We have a large, Victorian, double fronted, detached, home with a with a separate Spa &Swimming Pool Complex and an additional self-contained Granny Flat/Annex. We researched companies who might provide us with Air Heat-source pumps and commissioned 3 competitive quotes. We are subscribers to Which Magazine and Which recommended Ipsum Renewables, who were local to us.(There would appear to be a number of less professional and less knowledgeable companies out there, so be careful.) From start to finish, Ipsum provided by far the most professional service of any of the companies that we contacted, and their Directors involved themselves in the quoting, specification and installation process, providing us with additional confidence in their company. Ipsum undertook the Government BUS grant application (Boiler Upgrade System) which paid around 50% of the total costs of upgrading. We had 10 Ipsum Heating Engineers and 5 large Vans, at the house every day for 5 full days, (and we had to rely on electric heaters meanwhile, whilst our old gas boiler was removed and replaced and there was a bit of redecorating and joinery to be done after they had finished, but nothing that we had not been forewarned of.) The whole the team was friendly and helpful and everyone was busy all of the time. We had to replace 18 radiators and have 3 Heat Pumps in total, but the house is now toasty warm, 24/7, with constant and plentiful hot water at a sensible running cost. The guys have been back to see us since installing and they have helped us to re-programme our electricity use (remotely and in person,) to make best use of the best Octopus money-saving tariffs. Many thanks to everyone at Ipsum. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ipsum to anyone who wants a professional and effective boiler replacement system.

Been struggling to get my solar system…

Been struggling to get my solar system upgraded to my expectations. Spoke to Luke and matter settled in a few words with trust on both sides.

Ipsum have just installed an Air Source Heat Pump at our home: the whole job, including replacing all radiators and repiping (to replace microbore) took just 3 and a half days! The four man team did an outstanding job, extremely professional and nothing too much trouble (e.g. replumbing washing machine and redirecting shower drain, etc.). We previously had solar panels and battery storage installed by Ipsum, again to 5* standard, which gave us no hesitation in getting them back for the ASHP. A top quality business: highly recommended.

Had a heat pump fitted to our home in…

Had a heat pump fitted to our home in September 25. From initial quote through to finished installation the staff at ipsum were first class. After gaining quotes from several places we decided to go with ipsum due to their reviews, being a local company and the general way they conducted themselves. Installation took a few days and all staff were polite and professional. All mess was cleared away when finished and everything was explained operation wise. When we noticed a slight leak from one of the new radiators they had fitted one of their staff came and sorted it the same day! All in all I would thoroughly recommend their services. The team at Ipsum Renewables have been great throughout the installation of our new air source heat pump. We live in a small village without gas so many of the houses are reliant on oil tanks still. We wanted to completely remove the old boiler system and oil tank, and switch to fully electric with the air source heat pump. We only have a relatively small, end-of-terrace, 3-bed house, with a small garden (so it was going to be difficult finding the right place for the heat pump to go). Fortunately the Ipsum team were able to fit the heat pump mounted on the outdoor wall above our driveway, so we didn't lose any garden space (which was a great bonus)! The Ipsum team sorted our EPC and heat loss assessment which indicated precisely what radiator size each room would require, and overall how much money the system upgrade would save us approximately over the year, so this was really useful. It took 3 days for the full installation, which included full removal of the old boiler system, 7 radiators replaced, new water tank in the airing cupboard, and the installation of the air source heat pump. Considering I work from home, the team were great at making sure they left the house neat at the end of each day, and they were very considerate about letting me know when they would need to turn off the water / electrics. Really friendly team and they work very hard! Cannot fault their skills or expertise - looked like a really tricky job but they definitely knew what they were doing! They fitted smart hubs around the home which are very cool - showed me how to work them and how to set the water / room temperature and times. In terms of cost, the overall price was very reasonable considering all that needed doing. The Ipsum team were great at sorting all the paperwork to request the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) Grant on my behalf - this covered £7,500 of the cost for me (which is the main reason we were able to afford to do this). The remaining cost was about £4,000 so it was still an investment but ultimately, it will save us money in the long-term, and it will hugely improve the EPC rating on the house (which prior to the upgrade was rated D). To summarise - skilled & friendly team, reasonable prices, and a great end result. We are very happy with the upgrade - it is cheaper for us to leave the heating on all day now!! Very happy :)

After such a heatwave, earlier this year, we decided we needed air conditioning. Having used Ipsum Renewables for our Air Source Heatpump and having such a great service, we decided to contact them. We were not disappointed. We were given great advice on which type of Air Con we shuld have and the best place to locate the units. Once again the guys didn't let us down; arriving on time, working away and keeping us up to date with everything. It was all up and running within the day. Looking forward to next year's heatwave.

