Hard-working team!

After much research into companies, I trusted only one, and I’m very pleased with it. The heat pump installation was carried out by Better Planet’s hard-working engineers! The team did an excellent job from start to finish, especially with their outstanding time management — completing everything smoothly ahead of Christmas, which made a huge difference for us and our littles. They were professional, well-organised, and clearly experienced, keeping us informed throughout the process and ensuring the installation was done to a high standard. The site was left tidy, and the system has been working perfectly since. Overall, a fantastic experience — I would highly recommend Better Planet to anyone considering a heat pump installation. Thank you from my heart for bringing warmth to my house on Christmas!

It has been very difficult to get someone trust worthy to help with my NIBE appliance and better planet have been very helpful with that. They have been very professional and knowledgeable

Better Planet were excellent: Very good preparation and effective installation in December 2022 by courteous staff well managed by Stephanie and Tomas. They were particularly helpful in our response to unreasonable strictures about noise from our local planning department. The system is very quiet and we don't think our neighbours have heard it at all. My wife still loves it three years later.

The sun always shines in Watford

Better Planet have installed 12 solar panels which are now kicking out power for the home, the car and the national grid. We have been impressed by their attention to detail and care in installation.

A highly professional and no nonsense company

The installation team from Better Planet made preliminary visits to explain the heat pump process. On the day of the installation 3 men with different tasks completed the entire job with coordinated efficiency. They were friendly, conscientious and happy to answer all our questions about how the heat pump works, its relationship to the underfloor heating and how we manage the controls. The new house we're building warmed up over the Christmas period and has stayed at 21 degrees ever since. In early January the team returned for the formal commissioning and handover. We chose this company after receiving 5 other quotes but chose Better Planet because the sales team headed up by Oliver Larson were clearer, better communicators and easy to reach by email and phone. Another big advantage for us is that their offices are based nearby this avoiding problems associated with companies that appear to be local but are in fact headquartered miles away. Serious about Heat Pumps!!

We decided to make our contribution to the global fight against climate change by replacing our gas boiler with an air source heat pump (ASHP) for heating our home and domestic water. Being a novice in this technology we had to learn and educate ourselves on this method, thankfully many official sites provide enough information for this. We contacted Better Planet company in between 4 other installers, including big electricity providers that are also operating in the ASHP installation business. The reason we selected Better Planet is because they were the only company with a well informed and rational proposal for our home which is slightly more complex than average The complexity stems from the fact that we already have a Solar Thermal system to heat our water (installed more than 15 years ago) which is providing a descent service in covering 3/4 of our hot water needs so, we didn't want to abandon and decommission it. The engineers of the company accepted the challenge to combine both ASHP and ST systems in one hot water cylinder The experience was fabulous! First a heat loss survey assessed precisely the heating needs of the house. After a few exchanges to understand the technical challenges, we concluded to the most appropriate system well adapted to the heat loss report and not oversized. This is actually an essential part of the project if one wishes not only to heat the house well but also economically. For this reason, proposing at the start of the conversation a heat loss survey should be considered as a mark of quality of the company! During the installation which took approximately one week we have been amazed by the technical expertise, experience and professionalism of all the engineers and technicians involved. It is so comforting to see people think first and make a well-informed and common-sense decision before acting! And always consulting with us with a level of communication adapted to our understanding (from both office and field personnel). The final result looks like a piece of plumbing art, heating perfectly and constantly our house effortlessly and efficiently. Thank you Better Planet! A five star first review thanks to Trustpilot! Impressed with the credentials of this business as displayed on the internet and with their response to my initial enquiry. As a hearing impaired person email contact is our preference and Simon their Regional Sales Manager emailed setting out the conditions for getting the £7,500 grant. We get so many unsolicited sales calls that we have had to put a blocker on our phone to stop them! Unfortunately Better Planet had not asked for any information that might have helped them to provide guidance as to the price range of the system needed. We would have gladly provided this if asked the correct basic question such as 4 bedroom detached house, Rentokil rockwall cavity wall insulation, fibre loft insulation and double glazed window plus our current energy consumption etc. Instead we were asked to pay £200 for a heat loss report. Am I correct in thinking this is much more comprehensive than an EPC that would cost £69 and you must have to sell a house . Would it serve the same purpose as an EPC? Thanks to Trustpilot I am prepared to move ahead and pay the cost of the initial survey that is £200 and the hope that the £7,500 grant from the Government will cover a significant proportion of the recommended works

The whole team has great customer service

Oliver was very helpful and positive from start to finish. His mum, Stephanie, is also a delight to deal with. They were very flexible in coordinating with the timeline of my renovation. I would suggest you ask them for very clear guidance on how much space you need for you plant room to make sure you have enough space. We managed to squeeze everything in just about! The guys doing the installation were also very nice and helpful.

