Great local company

Overall these guys are great, very efficient, knowledgeable and trustworthy and it's nice to support local companies. Our installation has not been straightforward, including not being able to to install as many panels as initially anticipated, some of the panels were going on a flat roof and are placed on a slant so are somewhat visible from the front of our house (which we weren't made aware of beforehand), within the first 24 after set up - the system surged the power of our house and we lost full power, and then more recently the system has not been working/syncing with our meter. Installing solar panels has been more complicated than anticipated, but Urbn Solar are very responsive and have done a great job to come out and to fix any complications or issues we've had, and it's all up and running great now.

Very satisfied with this solar energy company — responsive staff, neat installation, and excellent performance so far.

Having had a great experience with our 1st solar install using Urbn Solar we felt confident enough to book a second at home plus a large one at our business premises. The owner goes above and beyond and despite issues with the 'kit' on our second home install (not Urbn Solars fault) he is working to find a solution despite the manufacturer being less than helpful. Truly a company you can trust

Following a good experience on a Solar installation I received the opposite experience on an A/C installation. A job that started but was never finished, in fact the team were only on site for one day. A combination of the wrong units being delivered, an unfortunate injury (not connected with the job) and illness resulted in the job not being completed. The worst part was the lack of communication from Urbn Solar with me doing all the chasing by phone, text and email with no, or very little response from Urbn. Long story short I felt ignored and neglected. Contracts were originally for the job were agreed early July for starting 21 July. The job was cancelled by Urbn 8 Oct and the refund only received 4 Dec. I would like to be able recommend Urbn based on my first experience but given my second experience, especially the extremely woeful communication and being neglected I can't.

Think twice about paying large deposits to this company!

In August 2024, Urbn Solar installed a 10 Kw solar system to our property, and apart from not being told that it wouldn’t work during a power cut without an Automatic Changeover Switch (which we then had an additional fee to pay for), on the whole we have been very pleased with the installation and performance of it. Having told the owner when placing our order, that we wanted to be 100% self -sufficient, which meant that we wanted to change from a gas boiler to an electric one, the owner again failed to inform us (until after the solar system had been installed) that the solar system wouldn’t generate sufficient power to run an electric boiler to generate heat to radiators in the event of a power cut. This was important to us, as in the past, we have had one power cut a month during the winter period, lasting from minutes to hours. As my husband and I are elderly, we did not want to be without heating for long periods in the winter months during power cuts, and wanted to move away from expensive gas bills and take advantage of the power generated by our solar system. When we asked the owner for alternative options, he suggested Air Conditioning Units which could heat as well as cool. As we were also told that the system would also run at least one of the AC units during a power cut, we thought this seemed like a good alternative and asked for a quote. This was in the middle of October 2024. Having been given the quote, we were told that the work could be carried out the following week. We were asked to pay a large deposit (over 50% of the price quoted), which we paid immediately. Then . . . . NOTHING! The work was never carried out, despite numerous requests for them to tell us when the work might be done. In January 2025, we finally requested that our deposit be returned. Originally, Urbn Solar agreed to this, then changed their mind, then totally ghosted us – not responding to phone calls or emails. In March, we set the ball rolling to recover our deposit through the Judiciary system. Our hearing was just over 2 weeks ago, where the judge, having read a letter from the company (as they hadn’t bothered to turn up in person or send a representative) found in our favour – ordering Urbn Solar to pay a specified amount to us by a specific time and date. This deadline has since passed and guess what . . . no money! Consequently, we have applied to the Judiciary system to commence enforcement action. Can you trust a company who will treat their customers like this? Come on Urbn Solar, do the right thing!!!

These guys are amazing!

These guys are amazing! Honestly I don’t think I have ever dealt with a company as good! From initial enquiry with the guys in the office to the site survey and installation team. It’s been such a pleasure. We have had 18 panels and 19kW of battery installed which as soon as it was switched on has started to save us money. All set up now on Octopus for export and getting 15p per unit. Already made £35! Thanks again and looking forward to many years of free/cheap electricity.