New heat pump, solar panels and battery.

From start to finish Ipsum were excellent. They listened to our requirements and modified the proposal several times to match the systems to our house. We chose to have a heat pump with solar panels and a battery and new radiators throughout. Ipsum identified routes for the pipework and cables to minimise the disruption to the house, avoiding external ducts and cables. All the workmen were Ipsum employees; they were friendly, helpful, courteous and thoroughly professional. We are very pleased with the system they have installed and the overall quality of the workmanship. We cannot recommend Ipsum too highly and would use them again without reservation.

Lots of reasons to use a local supplier.

There was plenty of pre-sales technical information including an onsite visit and quick responses to any questions via telephone or email. This all convinced me that working with a local supplier had several advantages over the bigger nationwide companies which tended to be rather impersonal. The solar panels and battery installation was completed quickly and professionally. Based on the pre-sales experience I expected some after sales contact but there was very little, just some sorting out of documentation etc. To be fair I did not really need more than that. The system has functioned well for a number of months now.

31 Solar Panels and an ASHP

As a Chartered Aerosystems Engineer of some years standing, I know a little about Quality and Craftsmanship!! This company recently installed 31 solar panels, 16Kw battery storage, 19 radiator changes and a 16Kw ASHP - all at the same time!! I can only describe their standard of workmanship, care, cleanliness, attitude and work ethic as outstanding. Not only are we delighted with what they have done for us, we are simply overjoyed!! Their pride of workmanship is plain to see and both systems are working beautifully and fully integrated. The commissioning and handover was absolutely first class. I cannot recommend them highly enough, and I don’t say that lightly. Thanks you Ipsum, absolutely top notch!!

We have just (2 days ago) had solar panels, battery and Gateway installed by Ipsum. We chose Ipsum on personal recommendation and can now see why. The survey was thorough, with no hard sell, just the facts from a clearly knowledgeable surveyor. The installation itself was accomplished in one day and what a fantastic job! So neat, such excellent workmanship and tidiness. The guys showed just what excellent team work really is, did a first rate+ job and we are delighted with the installation. And the product itself? Even on a dull day yesterday, I drew nothing from the grid until evening time and the battery got charged to 99.9% by 4.30pm! Very pleased and would unreservedly recommend Ipsum.

Good Work

Everything was installed as promised, they were very respectful of our property and were very clean. The initial survey and quotes were carried out with a considerable amount of thought about our requirements. Their quote was very competitive on price. Two minor setting problems resolved online on the first working day.

I first approached Ipsum after our boiler packed up in early December. With the house cold, Ipsum quickly responded to my enquiry and came to do a site visit. Within a matter of weeks, I was issued with a comprehensive solution which included detailed modelling. This, alongside the teams clear expertise, gave me the confidence this was the right solution for me. The install was seemless, and completed in just 2 days, with ample time for a clear handover with the director. 3 months in and I couldn't be happier with how its transformed our home and has reduced our bills even through winter.

I live in the LE11 area and had solar panels installed in December 2024 by Fox, including a solar panel system, battery, and EV charger. Overall, I am very happy with their service. The initial survey was conducted very professionally, and the contact team was excellent — they were always approachable and willing to answer all my questions. At the beginning, I had many questions and explored different configuration possibilities, and I consistently received timely and helpful responses. The installation team was also very good. They arrived on the scheduled day and began work without causing any disruption. They even helped find a better arrangement for the structure of the electrical cables, which I really appreciated. Initially, I did not complete this feedback due to a busy period and some uncertainty about system efficiency during the dark winter months. As you can imagine, this past winter had very poor weather and few sunny days, and very few solar energy. However, after testing the system for six months, I am now confident that the installation was done to a very high standard, and I am very pleased I chose Ipsum to have it installed during winter. I am already enjoying strong energy exports now as the weather is very good for recent months. The Fox software is also easy to set up and use, Ipsum team also helped me to set up, allowing for simple management of import/export settings. The EV charger features several useful programs; one particularly helpful option is the setting that only starts charging the car after the home battery is fully charged, which helps optimise energy use without worrying about electricity consumption. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the service and highly recommend them.

