Great experience from start to the end.

When our buyers Solicitor insisted on having a Deed of Variation lodged with the Land Registry, for our Leased Solar Panels, Izabela from A Shade Greener went out of her way to help ensure the process went as smoothly as possible to expedite the sale of our property. Izabela is a true proffesional and a credit to A Shade Greener, even updating us on Boxing Day. If like us you need to contact A Shade Greener then hopefully you will get to deal with Izabela and you can then relax in the knowledge your query will be acted on and expedited in a most professional way.

I would like to thank Shannon and Katie in helping with an enquiry in regards to solar panels fitted over 11 years ago. I had to provide a copy of a certificate which we did not have, also we had legal questions to provide to our solicitors due to the property being sold. I received everything that I requested within less than a couple of days, I was also emailed to ask if they could help me with anything else. They let me know that I could contact them at any time, if I required further assistance. They let me level of service and care was excellent, Thankyou so much for your help.

No need to worry about meter readings

No need to worry about meter readings, ours has been placed somewhere completely inconvenient which means th readings are something we don’t need to worry about. Francesca has always been helpful and has good contacts at the big energy suppliers if there are issues. They caught an issue with the inverter just before th warranty was up, and the company sorted shortly after. Overall highly recommend

Moved into a property in November 2025…

Moved into a property in November 2025 with my 2 year old daughter and partner. Had nothing but issues with leaks from the roof, to the point all power had to be turned off due to water leaking into the fuse board. Along with other internal damages to the house (damp brickwork, damp plasterboard and other leaks). A new roof was needed on the property, a shade greener have solar panels on one half of the roof. And working along side them in trying to get a house liveable has been nothing but stress and as a company have been no help at all. I feel like I’m being held hostage by themselves over the removal of the solar panels from my property. They send out a list of requirements that the scaffolding must be, wanting photographic evidence of it all. Only to have someone turn up and refuse to even set a ladder up. The roof itself has cost me thousands, the scaffolding hundreds. And the cost just keep growing trying to work to these demands. Even after phone calls enquiring why the solar panels had been turned off, they still wanted photographs of the damage to the house (after these repairs had been done and photographs already sent). So they could decide if my case was an emergency or not, and then arrange a date for the removal. So now I’m left with a roof that has been half complete, a house surrounded by scaffolding, and having to refer back to them for another new date for a ‘removal’. How do you pride yourself on customer service and satisfaction

Craig....getting us back online!

We were surprised to receive communication from the maintenance team advising that the solar panels, which have been out of sight and out of mind for 14 years, were not working. After discussing the situation with them and arranging a maintenance visit, Craig arrived a few days later—on time, equipped with all the necessary tools and a calm, professional demeanor. He quickly assessed the situation, explained the issue clearly, and outlined the steps required to get the panels back in full working order. In no time at all, the inverter was replaced and the system was back to generating solar energy. Everything was tidied and packed away so neatly that you would never have known Craig had even been here. Top man!

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS A GOVERNMENT SCHEME. I WAS TOLD THAT, IF I WANTED TO DO A LOFT EXTENSION, I JUST HAD TO INFORM THEM AND THEY WOULD TAKE THE PANEL DOWN FOR THE WORK TO BE DONE THEN, REINSTATE THEM. THE ENTIRE TIME, I DID NOT SAVE A PENNY. I changed MY ENERGY SUPPLYER THREE TIMES AND DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT. NONE OF THE ENERGY SUPPLYERS KNEW OR ASKED ABOUT SOLAR PANELS. THAT WAS PROOF THEY HAD NOT DONE IT RIGHT. THEY SHOULD HAVE HAD SOME CONTRACT WITH THE ENERGY SUPPLYER. THEY BYPASSED THAT. WHEN I ASKED THEM TO REMOVE THE PANELS TO DO THE WORK, THEY REFUSED AND TOLD ME IM NOT ALLOWED TO DO THE EXTENSION. I COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT I WAS HEARING. I WENT TO THE BOX AND SWITCHED IT OFF. I STARTED HAVING CALLS FROM THEM AND I IGNORED THEM. THE BUILDER TOLD ME HE WOULD TAKE THEM DOWN. I DIDN'T HESITATE. FAST FORWARD, THEY KEEP SENDING ME LETTERS SAYING I OWE THEM £20000. THEY THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE AND ACCUSED ME OF STEALING THEIR EQUIPMENT. I KEEP TELLING THEM TO COME AND PICK UP THE EQUIPMENT FROM MY HOME AND THEY INGNORED ME. THEY DONT WANT EMAILS. THEY WANT LETTERS BUT IGNORE MY REPLY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 2021. I GOT TWO LETTERS ON MONDAY , DECEMBER 22,, 2025 DEMANDING MONEY Again and causing unecessary stress. i give these disgusting evil fraudsters one star because there isnt a zero.

