Happy customer

I must write a review as I was so pleased with the work carried out recently. I had a new boiler installed and the guys were excellent. They worked very hard the whole time they were here. They didn’t appear to stop for lunch or breaks at all. The work they carried out was very professional. They were clean and tidy, no mess and cleaned up after them. I would definitely recommend these guys and doubt they get paid enough for the excellent work they do. I am a very happy customer.

Awful company - wouldn’t recommend

I had a heat pump fitted from Macbrook last March. The installation had its own issues such as the initial installer being very rude, the information I had been told by Macbrook being incorrect and there was a lot of information that I hadn’t been told but should have been. I didn’t want to make a fuss so I didn’t complain and just accepted the situation as I was happy to have the heating. Recently both my heating and hot water broke. I tried to report this but they do not answer the phones half the time, I was waiting on hold over 15 mins approx 6 times to be disconnected and have to call back ending up at the back of the queue. This is very frustrating when you need to speak to someone. Altogether, I had 5 engineer visits (between them and the manufacturers company Grant) and it was 3 and a half weeks before anything was fixed. This meant me and my children were absolutely freezing for almost a month in January/February so it was freezing outside. It was so cold that my kids were upset and we couldn’t sleep at night. I was given various different reasons for it not working. It felt like no one knew what was actually wrong with it. There was no urgency sending engineers out to me, I had to chase them each time. One time they had told me to wait in for an engineer for him to not arrive, I called them to be told there was a note on the file to say the job was cancelled as the part didn’t arrive - no one thought to call and to let me know this so me and my children were sitting waiting indoors in our coats for no reason when we could have been somewhere warmer. I asked to speak to a manager over the phone but wasn’t able to. I was told they were treating the job as a priority 2 weeks after it had broken, why wasn’t this a priority before? I was told on the same call they had just read the reports thoroughly, why did it take 2 weeks to read these reports ? The engineers who visited were all polite and helpful however it did feel as though none of them read each others reports. Macbrook the company take no responsibility for their actions and simply try to shift the blame to the manufactures company Grant. Surely they should still care about the service their customer is receiving? There organisation, communication and customer service skills are shocking. I spent a lot of time listening to their hold music over the last few weeks which states… they are committed to delivering a 5 star service, they are committed to keeping our homes warm, great service shouldn’t be complicated etc. I strongly disagree with all of these statements and suggest they should be changed. I sent a formal complaint email and have had absolutely no response, not even a quick sorry email. I’m extremely anxious that the heating will break again as I’m still not any wiser what caused it to break so badly and why it took so long to repair. I did state this in my email to Macbrook but as I said have had no reponse. Edit: reply to Macbrook - you’re right, this is my only review because normally I’m not the sort of person that would complain. Your company has upset me so much that I felt other people should be made aware. I addressed all the dates/times in my complaint email, it is far to long and detailed to add to here. Are you suggesting I add my phone number and home address to this review for anyone to see? I’m not really sure what you expect me to do? My name is Lianne Moore and post code is cb9. Surely you can search by names? I can assure you that this is a genuine post unfortunately. Strange that you can reply to comments on here so quickly but don’t reply to actual complaint emails that are sent to you. I’ve resent my email this morning so please do respond to it.

Use this company at your peril.

Use this company at your peril. MacBrook Gas installed our solar power system in August 2025 under the Government Green Deal initiative and we've had problems ever since. On installation day the fitter pointed out the surveyor should have said the pipework to the boiler needed access to an outside wall. The only option was to fit an unsightly pipe through to our bedroom, we had no option as work had commenced taking the old system out. The contracted fitters used our home as a building site with people wandering in and out without introduction. Covers were not placed on the floor, when challenged I was told they only had a couple of sheets and didn't put them on tiled floors. We were not told the dimensions of the boiler prior to installation and lost valuable storage space. Once installed we were given a few minutes instructions how to use the system; no where near adequate to manage the complicated programming. The workers returned unannounced to collect the scaffold some days later letting themselves into our garden; their language delivered loudly was educational. When I first accessed our loft following installation I discovered the portable electric heater stored therein had been stood on by a fitter and broken beyond repair. I have sent many emails, photos of the damaged item, had someone come out and look at it, telephoned and, despite the company admitting they were responsible, have not received any compensation or replacement. Over the months we have had to call MacBrook back many times to correct holes left in the walls from the old system, pipes unsecured, disused electric cables left live and anomalies regarding setting up the system correctly. Last Friday a warning signal prompted a system breakdown and I was informed it was nothing to do with them but a fault with a part requiring repair by the manufacturer. It is now Tuesday and have heard. nothing from the manufacturer. We have been without heating since. I am a pensioner. A friend, who is also a pensioner, that also employed MacBrook to install their system has also had numerous issues including pipes not being insulated and wrong fittings installed. Be warned, especially if you are an older customer, MacBrook Gas are only interested in getting the job done as quickly as possible to get the Government grant and hope you don't notice the shoddy work; their after sales support is poor. Note: this does not apply to Sam who is a star. UPDATE: Within hours of this review a senior manager contacted us and within a couple of weeks all issues were resolved. However, we are still waiting for additional anomalies, identified by a Macbrookgas installer, to be resolved.