Amazing Vaillant Heat Pump Installation

I recently had an amazing Valiant ASHP installation from Ipsum. Their team are some of the loveliest people you could meet and they’re really helpful. I received around 12 quotes in total and while Ipsum wasn’t the cheapest (but very reasonable), they gave me the vibe that they knew what they were doing. This was proven at the design stage (and even more once they came to install the system). The install was done to a high level of quality (see images). The team managed to install the ASHP, the cylinder, replace 4 radiators and install two new ones, in 3 days! The attention to detail was incredible. There were some hiccups (such a fault Vaillant sensor), but the aftercare was spot on. I think this is the most important as some companies would take the BUS grant and not help, so I really appreciated the aftercare. I’ll be getting my ASHP serviced by Ipsum going forward and when I decide to install solar panels, they’ll be my go to!

The whole team worked efficiently to get the installation done in three days, as promised. We're really pleased we switched to a heat pump, it's saving us money compared to gas, and is working well. There was a problem with the water pump soon after installation but Ipsum came and sorted out for us.

First Annual Service of my Air Source Heat Pump. Engineer arrived at the agreed time, worked quietly and efficiently and asked questions and provided information in a straight forward and comprehensive manner. A pleasant experience.

Ipsum to the rescue after solar installer went bust

Back in 2023 we decided to install a solar panel and battery system in our house. We opted for a well established local company with good feedback. We thought this would give us peace of mind. About six months later we began to have problems with the inverter and UPS. The support we had from the installer was woeful and eventually all comms ceased and we heard the company had gone bust. Contacted the Inverter supplier who advised the only way forward was to appoint another installer from their approved list to investigate and rectify the problems. From the approved list we chose Ipsum Renewables - this was based on feedback, locality and initial conversations I had over the phone with their customer support. Following a diagnostic visit it was identified that the UPS had been wired incorrectly and there was a problem with the inverter, resulting in random tripping events. A new inverter was supplied under warranty, and Ipsum installed it and corrected the wiring issues. They even arranged return of the faulty equipment to the supplier. All comms were dealt with professionally and quickly by Amy. And the guys who carried out the work were highly skilled, on time, polite and happy to discuss and demonstrate the system. We did have to pay for the work, which I was happy to do (the inverter supplier would not cover the installation costs). As I had paid for the initial installation deposit by credit card, I was able to claim back the rectification costs, in full, using a section 25 claim (This was easy to do on line and I had the money back within a week). So a big thank you to Ipsum for rectifying the issues we had - would recommend without hesitation.

We had solar panels / batteries installed by a company which went bust before issuing us with all of the necessary paperwork (in particular the MCS certificate). Ipsum Renewables were fantastic - they surveyed the system installed by the other company, wrote a report on the remedial work required to comply with the regulations and subsequently carried out all of the necessary work. We now have a fully compliant system and are able to export any excess electricity we generate. I can't receomment them enough, and my only regret is that we did not use them in the first place. All of their employees who I dealt with were great, and Amy in the office was very responsive to any emails and telephone calls during the process and kept me informed.

We were looking for a reliable, no nonsense supplier to fit an air source heat pump during the renovation of a 1930's semi, and Ipsum Renewables stepped up admirably. Great Heat Pump service. Got a service report with lots of before and after photos. Friendly, did a good thorough job, lots of things checked. Didn't feel like he was rushing and skipping anything. Answered all my questions about my heat pump and checked a couple of things for me (like flow rate), helped improve my settings (Weather Compensation Curve). Very helpful. 100% would use again and recommend!

We recently used Ipsum Renewables for our Solar PV installation. We chose Ipsum from a number of quotes based on; they came to site prior to quoting and did a full survey to ascertain suitability, system size and profile, plant location and cable runs etc. They were very technically knowledgeable, and provided advice and information on all aspects of the design and installation. Their quotation was very competitive compared to 5 others. Once we instructed them to proceed they obtained all necessary authorisations and clearances prior to agreeing a date for the installation. The actual installation to place as agreed and the team were technically knowledgeable, professional and competent, everything was installed in a neat and tidy manor, and left working and fully commissioned. Documentation and certification followed within days. The office staff have provided information and support through the installation and continue to do so post installation. I would have not hesitation in recommending Ipsum Renewables and have actually recommended they to my brother-in-law who then also used them.

Luke and the team fitted solar panels, battery and inverter for us at the beginning of 2023. The installation was hassle free and the price was right, so we had no hesitation in asking Ipsum to fit an air heat source pump for us. Initially, Luke came over to explain how the system works and the cost, no heavy sales. The installation was done mid December, over two days, with minimal fuss and mess. Again, a great team effort with Luke coming over on the third day to give us a tutorial on operating the system. Prior to having the heat pump fitted we had many gloomy and depressing stories told to us about how rubbish they are with cold houses as a result! Don’t listen to doubters, if your home is adequately insulated you’ll have no problem. When you have a heat pump you can go on the Octopus Cosy Tariff which provides cheap electricity twice per day.