Our experience of A Shade Greener has been nothing but good. The panels have been in and operating fine since 2012. We’ve saved a fortune over the years and this year (2025) paid nothing for charging our EV during July & August. We also used the clothes washer and dishwasher for nothing in the same period. The inverter unit reached the end of its life last year (2024). A Shade Greener had it replaced within 10 days of discovering it had packed up. We had to sell a late relative’s bungalow fitted with ASG’s panels and they couldn’t have been more helpful. Ownership was transferred without incident.

No stars available. So had to go with one. Well done to the people who have managed to get a reply. I haven't. Started searching for answers and found loads of unsatisfied. Anyhow, only 10 years to go then they are coming off. I inherited them, no way would I have fallen for it. No offence to anyone who didn't realise. When we bought the house our solicitor said she can't see any problems with the company. So we went ahead. Seems like they were a shiny new company when we bought....So nothing to check up on. She knows now!

Absolutely horrible, roof was leaking called A Shade Greener like 50 times , no response and was chasing them for like 6 weeks and then I was told I can remove them by myself, then they come to collect then after 6 months, and after almost 12 months I was sent I notice I need to £20k for illegal removal of solar which absolutely unfair , I have notified Citizen advisor and told about all this and mentioned them all the customers review so hopefully A Shade Greener will get what they deserve. And last 10 years solar was never cleaned once. Absolutely 0 star STAY AWAY

Just tried to get help with my panals, this is the first time I've spoken to them in 15 years. To say they were useless is a understatement, if they think it will cost them money they won't help you. Go somewhere else for the solar panels

One word of advice, well three really. Don't go there!!!! The salesmen make it sound wonderful, how if you use electrical items at the right time of day, you will save so much money. It will cost virtually nothing to boil a kettle, do a wash etc. How they will give you and the 3rd party 100 quid if you refer someone (we did, but never saw any money come out way!) They tell you they will step in if on the rare occasion there is a problem in selling your property with these in situ, yeah right! We still pay 90 pounds a month for electricity and the condition of the panels is now really bad, loads of moss on them and no maintenance from ASG. We have had ours since 2014 and we have had a statement once, no communication at all. You write letters and don't get a reply. If you love pigeons you are on to a winner, they will take over your roof and breed every year. The cost to stop this is down to you the landlord, otherwise you are getting your gutters cleared 3 or 4 times a year of their disgusting poop and feathers. There is only one winner here, A Shady Greener as they are now known. Check out the Facebook group for disgruntled customers and consider very carefully.

We had our panels installed in 2014. We also have a smart meter. When we can, we put electric items on a sunny/bright day. The difference is amazing. I can do a full load of washing for 10p. We can put our electric fire on in our front room for zero cost if the sun is out. I'm not scared of putting the tumble drier on if the sky is bright. You get the picture. I am worried about maybe wanting to sell our house before the 25 years are up if we need a bungalow. We are both 66. We will be 80 when the 25 years are up (if we are still alive). Got to be honest. Only looked into how it worked for us (and it has). We've saved hundreds of pounds. Just last year we started getting pigeons on our roof. Will look into how much it will cost to put netting around. The pigeons are the reason for 4 stars. ASG should have done the netting when they put the panels up.

My house chain is going to collapse today because they are incapable of replying to ensure change over to new owners goes ahead. I am absolutely gutted, the whole chain of 6 people are totally fed up waiting for o reply to a begging to action an email. There is nothing wrong it's a simply a new owner. Disgusted with customers service you should be ashamed.

I have been with ASG for over 7 years. Unfortunately I have a leak now from my roof which has caused damage to my bathroom ceiling. I have asked the maintenance team to remove 5 panels so I can get the roof repaired. I am still awaiting a date for this and to be honest I don’t feel as though this is a priority for the company. I can’t have them taken away and at the moment I can’t get them temporarily removed. Meanwhile the rain still comes in the house. Possible date end of March. How much damage will this do. I spoke with the lady on the phone who in the end hung up on me. Customer relations non existent.