Reluctantly putting a single star as cannot put less..... The original survey was brilliant, it has been everything else since that has been completely lacking. From no show appointments, to engineers turning up without warning and even engineers turning up in the wrong order; an electrician turned up to wire the new boiler a few days before the old boiler had even been taken out and replaced! The new boiler was installed without testing (as electrician was then rescheduled for the following week), the remedial work was scheduled for the following month so a large hole where the old flu was removed was left - which then also couldn't be sorted until a fortnight later as needed a plaster and not a bricky as had been organised for us. A month after the boiler had been replaced and was finally wired in and good to go, found there were 2 radiators that didn't work. So, another month later and a plumber was booked to come round to take a look. Less than 2 minutes after walking in, both radiators measured for replacement (as of course, told all would be new at install but none had been changed; not sure why the surveyor even bothered measuring them all) and he left with a "we'll give you a call to book a follow up and get them sorted". It has been a call to these guys every 2 weeks since then which was now 5 months back and EVERY SINGLE TIME, I am told "we'll have to do some digging but I promise I'll give you a call later on". I think this is how they actually say goodbye. I called this morning in fact to chase up again, don't know if anyone else has noticed it has been a blooming cold winter this year so heat would be nice in the bedroom without using a floor heater, and I am still waiting for that callback 14 hours later. I guess I'll chase up again tomorrow and hear the same empty promise. As a word of advise for people reading the reviews, hold off getting any boiler/heating work done until summer because you may have a working system by the time you need it and you'll be able to stay warm while waiting for it to get finished! On a positive note, the chaps that have all come out have been nice chaps. Just a shame that's the only positive thing to add.

If you are installing a heat pump - ask for Billy!

I just wanted to leave a note to say how genuinely impressed I am with Billy’s heat pump installation work. He absolutely deserves 5 stars for his contribution, even though my overall experience would be closer to 3–4 stars. The previous installer you sent, Ryan, was unfortunately out of his depth. He opened plasterboard in several places (still open, I need to find someone to complete the plastering) and, after a couple of days, left the job unfinished, which meant I was without heating for over a month during December and January. George was super supportive, but at that stage, it really felt like my case had been dropped. Then Billy arrived, and the difference was immediate. Several issues that Ryan had struggled to resolve — even with builder support — were handled by Billy with remarkable ease. The way he thinks through problems and connections clearly reflects deep experience and confidence in his work. Concerns that had previously been flagged as potential obstacles turned out to be no issue at all in Billy’s hands. His calm, practical approach has made a real difference as the work has continued, and I wanted to make sure this was recognised. All is working well!

6 days after install ive got no heating or hot water. Install team all went on Friday afternoon after telling me a small component is missing. Its all installed but not on. My own heating and hot water disabled for the install. Spoke to office 9am Monday morning but never got a call back. Spoke again today Tuesday again no call back from office or an electrician. Cancelling loft insulation and will get someone to take all this out and put it back as it was. This was ECO4 given to me on health reasons. A bit like being given a free mobility car and parking it on the drive but not having the keys!..poor company tbh! UPDATE. Lewi from Macbrook gas was on the phone within 30mins of me posting my complaint. He couldnt have been any nicer and had no idea of the situation i was in. He was unaware of any problems and made it his priority to get the problem sorted. I had 2 electricians in the home within the hour and 3 guys today to finish outstanding work and commission it. I vant thank Lewi enough for go out of his way to gain satisfaction for me. 5***** for Lewi and thanks!

