Three years ago Dan Grace and his team installed our solar panels which all worked beautifully. The work undertaken was done very professionally and completed on time. A year later we requested another storage battery which Dan organized for us and was completed very soon afterwards. Our current contact to Dan was that internet provider had changed our router and we needed the new number connected to the datalogger. As before Dan arranged to come out and get us reconnected very quickly. My husband and I have very happily passed on our recommendation to anyone wanting solar pane installed to consider Thrift Energy if living in the Cambridgeshire area.
Thrift Energy installed our ASHP and solar panels after another contractor let us down. Everyone I spoke to was friendly, helpful and expert at what they did. They arranged a survey quickly and arranged a fitting date within a week of the survey. The guys who fitted out ASHP system were lovely to have in the house and did a brilliant job, keeping us in the loop with what they were doing and checking with us before making aesthetic decisions to ensure we were happy with the changes to our radiators etc. The team who installed our solar panels were also excellent: really fun and considerate, and they did a brilliant job. Dan who project managed the lot was great to deal with. We have had the ASHP and solar panels working for two months now and they work perfectly with no issues. I would happily recommend Thrift Energy to anyone looking to fit energy saving measures to their home.
Had thrift round to fit an air source heat pump and they really helped get things sorted quickly and with no fuss and more to the point no mess, they even took away rubbish that was awaiting the dustman, really helpful.
We contacted the Cambridge branch to install Solar panels to our house that we recently bought. The team is brilliant. Daniel Grace and his team did a fantastic job and they completed the installation in a timely fashion. Thanks team Dan!
Thrift installed Solar panels under a home impovement grant - did not turn up on the day agreed (laughed at me when I chased it and treated me like dirt), scaffolding was left for FIVE WEEKS after the installation was done, causing water ingress into the house and damage to the roof. Wiring installation melted and smoked, taking out our heating and hot water on the coldest week of 2024. When attempting to escalate issues their 'Manager' Daniel did not respond to multiple emails and phonecalls over at least 6 weeks. Daniel also blatantly lie about my 'agreeing to change the date' when no-one ever called me. Certificates including how to even use the installation, warranty etc took months to arrive even after chasing multiple times. Now I am stuck in a constant email chain trying to get compensation for the work I had to pay other people for to put all this right. Awful AWFUL!! Please folks read the other reviews and avoid these people like the plague.
We had a knock on the door from Thrift regarding EON grants as part of the council for Solar. It was specifically asked of Thrift if we had to earn below a threshold or be on benefits as we are always not eligable which we were assured it was not. Based on this we agreed to have a survey and booked time off for this. During the survey again it was confirmed that it was not required for the funding. Low and behold a week later we are asked for proof of eligibility that we earn less than a certain amount. If the company answered our query up front instead of blagging a lie it could have saved both our times and using time off.
Great company and would 100% recommend. You deal with several people through the process and all were excellent but a special mention to Will (installation team) who was just brilliant. He is someone who obviously cares and was excellent in all aspects and in particular communicating with us. Neil (sales team) was also good. There were no high pressure sales and just a pleasure to deal with.
Twice told me I was eligible for free solar panels. Never ever got in touch with me, always me who contacted them. After 5 months the first claim was dropped due to the eligibility no longer being available (even though I was told that because my claim was in before the cut off date I'd be eligible still) Came out did a second survey and lo and behold, after I had to contact them again, it turns out 2 months later that funding is no longer available. This company and EON are an absolute shower and a sham.
Recently had solar panels fitted by Thrift Energy, highly recommended. Everything was installed and wired up within 2 weeks, all the tradesmen used cleaned up after they'd finished working too. A* service!
Exterior solid wall insulation job on behalf of EON energy. They started off well and finished abysmally. My Mrs has a small plant nursery and over £250 worth of plants were decimated by the work. They seen the damage and took away the contaminated plants. After they took away the plants they asked for evidence of the damage, this was AFTER they took the plants away. I found it difficult to communicate with the workforce as their use if the English language is as good as my Romanian. Contacted EON and have had good communications with them.
We had an Air source heat pump and central heating system installed by Thrift Energy and they did a great job. Highly recommend this company to anyone looking to get a quality job done by friendly professionals. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would, best company I've dealt with in a long time.
Arranged an appointment for a survey, they cancelled then did not inform us, really unprofessional especially when you have arranged time off work and cancelled another appointment with another company who just do loft insulation. Made another appointment they were unable to accommodate a time I'm my lunch hour. Probably going to miss out on a grant funding due to this.
Used this company also for flat roofing with Green homes grants. We got an accepted quote and voucher. But then Thrift energy refused to do the work as they said was wrongly priced and costed by them .FOUR quotes later Green homes grants would not accept the over priced quotes. Thrift energy just fobbed us off. Wasted our time and money, still waiting for our deposit to be refunded. Would never recommend ever.
Used this company for flat roofing under the green grant scheme. They were terrible. Communication was extremely poor. They messed up quoting for the job so instead of being honest they fobbed me off until my voucher expired. Would never recommend.
Had my new boiler installed by Thrift Energy and I am so impressed. They arrived exactly on time, were really friendly and got straight on with the job . Everything was left tidy and they went through all the work with me , explaining everything that had been done and made sure I was happy with all the work before they left. I highly recommend them.
Avoid this company like the plague/Covid! They came round to install loft insulation under the Green Homes Grant. I was quoted for numerous measures including the insulation, hatch insulation, installation of hooks and eyes, sloping ceiling insulation and increasing loft ventilation. The actual installation involved 2 hours labour (2 men), and 8 rolls of insulation. Nothing else. I was then charged £1385 (which was more than the initial quote), including all the measures that were not installed. They tried to justify this through additional admin costs due to the GHG's. Manipulation of these costs to maximise profit through the amount of money they get from the government affects us all as tax payers. The costs were also said to incorporate the survey which I was told was free. So beware, if they come round to survey, you will pay for it as part of your final invoice. Bullying tactics then used by their commercial director Josh Raffo, saying that if the invoice wasn't paid by the redemption date I would be liable for the entire cost, i.e. no government contribution. They contacted me the day before the voucher expired! He also stated that someone would come round and remove my insulation. This is not just poor professionalism and a breathtaking lack of customer care...It is also illegal.
We had two people come to the house to assess if we quality for underfloor insulation. Both were fairly sure we would qualify especially after the second one, who was an assessor came and said we would. After a few weeks I heard nothing so I phoned the company and they said they would be in touch soon. I made a further phone call and they again said they would be in touch. We have had no messages or communication from these people in over 2 months. We cancelled an appointment to make sure we would be in. Thanks for the response if we had this or a similar message earlier we would have understood. your difficulties. All that was needed was an email to everyone. Anyway it is appreciated and we wish you all the best. Than-you
The worst company I have ever used. Steer well clear of this company, they have absolutely zero interest in helping you out. Their priority is to get the work done as quick as possible, and very poorly. I have damaged ceilings from continued leaks from poor workmanship. Myself and my partner have had to take many days off work to wait in for repair work and often been told they aren't coming. They have been reported to Ofgem so hopefully I can get somewhere as I have lost all faith my house will ever be repaired..
Quickly organised an emergency boiler replacement to restore heating and hot water after old boiler had packed in and parts unavailable. Fully explained the operation of the new boiler and left my property clean and tidy would highly recommend this company.
Came out emptied my cavity walls of rockwool and replaced it with poly bead. They also fitted me a new boiler 10 out of 10 work was carried out to a high standard they cleaned after them selfs. Great one to add thank you very much. Would 100% recommend us to anybody
