be installing the charger and he walked me through it in a very simple no nonsense way. The quality of the job was absolutely superb. I asked him not to have any wires showing and there wasn’t one in sight and the charger was fixed very neatly on the wall. I am very glad I went with Derry and Shawcan and would strongly recommend him to anyone looking to fit an EV charger.