Avoid this company

Avoid this company. Back in September they arranged to replace our oil fired central heating with an air pump using government funding which was available last year. They repeatedly postponed installation until now (February) when it is too late to receive the funding. This has cost us an estimated £40000. I will be taking legal advice on this. Throughout, communication from this company has been abysmal. Use them at your peril. Even a one star rating is too high. Note, their response below is untrue. The cut off date for funding was known well in advance. Copy of actual grant wording follows. EC04 was said to run until 2026, not into 2026:- ECO4: This scheme continues to provide grants for energy-inefficient homes with low-income occupiers until 2026.

Install of Heating and Solar Panels

Firstly cannot fault the install team for the Storage heaters and the rear solar panels, however was told that the team needed to order some slate for the front aspect before the remaining solar panels can be installed - I thought OK, no problems this can be sorted. This was on the 12th January. Since then all the wiring to the front panels have been installed and is currently dangling in my loft. Despite numerous phone calls and e mails, I have had no communication from Macbrook Gas to say when they will be back, if they have the tiles or anything. Yet they are happy to send a handover pack for incomplete works? Communication is severely lacking. I have spoken to the receptionist who i will say is very helpful, it appears it is the management who appear to not want to engage. All I need is a date and to know what is going on?

Great Service

Rang on Saturday on the chance they were open as when I arrived to visit my 85 year mother she had no heating. I explained they had installed the gas heating several years ago and service it every year. A lovely lady said she would ring the engineer as he might be able to pop in on his way home and have a look. She kept us updated with phone calls and a lovely gentleman arrived at the arranged time and fixed the problem. My mother said he was very polite and she felt very at ease with having a stranger in her house. He had driven along way to come to her and had a long journey to do to get home to Manningtree. Very much appreciated and thank you very much to everyone for a great service.

Impossible to get an engineer to return…

Impossible to get an engineer to return for remedial work and repairs. Terrible customer service. My thermostat broke and it took 13 wks of phoning and begging for an engineer to replace the faulty part. I ended up ringing them every single day for 2 wks solidly to finally book an engineer in. 9 times in a row they promised to ring me back and they did not. An engineer failed to show up twice in a row after I had taken time off work, they did not bother to phone me to cancel. When an electrician eventually arrived after 13 weeks of waiting he did not even have the replacement part with him and unfortunately he had not received proper training on the Air Source heat pump settings. I have now realised that as part of the installation the Aerona Smart Controller should be attached to my WiFi, this has not been done and has been completely ignored. I have requested an electrician comes to my home to hard wire the WiFi to the controller. Once this is set up I can then have support from Grant engineers on line, this is urgently needed as Macbrook Gas are not prepared to provide customer service and aftercare. I am still waiting for a call back to book an electrician in. Please note all staff have always been very polite and friendly. When an engineer finally arrives he has always tried his hardest to help.

Macbrook Gas were absolutely brilliant installing our IWI ASHP and Solar via funding! From day one the team were friendly, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. The whole installation ran smoothly, everything was clearly explained, and the standard of workmanship was outstanding. They worked efficiently, paid great attention to detail, and left everything spotless when finished. We’re already seeing the benefits of the system and couldn’t be happier with the result. Highly recommend Macbrook Gas — a top-class service from start to finish!

I’ve had an air source heat pump and solar panels fitted by Macbrook Gas and I honestly couldn’t fault them. From start to finish the experience was excellent. Both the initial survey and the ASHP survey were explained clearly and in real depth, which made the whole process really easy to understand. The installation team were efficient, professional, and left everything very tidy. Once the install was complete, they took the time to properly explain how the system works and answered every question I had without rushing. A genuinely great experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Macbrook Gas to anyone considering an air source heat pump or solar panels.