Better Planet helped us choose and then install an air source heat pump. They were excellent at all stages, very knowledgeable and professional about designing the heating solution for our large property and then excellent at installing it. They also sorted out the planning application for us and organised the Government rebate themselves. Highly recommended, 10 out of 10.

I truly could not have asked for a…

I truly could not have asked for a better experience with better planet. We got a ground source heat pump installed late last year and their staff were highly attentive and really knew their stuff beyond necessity. Just an all around amazing company to have worked with.

Better Planet installed our Air Source…

Better Planet installed our Air Source Heat Pump in June 2023 and it has been one of the best home improvement decisions we have made. Better Planet were excellent during the installation and have also been fantastic with after service. I would highly recommend using them.

Air source heat pump in Victorian property

We had an air source heat pump fitted to our home. We initially talked with Oliver, who was very helpful in explaining how everything worked and answered my questions on calculations. The team was supportive on email while we waited for planning approval. The team that did the install were all really friendly and hard working. Isaac in particular was a delight. He was with us for most of the days the team were here. The finish on the job exceeded expectations. Everything was done so neatly with labelling and insulation. We are yet to know how efficient the product is for our home, but we are very happy with the service from Better Planet.

Nibe heat pump replacement

I had a Nibe heat pump replaced in August 2023 by the Better Planet team. I could not recommend the company more. They were swift, professional, completed everything as expected, and were happy to provide assistance post service. I would also note that Nibe heat pumps are not stated on their website, which shows me that the company is flexible. Overall - 5 stars!

Extremely efficient

We have used this company for two different projects, which I think says everything really. We have found them to be pleasant, polite and above all, extremely efficient. They are currently involved in a project for friends of ours, which came from our recommendation.

Just had a heatpump for heating and cooling and underfloor heating installed with betterplanet, they have all been very professional and have been very flexible adjusting the system to meet my needs. When the job needed to get a move on they put extra hands on the job and it has felt like they genuinely want to do the best job possible. All there plumbing and electrical work has been very neat using good quality products. I recommend them thoroughly.

The company was very professional and friendly. The sales team was organised, and installation went smoothly!

I have just had a solar PV system with battery installed by Better Planet, and I can recommend them very highly. I chose them because they were local to me in Hertfordshire, and although we got off to a slow start, they proved to be a very professional and responsive supplier. Despite the current problems with the international supply chain, they managed to install the system with very little delay. Stephanie, the installation co-ordinator, did an amazing job in sourcing the panels, inverter and battery, and Mark and Peter managed the installation perfectly; even providing help and support with the app that controls the installation. The system is now running well, and performing as expected.

Be wary of this company. We paid over £40K for a ground source heat pump system. They configured the pump incorrectly which as a result cost us a fortune in wasted electricity and (after asking for help for several months) when we finally figured out the problem they blamed us rather than accepting any responsibility. One of many issues we had with them. Badly run and will always argue that nothing is their fault. Update to reply to Better Planet's response: We provided conclusive evidence that it cost us hundreds of pounds a month more than it should (for 12 months). It was only fixed once I worked out what the problem was, which was confirmed and put right by their electrician. I have now also replaced the faulty leaking valve that was dripping for a year since installation.

Used them to install a solar PV system. Installation was done in a professional manner. They have a great team, shout out to the twins, Mark and Stephanie for being so accommodating. If you want your PV install done properly contact these guys.

Better Planet replaced our heat pump. The team has been extremely professional. Always on time, communication was great and they took great care in carrying out the work to the smaller detail. I highly recommend them and I will use them in the years to come to carry out the annual services on the unit.

We used Better Planet to design, supply and install our ground source heating system. This included the necessary ground works. This very significant project was carried out on time and on budget. The team is very capable, trustworthy and responsive and I would recommend them highly.

Better Planet have been fantastic - great communication and superb support. The initial installation was conducted really well in Feb 2020. Unfortunately we had fire damage to our property in July 2021 - nothing to do with the air source pump but it was damaged. Stephanie, Tomas and the team could not have been more helpful in reinstating our system - can't recommend them highly enough!

We chose Better Planet to carry out the installation of our Ground Source Heating System because of their knowledge and professionalism. The installation was carried out smoothly over the period of our build with information given along the way. Communication was excellent which is extremely important so there's no stress! :). Used these guys to design, install and commission a new Air-Source Heat Pump system in place of an aging Oil Boiler and Tank. They were chosen for their credentials and experience in the space, providing a robust design using only the best materials and showing flexibility in accommodating the install. They were clear throughout on what was required as pre-requisite, and since the works were done alongside a major renovation, these additional measures (insulation, radiators etc) could be done according to a comprehensive heat loss calculation provided by the team. A month on and the outcome is a nice warm house, and a very quiet system which just gets on with it and has dealt with minus temps well so far. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Awesome Ground Source Heat Pump installation by the Better Planet team. Really impressed with the team, both exterior and interior - Dedicated, friendly, professional - an absolute joy to have them onsite. Amazed at the speed with which the whole project was completed - 3 weeks. Project was managed flawlessly by Stephanie.