An Updated Review

I recently posted a negative review of Urbn Solar - due to a series of issues that happened after we had the system installed last August (2024). The issues were nothing to do with the installation, the system or the workmanship, they were all excellent but were issues that occurred after the panels were installed. After I posted the review I was contacted by a new member of the Urbn team - Daniel - and they explained that the MD had taken seriously ill before Christmas and both the company and clients had suffered a prolonged dip in service. He explained that only a few weeks before I posted the review a new team had been appointed to run the company - there is a new client support set up and a new Operations Manager and he assured me they would rectify the issues immediately and that we would receive excellent service and support going forward. True to his word, Daniel had an engineer at our home just 48 hours later - and the problem was rectified. They have offered the guidance and support on how to operate our system to its optimum level - that we had been trying to get - and we have been assured that this level of support will continue - and all other issues have been resolved swiftly and professionally. Hopefully this will be our experience from now on. So, while I felt that the negative review I posted several weeks ago was justified – I also now feel that after seeing the new team in operation it Is no longer deserved and have written a new review that reflects the excellent and professional customer support we have received in the last few weeks.

After contacting other Solar companies to try and help us sort out an issue we had with solar panels & batteries on a house we had purchased and them not contacting us. Urbn were recommended to us, so i called and within 10 mins of speaking with a nice lady on the phone Jordan called me back. He listened to our problem and said he would be able to help, we booked an appointment and he arrived on time with a text notification 20 mins before arrival. 1hr 30 mins later Jordan had it all sorted and working like a dream. He explained everything, talked us through the app. Now we have found Urbn we shall be using them from now on for all our service needs for the system. Defo recommend to anyone who is on the lookout for a solar panel/batteries system, you will not be disappointed. Not pushy, very knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you so much Jordan for sorting it.

Great Service

Great service from start to finish. Unlike the larger power companies, they came to the house to see exactly what system would fit and work for us. Explained all of the available options with no pressure sales. Once ordered, the system was installed within 6 weeks. Jordan, the whole Urbn Solar team and the scaffolders were friendly and respectful of the property. Got 9 panels, EV charger, battery and Eddie system cheaper than Octopus quoted for just the panels and battery. Highly recommended.

Excellent service from start to finish would highly recommend great team of people pleasant friendly very professional and local what more could you want they even came out same day when I got a new router obove and beyond expectations thank you again we are over the moon with our install Update i don't normally do this but it's been over a year since we had our install and it's exceeded all expectations I can honestly say that this is one of the best investments I have ever made and if it keeps performing as good as it has it will have paid for itself in about 5years on octopus flux tarrif paying £50 per month was paying over £200 before install and that's gas and electric in a large 3 bed house So if your thinking about getting solar would definitely speak to urbn 1st class thanks again guys

Could not recommend these guys enough. No pushy sales, installation team respected our property and it was all completed in 2 days. System has been on for 4 weeks now and we are already getting paid back for exporting. Thanks again guys! Would highly recommend!

Dubious about finding a good installer…

Dubious about finding a good installer as there are so many horror stories. Urbn Solar have been a breath of fresh air for us! Give the Solar trade a great name. We had 10 panel 4kw system installed with battery back up. System works perfectly and the installation team were great and very polite! Thank you for your professionalism and great service.

Great company to deal with!

We received quotes from several companies decided to go with Urbn solar for our installation. We have 14 panels and 2 batteries installed. We went into their showroom in Beverley and had a look at the systems before having a site survey and deciding on what would be the most cost effective system for our energy usage. I ask a lot of questions and nothing was to much trouble. When it came to installation day the engineers were all lovely! Polite and friendly and are a real asset to the company. There was a slight delay on day 2 because of the weather but this was communicated with us and the installation was still completed on time. Aftercare has been great too, we have had a few phone conversations because I didn’t understand the app correctly and all was explained again. Really can’t fault urbn solar and so glad we went with them. Thanks again!