Completely useless company. They have provided compensation for a complaint I raised and I am still 1 month after supplying bank details and authority form awaiting payment. You will get no reply’s to emails for weeks on end an to this day still having issues with a air source heat pump they incorrect installed and so called ‘fixed’.I can not emphasize enough, do not use this company! Lewi who is operations director can’t organize a simple compensation payment let alone actually install a heating system correctly

Wasted my time completely with an eco4 application. When I chased them up repeatedly they finally admitted the scheme was cancelled. Funny however they knew this some time ago but still strung me along until I asked them to confirm fully that the application had been lodged. If I hadn’t have asked they wouldn’t have informed me. But they kept up the hope I had in the scheme, and of something actually being of benefit to me. Absolutely fuming that I believed them. My previous applications were cancelled last year with alternative suppliers, and MacBrook has was my last hope. I genuinely don’t believe they had any intention of getting my application in on time. They clearly just didn’t get around to sending it to the council before cancellation. Angry isn’t the word.

Awful. Half a job done , radiators on floors waiting to be installed. It's a 2 bed bungalow and taken 2 weeks so far and the solar panels that were agreed are now not being installed as apparently previous owner had their own but not connected to main grid and not here when we bought this property. Choose carefully the company that installs your eco4 home . We got a lecture on how using the eco4 grant was making our neighbours having to support us .

Awful company, would not recommend or use again. Had my heating system replaced under a government scheme, and it’s been nothing but issues. Surveyor took pictures of my dishwasher instead of boiler which meant they couldn’t remove it when the workmen arrived. Upon completion, the heating system broke and ceased working within 3 hours and a pipe under my sink began leaking, flooding my kitchen at 3am. On top of that, they’ve left pipes sticking out of walls and rubbish out front , that had spread out on the roads in the wind, for a week. We have been left without water and heating for a week, and given the run around by the company who have said the manufacturer can only sort the problem with my system( and I still haven’t heard from them) and that the company won’t come and fix the leak because it’s “existing pipework” despite the fact the leak is a direct result of the new installation and the contract I signed stated that the company would “update pipework where needed” When speaking to a manager I was told the company do NOT check to see if pipework is compatible with the system they install and they don’t check for leaks etc after installing. They “ just install the equipment and that is all”. Essentially, they are happy to leave people with disabilities without water and even when coming to collect the rubbish, nobody called to tell me so I wasn’t able to tell the people collecting there was a radiator out the back left on my patio that I couldn’t put out front . I am now unwell due to the stress of constantly having to contact the company and STILL not having water or a functioning heating system. The only reason I’m giving one star at all is because the workmen themselves were absolutely lovely and worked hard to do a large job in a short space of time. It’s just a shame that the company don’t have any respect to complete the job properly or take responsibility for things that clearly should have been sorted at the time.

Waste of time

We had an air source heat pump, solar panels, and loft insulation installed in August 2025, and since then the system has been nothing but trouble. It will appear to work for around three weeks, then the same error code returns and both the heating and hot water stop working completely. We have had numerous engineer visits, yet every visit brings a different explanation — “there’s no issue,” “there’s a leak,” “the pressure is low” — but no actual fix. Engineers regularly tell us they cannot resolve the problem on the day. We are then promised follow-up calls that never happen, forcing us to chase repeatedly, only for another engineer to arrive who is also unable to fix the issue. The cycle simply repeats. I raised a formal complaint months ago and received no response whatsoever. I sent another complaint yesterday asking for a manager to review the installation from start to finish, as it has clearly never worked correctly since day one. Overall, this has been a complete waste of time and an incredibly frustrating experience. The system was sold to us as a major improvement to our home, but instead it has caused ongoing stress and disruption. I genuinely wish we had never gone ahead with the installation.

ECO4 scheme

New solar panels, heat pump and radiators fitted under ECO4 scheme. Absolute blessing as I was using cold water before and a new water tank was also installed to heat water. There were a few delays getting started and it was very stressful having a huge crew in the house ripping up floor boards etc for a few days but overall very happy with result. Kim (welfare officer) visited and it was such a relief because I was feeling very stressed out from all the work going on, but she was really reassuring and helpful. There were some communication issues with the office, but this feels minor in comparison to having a warm house now the job is completed. I applied to the scheme in August and the heating system was installed in September, just before the weather turned. Thanks to the team, especially Kim who was so reassuring on a difficult day.

