Excellent service and quality of work, I had replacement guttering and a chimney rebuilt, all the work was carried out professionally and to a high standard and at a very reasonable price too. Would highly recommend Lovatts and would definitely use them again.

Totally positive experience for full re-roofing of my house in Edenfield. The friendly and helpful workforce took care to get everything spot on. With no access to the rear of the property, scaffold and materials had to come through the house No mess or damage. Very prompt response to my initial request for a quote, and also on any subsequent contact. Very pleased all round. I recommended Lovatts to my friend who lives in Stockport who needed a flat roof replacing.

Lovatts completed my roof October time and they were great, communication was great and could not fault them very efficient and quick at getting a full new roof completed. Would definitely recommend!!

Truly: excellent. Lovatt’s have carried out work on my 1930s bungalow recently: last summer it was putting lead on the new circular door canopy. A wonderful, really skilled, real lead expert arrived and has done a beautiful job. I stop and admire it every time we go in& out of our front door! I’ve learnt from experience that you must have specialists to do lead work and Lovatt’s truly have the best. Then, last Saturday Lovatt’s sent one of their roofers, Craig.to fix my large, circular flat roof. He arrived before time, checked the job inside too, talked to me & disappeared onto the roof.He worked and worked without stopping, carrying out the awkward work so skilfully and fuss free and cleanly. Now I finally have peace of mind from leaks. I can’t recommend this company enough: I’ve had to deal with lots of companies in recent years & knew what to fear. But Lovatt’s office get back to you,reply quickly, make everything totally clear. Then their tradesmen are craftsmen and such hard workers. No standing about in groups having discussions then going off to buy materials on the day the job should start either! The materials were delivered the day before by a lovely delivery man who came back after the job to remove the detritus in a timely way too. So yes, you must have gathered that I am so pleased with this company! I recommend Lovatt’s to everyone needing roof work - without hesitation.Anyone who wants to see great work can look at mine. Wow! What a company! I’ll first put this into context. I’ve worked in the construction industry (supply side) for over 35 years, travelling on business to over 50+ countries around the world. I’ve had dealings with many construction companies during this time; small, medium and large. I also like things to be done right. So, I can say with good authority that RL Lovatt’s Ltd Roofing Contractors is a fabulous company. For us this was a major project which had the potential to be quite stressful. We definitely chose the right company. From start to finish RL Lovatt’s were totally professional in every aspect, from the initial visit by Stuart to assess our project to final pointing of ridges and cleaning the site after completion. They did everything right. The team in the office (Lucy, Lynne, Nicole, Nathan, Tom and others) were thorough and efficient regarding initial quotes, amended quotes, answering various questions and arranging the materials, deliveries, skips and schedule on site. Craig and Ryan! You have our professional respect. Traditional quality ‘tradesmen’ in the best sense. Grafters who always care about the work you do, even though you were here for weeks. Extremely low-maintenance compared with others that have worked on our house in the past. Thanks for doing an excellent job. We love our roof! Paul…thanks for looking after us and the job in general. Communicating and popping in at the right time and moving things along. What impressed us was the co-ordination of various trades required at different times and all contributing to a great final result. Steve (Higgy) the joiner was quick, efficient and great at what he did. The same goes for Steve and Mick the plumbers. That shared valley lead sump is a work of art. All members of the team worked hard and diligently, communicated regularly and openly, and went above and beyond to ensure total customer satisfaction. This is probably the best review I’ve written, and its fully justified and deserved. Five stars is probably not enough. Thanks to you all for caring about what you do and for being totally true professionals. *Update 22nd January 2026* RL Lovatt Ltd has just completed another roofing project at our house. As with the first project, absolutely fabulous service from start to finish. Again, Craig and Ryan did an excellent job. I've worked in the construction sector for over 40 years. Excellent company and five star service from start to finish. They carried out a re-roof and solar installation in Oct - Nov 2025 for us which has seen us in to winter with no issues at all. The lads who did the work were first rate making sure that everything was top quality, and the customer service was top notch. Whenever we had a question or concern they were always avaible to help even after the roof was on.