Tl;dr We were fortunate to work with Tomas and Stephanie from Better Planet on a project here in Oxford. Fulltext: The work was done to the highest standard, and the GSHP is operational for two years and outperforming the expectations. It was a hard project -- constrained in many ways -- financial, space, and time, and there were known unknowns, e.g. geology. Making first steps is not easy -- one must have some slack and flexibility, and realize that things can turn South depending on what discoveries are made at later stages of the installation, and one must be resourceful in overcoming these (but the alternative is worse --- not to have renewable energy sooner). The process is similar to pricing software projects -- iterative approach is key to achieving accuracy in estimations, but you have to start walking the path before you have enough data to make adjustments. E.g., on paper Oxford clay is some 30m below rock layer with low thermal conductivity but there is no other borehole in sight and data is sparse, and then you drill and hit the clay at 40m -- what do you do? You adjust on the spot, and be prepared that these adjustments can translate into hundreds of pounds. Better Planet gave realistic and worse-case numbers, and delivered what was agreed. I'm of technical background (Physics graduate, research programmer) and was able to follow some of what Better Planet were doing and took part in the installation process and design (semi-passive observer for the part BP was resposible for, and design and execution of the rest). On the observer side, I've replicated the heat loss calculation Better Planet did as a stand alone program. I found no bugs --- only nomenclature and reporting issues. Better Planet offered to run a few scenarios for free using their software, but I wanted to run a few hundred in rapid succession and find the best places of where money can be put as a function of budget. Better Planet was very patient with me and answered many technical questions --- I'd imagine I was a giant pain in the butt, as viewed from the other end --- but I was never unwelcome, and they changed the final design several times to accomodate my requests. The biggest oversight was --- they forgotten to charge me for a more expensive part (GSHP tank) I asked them to put in -- I had to remind Stephanie about it 🤔. Communication was superb throughout the lifetime of this project -- low latency and technical by email and phone. Start was a blast as well -- out of four UK companies contacted, Tomas was the only one to get back to me same day, on 24th of Dec 2016 13:47, offering a free site visit on the 29th which he himself conducted. For my next project I'll try and contact Better Planet on Christmas and see what happens -- and I challenge you to beat the result I have with some other installer. :) Final product turned out to be amazing. And so this is an amazing company -- I can't wait to see some of the other, more ambitious and innovative designs Better Planet is working on right now to come to market -- good luck, Tomas, good luck, Steph! Excellent service. Better planet installed a 28kW ground source heat pump supplying two houses which meets the non domestic RHI requirements. All the work was completed to a high standard with advice and guidance offered at each stage from planning to achieving the RHI accreditation. Even with the existing sets of radiators, using the heat pump results in two warm houses, exceeding our initial expectations. Thank you very much.

Better Planet installed my Air Source Heat Pump quickly efficiently to budget and in a relatively short period of time from 1st contact to completed install in under 1 month, I recommend them great service.

We looked at 4 companies before selecting Better Planet and the NIBE system. Tomas and Stephanie Larsson are responsive, intelligent and honest, as was their entire workforce. The installation was very professionally handled and their responsiveness to questions and training is quick and effective. Because nothing is perfect I would have chosen to give them 4.5 rather than 5 but that's not to do with the firm, rather that we hadn't anticipated how much plant is involved and it's taken a bit of time to readjust our utility room. Having said that we are delighted to have adopted this system and would recommend Better Planet unreservedly. I say this advisedly, having had some very odd quotes from other companies....

We wanted to go green and required a plant that could be plumbed into our ancient oil central heating/hot water system. We chose Better Planet because they advertised that their product had been installed in other country homes and castles – not the easiest of buildings to keep warm. We accepted that the result would be no better than our existing system which is what we required. We have augmented the air source heaters with an array of PV panels. Better Planet has excellent engineers who were helpful throughout both installations and there has been amazing support from the Directors Tomas and Stephanie. We will be able better able to judge running costs after the electricity bills arrive and more particularly after the system has been running for a year with the FIT's and RHI's payments, but during the first three months everything seems to be living up to, if not better than, expectations and we have recommended Better Planet to several other friends for their consideration. If the UK is to meet its carbon emissions target by 2050 then individuals should consider air source and PV arrays as potential heating systems for existing and all new domestic properties. Nationally we should be making better use of tidal and wave power. We are an island and surrounded by water, we have rivers and weirs, why aren’t these facilities being exploited so that we can abandon oil, gas and nuclear power?

I found Better Planet very easy and helpful to deal with. They were polite, helpful and always professional. I would certainly use Better Planet again.

I used this company to service my heat pump. They are twice the price of other approved heat pump installers and I would not use them again.