Not good…

The attitude of one of the installers could have been a bit better. The G98/99 process was not followed , we tried to get the correct paperwork but they were unable to provide us with it making applying for SEG very difficult as we had no DNO number or anything. National Grid didn't even know we had solar panels which they were meant to have been notified before installment. The solar panels installed do not seem to be providing us with electricity at all. Resulting in an absolute appalling high electricity bill. Tried contacting this company a few times about it and they just brush it off to say its winter time so more electricity is being used.... is t the kwh imported from the panels meant to be going down?? Not up and up?!

First Class Service

We have recently had a our boiler replaced under the government EC04 scheme. Once the application had been approved Macbrook arrived within two weeks to start work. From the first contact with Louis until the job was completed all staff were extremely professional, efficient and hardworking; plumbers, electrician and scaffolders. A special mention to Olly and Nick who whizzed round at 100 miles an hour not stopping until the job was complete. Once the boiler had been installed Nick was very clear in explaining exactly what had been done and 'extremely' thorough completing final checks to ensure all was working well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mackbrook to anyone needing a boiler replacement.

Terrible company. Original install by them and frankly they have been out so many times with issues with the system. Same constant fault code appearing. Come home and house is freezing cold and no hot water as the system has pulled up the same fault over and over again. Shoddy workman ship. With old pipes still sticking out of wall that we noticed after work was completed as they put the armchair back in front of them.in attractive pipes down the centre of a rather than to the edges.numerous leaks. Terrible touch ups and To top it all 1st service was booked in today, sat in waiting for them but no show. So I called, only to be told they are attending a leak and won’t put to you today. Thanks for the call macbrook(which I never got)I also refuse to pay their £120 service fee upfront for this exact reason, no other company charges you before the work has been carried out,I just knew this would happen!! Needles to say I will go elsewhere with future servicing and pay more but get the service a customer deserves, unlike what this company provides.terrible company.- Update:- surprise surprise following MacBook response I called to speak to a manager. However no manager was available to speak to. I left a message and promised a call back. However no call has ever been returned. This just concretes my complaint. Bunch of cowboys!!

I applied for the ECO 4 heating grant through my local council and was assigned to Macbrook Gas. From start to finish I have found every person that I have had dealings with extremely helpful, reliable and informative, from customer service assistants, surveyors, electricians, insulation guys, heating engineers, builders and the customer services manager -nothing was too much trouble for any of them. All were very chatty and polite. Prior to the heating install, loft insulation was put in and fans were installed, the guys arrived when they said they would. My Combi boiler install took 2 days and again everyone arrived as planned along with all the deliveries as well (boiler, radiators, scaffolding etc). A builder was then sent to fill up the hole left from moving the boiler just a few days later - he actually arrived earlier than scheduled! I had one tiny leak in my hallway radiator and Hannah arranged for an engineer to attend on a Sunday afternoon to carry out the repair work which took literally minutes - first class service and on a weekend too! No complaints here :) Thanks everyone at Macbrook Gas.

100% recommended!!! I am wiriting this review for and on behalf of my parents! I would like to thank the team ESPECIALLY Hannah & Sam!! My elderly parents had no heating on Saturday after having a service completed on Friday. My dad is 84 and vunerable with his health and with the temperatures dropping rapidly he needs to keep warm so this was a concern. Not expecting the best being the weekend we tried on the off chance to telephone first thing Sunday morning to see if we could have an engineer out. Hannah took our call and advised she would do her best to get an engineer out in the afternoon. Within 10 minutes Hannah called back and said that someone would definitely be with them. Sam kindly attended mid afternoon and carried out the works efficiently and reassured my parents that all was working as it should be. Hannah then called back in the evening to check that all was okay. Absolutley outstanding customer service and we thank you for looking after them so efficiently without any trouble!! THANK YOU 😊