We had a new slate roof with solar panels and a flat roof section, each part done by a separate teams and coordinated perfectly so the job flowed at all times. The main slate section was completed by Danny & Dale who are very professional and skilled at what they do & a pleasure to have around too. I genuinely cannot thank or recommend everyone who was part of our job from Lovatts enough. Absolutely perfect and our bungalow is shining with its new hat. Thanks

Absolutely fabulous work- complete re-roof, replacement flat roof, flush mount solar panels, battery and inverter, and bigger profile guttering. A real peach of a job and highly recommended. I can't speak highly enough of Lovatts, from start to finish- informative, professional, craftsmanship attention to detail, and a whole bunch of really nice guys.

When the roof on my new dormer leaked with GRP covering failed straightaway i wanted to find a roofing expert who could fit a loose ply PE membrane, most companies offer rubber which I didnt want. Then i found RL Lovatt they were excellent in all respects qoutation, programme, site works and waste disposal. A 15 year guarantee provided on making final payment. I have just done a 12 month inspection and the roof is still perfect no leaves, leaks or standing water. Whereas my neighbour who has an almost dormer with a rubber roof is having a nightmare. Dont mess around use Sika single ply and get Lovatts to install.

We have recently had work completed to a shared outhouse flat roof. Both ourselves and our neighbours are very pleased with the finish. We can highly recommend R.L. Lovatt Ltd to anyone who requires roofing work to their property.

They fitted my neighbours new roof and left mine looking worse with many issues. Bonding gutter was installed on my side of the roof without my permission or a discussion. My tiles no longer sit flush, the clips they've added make it look like someone's climbed up and stitched my roof with needle and thread. Shocking customer service, manager Andy spoke to me like I'd inconvenienced him by complaining and asked how I'd like them to fix it. I'm not a roofer, I just want my roof looking less unsightly. I am having my roof replaced but I'll still have the issue of my tiles not sitting flush. At least I know what company not to use!! Can't write too much here as limited but I've added to Facebook if anyone wants to read full review. *EDIT: All coversations were recorded, at no point did I swear at Andy. And I was not aggressive at all, I did get an attitude when Andy and the neighbour both thought they could speak down to me, I may have swore but that was in conversation, not aimed at anyone. And it's a shame that Andys F2F communications don't reflect how his response reads here. He literally asked with an attitude what do you want me to do as I approached him, straight away heightening a frustrating situation.

Shocking Customer Service

My neighbour had a new roof installed by this company. As our roofs are old the new tiles used do not match and therefore the company decided to put in a bonding gutter. Having never seen this done before I thought it looked kind of odd to have this 'divider' between our tiles. The back of the house didn't look too bad from what I can see. The front of the house looks awful! The tiles next to the bonding gutter no longer sit flat, they're on an angle and it looks awful. There were gaps in my tiles when they refitted them-this has since been resolved. There was a gap of a few inches in some areas between my tiles and the bonding gutter. The tiles have now been pushed over towards the bonding gutter, which concerns me that to do this, there are now gaps in my tiles that without climbing onto the roof I cannot see. They put clips on my tiles to keep them in place, they didn't need this prior to the bonding gutter being installed and they look awful. It looks like someone has climbed up and got a needle and thread out and stitched my roof (also lots of these clips on neighbors roof). I personally think they look awful. At no point before or during the installation did the company contact me to discuss what was happening or to advise me that the look of my roof would be impacted by their installation. When their staff returned the Monday after I'd noticed all the issues with the front part of the roof, I pointed out these to the lads. One of who agreed that it didn't look great and wasn't what he would have done (he'd not been there the previous week). I later spoke with a manager-Andy, who told me that he'd resolve my issues. Monday, they installed the roof over the neighbours porch which connects to my bay window. Again bonding gutter was used and again this looks unsightly as my tiles no longer sit flush. The flashing removed from over the bay window wasn't put back correctly and had gaps on my side. This has been resolved. I obviously discussed with my issues with the neighbour and I emailed the company to put my complaint in writing on the Monday afternoon. By Friday I had not received a reply to my complaint and asked to speak to a manager. Andy came out to discuss with me and was basically arsey from the het go, like I'd inconvenienced him. His first question to me was what do you want me to do. This immediately got my back up as I'd already spoken with him and emailed. I'm not a roofer so I don't know what cam be done to resolve the issue to make my tiles flush again. I'd already sought legal advice, they'd told me that there could be issues with encroachment as there wasn't a party wall agreement in place. Andy told me that this wasnt required because they weren't encroaching on my roof per their original plan. He explained there was a mini stonewall that could no longer be purchased and because of this, they needed to install the bonding gutter as the old and new tiles wouldn't lline up. At this point they should have approached me as they needed to fit this gutter and it in fact is encroaching on my property. However, they continued with the job, irrelevant of how my roof would look afterwards. My neighbour suggested that the part of the gutter could be removed that was on my side, however I would then be responsible for any leaks on my side. Andy said lead could be used but could cause issues. So basically I had a choice of my tiles not being flush or be liable for any leaks because of the work they completed without my permission. Due to ongoing health issues I wasn't able to look further into this and just gave up and left the slanted tiles. Now, I am getting a new roof fitted myself in the next year but I'm still going to have the issue of tiles not sitting flush because of this bonding gutter issue. Andy said that its more than likely I'll end up with tiles that will fit flush with next doors tiles and the bonding gutter could be removed. I thought this would be the best solution but since found out that it'll cost me more to have it removed. So now I've got to decide if I leave it ir foot the cost for an issue they've caused. I've added a photo for context, my roof is obviously the old one on the left.

Our family home has a stone roof, an appointment was arranged with the office and Stewart arrived promptly and was impeccably polite and professional. Within a short time he returned an acceptable quote back to myself, The team led by John were affable and hard working, ensuring all aspects were carefully prepared and the outcome was achieved. Even when an unforeseen problem occurred, some replacement stone slabs were sourced, this was fixed without any problems as Lovatts had a supply in stock. Would I recommend this family run company? Yes without question, their attention to detail and their genuine care to do a great job was always evident.

Our sun tunnel was expertly fitted by Shaun within about four hours. The weather was extremely cold and the attic space very restricted. The room went from darkness to light once the job was finished and everything was left neat and tidy .We are therefore delighted with the outcome. Many thanks Shaun and we will call on Lovatts again for any roofing jobs that need doing.

Absolutely fantastic service

Absolutely fantastic service. Our roof had seen better days and I enquired about having it reroofed and having solar panels fitted. Everything was explained and options given. Once we agreed a price the wheels started to turn. A skip was delivered, scaffold went up and the roofers turned up to do the work. Everything ran like clockwork and very quickly. I cannot find fault in anything. As the customer they have kept me informed at every stage. They turn up when they say they will. They do a very professional job and everything has been completely hassle free. I would happily recommend them. I'm now sat here watching the app showing my battery slowly filling up off the autumn sunshine. Top marks from a very satisfied customer

Great company, and very understanding. I put the work off for over a year due to having alot of different work carried put on the house.Lovatts was very understanding and waited till I told them to proceed with the work. Shaun arrived on time and was very professional and never stopped until the work was completed. The sun tunnel he fitted was excellent. All boxes and waste was taken away and area left spotless . Can't recommend this company enough.

Replacement Roof

Lovatts recently replaced the roof of our terraced house following several years of problems with leaks. They did a great job, and during the recent heavy rainfall we were so relieved that there are no more leaks. As is usually the case with building work there were challenges encountered along the way but we were very impressed with the response of the team at Lovatts and their commitment to addressing our concerns and their customer-focused approach. They consistently demonstrated a genuine desire to ensure our satisfaction throughout the project, which made us feel valued as customers. I have a garage flat roof replaced, the two lads who have been doing the work have been very professional and gone out there way two complete the job. Can I thank Nathan the estimator who came back before works commenced to show my joiner what will be expected from him before they start the job. This company is very professional from office staff to the lads on the tools highly recommend them for all roofing works 👍