THANK YOU 😊

Most of the work completed was fine, we have had solar panels, heaters, extractors fans, trickle vents and loft insulation installed under the ECO 4 scheme. Unfortunately, similar to some other reviews here we have not had a good experience when it comes to damage and subsequent repairs. When fitting the loft insulation the chap put his foot through the ceiling, thankfully he didn't fall through completely, but it took 2 months to 'repair' the hole. 3 separate occasions we waited in all day as someone was coming to look at it, or repair it, and never showed up. 2 occasions workmen turned up completely unprepared for the job and had to leave without doing anything. They have effectively just patched over the damage and I will complete the repair myself. Most of this issue was down to poor communication between different departments/teams, but also a seeming lack of care once there was no money to be made. I fed back several other inadequacies to the welfare officer who finally came out after it felt like we'd been forgotten about, that included: - Electrician fitting extractor fan incorrectly having to be fixed by remedial task team. - Rubbish and packaging being left all over my front lawn, including rubbish from some one else job (an induction hob!). - Plan of work not communicated to the customer at all. - Workmen turning up on a day I was not informed they'd be here. - Full instructions on new equipment not provided. I'm not ungrateful for the kit installed, but I don't feel I can recommend theb experience. EDIT: For clarification, the day the ceiling was damaged I was told someone would be round to look at it that day. It took over 2 months to get to the reissued and unpainted stage. My review is not the only one where property has been damaged and not returned to it's further condition, "offered to paint it". There is nothing misleading about my review, and you can't be surprised or disappointed about a bad review when you as a company knew exactly what was going on when it was, and after raising my concerns with the welfare officer Kim still nothing improved. I told Kim my review would reflect the experience and would detail my concerns.

We had the air source heat pump and solar panels installed by Macbrook Gas. Prior to installation we were kept informed of all elements of the installation and given a 5 day window for completion for w/c 22.9.25. Day one all relevant trades arrived and completed the installation of the air source heat pump efficiently by end of day two. Day two electrician fitted the inverter for the solar panels and scaffolding arrived ready for panel fitting Day three no activity as planned Day four solar panels installed. We were very impressed with the tradesmen on site, their efficiency and respect to us the customer. The office team kept in touch during and after installation and we cannot fault them. Would highly recommend this company and their relevant staff and tradesmen. Well done MacBook Gas a job well done, which is very rare these days!

We have had a great experience with MacBrook. They have installed solar, new storage heaters, extraction and internal wall insulation. The engineers have been consistently friendly, professional, tidy and efficient. All the rubbish was cleared away. The schedule was adapted to suit us as we had other works taking place which were disruptive, and this was done with good grace. All in all, we were very impressed with the service and are happy to be in a significantly warmer house with smart new solar panels. Thank you!

Recently had new heating installed and internal wall insulation. Paul, his team and the plumber Matt were excellent. They were very clean and tidy, and kept me updated on the work they did. The heating Installers were not as considerate, or friendly and removed the floor covering we had put down each morning, in the bathroom to protect the new tiles that had been laid. The floor was left stain from dirt they walked through. My wooden floor in the living room was left damahed from something being dropped on it, and my carpets left dirty. They advised me they would need to place the cylinder in the main bedroom and would build a cupboard to cover this. The cupboard was not built. The cupboard that was originally ripped out to house the cylinder downstairs was not used and not replaced, leaving us with the work to do of building the cupboards. There was no communication on where any of the radiators were being put or the sizes we were having. They were not put in the same places where the old radiators were, which has restricted space for putting furniture back. We was told the survey had not been completed correctly, and that someone should have discussed this with us before works began. All the plumbing to the kitchen sink was removed for the insulation ro be put in and was not put back, We had to do this. Since day one of the heating being installed at the end of July it has not worked. Keeps coming up with the same error code. We have called numerous times and had engineers out, who found leaks, that were repaired, still not solved the issue and have now said the manufacturer will need to come out. I called on Monday to report the same error code and was advised they would notify the manufacturer. There hasn't been any update calls from them or the manufacturer all week. I have chased this up via email and no response received. Its a good job we are not fully into the colder months, having no heating. I have also been chasing the mcs certificate needed for the solar panels that were installed so I can notify my energy company of them and change tariffs. Almost 2 months in and still not received this, again I have chased this up with no response.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Excellent service from start to finish!” I recently had cavity wall insulation installed by Mac Brook Gas LTD, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From the first phone call, the team was friendly, professional, and explained everything clearly. They arrived on time, worked efficiently, and took great care to keep everything tidy. The job was completed to a very high standard, and I can already feel the difference in warmth around the house. It’s reassuring to know the work was done properly by experienced professionals who genuinely care about their customers. I would highly recommend Mac Brook Gas LTD to anyone looking for quality workmanship and fantastic service