I bought a bungalow for cash and I was told by the Agent the solar panels belonged to me as the new owner. When I moved in, I discovered I don’t own them and the poor old lady that had died a year earlier must have been scammed into signing the agreement. I can’t see any real benefit and I can’t wait till I can get rid of them. These were installed before the industry was regulated and the company is making a fortune from my roof ! It would be good if disgruntled victims got together and demanded reports! I want to know exactly how much MONEY is generated from my roof and WHY it takes 25yrs to cover the cost of the solar panels !!

Awful company. AVOID. *Terrible customer service. *Faulty solar panels. *Company will not clean panels that have ben installed for over 10 years. I purchased a property with these solar panels already installed. I noticed they were only working intermittently. I contacted the company to inform them - its 6 weeks later, I've had 2 days off work to wait in for engineers to 'assess the site' - nobody had yet shown up. Now when I call, the inept staff at the maintenance office are unable to offer any appointment at all. When I've asked to speak with a manager, I was told that no managers work in the office so I will have to wait for them to review my case and get back to me. Obviously this will never happen. They are infuriating, failing to resolve my issue and failing to call back when they say they will.

I was looking to buy a property that has had panels fitted by ASG, The property itself, beautiful. Then I found out the solar panels were leased. I asked the agent for details on the lease and for details on early repayment. That’s were I found all these negative reviews. I really tried to find away around them. Up to contacting ASG themselves. The legal department, fully automated, leave a message and we’ll get back to you. They haven’t. Maintenance: lovely man on the end of the phone. But no knowledge of the companies processes. I asked how they make money on the solar panels if they provide 100% of electricity to me and he wasn’t able to explain. Gave me details to the roofing department. I was first in Que for 5 minutes and when I asked for detail on their processes “check the website. We can’t discuss the lease.” I explained I didn’t want details of the lease, I wanted to know what ASG would do if I needed help in an emergency. They said they couldn’t answer my questions. So I withdrew my offer for a beautiful property because I can’t take a 10 year (what’s left of the lease) gamble.

Disgusting service, you probably think you are saving on your electric bill but nothing changes. My bill is still the same, whatever solar panels are on there are just generateing ASG making money. It is a scam as they try to trap you in a contract for 25 years and just end up using your roof, leading to no electricity benefit. I had a problem with the sewage pipe, the solar panel installer cut it down in order to fit solar panels which only makes a one inch gap between panels and the pipe. In result all the sewage gases were coming into the toilet and the house smelt awful. I reported and sent the picture , they then wanted £250 for someone to come and have a look. They provide no help, and in my opinion are scammers.

Would not even give this company 1 star if I could. My grandparents who I lived with at the time had ASG solar panels and this is a review on their behalf. First of all my grandparents never received the full contract for the solar panels, my grandad is a bit of a penny pincher and when he heard that this could save him money he went ahead. It’s been nothing but problems and I’m glad they don’t have to deal with it anymore. The panels get in the way of selling your house big time so if you ever want to sell do not get these panels. They also save you next to no money, and if they do you definitely don’t see it, in our families opinion they are just making money off anybody who has them installed. Any damage to the panels they are supposed to come out and fix to the best of their ability, yet they are having people pay deposits that are in the thousands just to put the scaffolding up etc and are expected to just trust that they will get that money back. ASG also did not liaise with appropriate companies and add the solar panels to the grounds plans correctly (they said we had solar panels on the front when they were on the back), this caused huge problems when they were selling their house. I have also seen in various complaints groups that I am in that if you remove the solar panels via a professional external company to repair your roof if it is in need of urgent repair, ASG take legal action in court for the temporary removal of a solar panel breaching the contract and try and rinse you of thousands due to a “breach of contract” even though they do not come quick enough to remove solar panels in an emergency situation and can make you wait months to take off the solar panels so your roof can be repaired but are quick to put them back on as they lose out on £££. Sometimes they charge you thousands in a “deposit” like I stated previously just to take the panels off and put them back on after a repair.

I took up the offer of having solar panels installed by this company approx 10 yrs ago. I was informed that should my roof need work they would arrange removal so work could be carried out. So everything has been great until I contacted them in January to arrange removal due to having problems with my roof. My whole roof has to be replaced and they were also informed of this in January. I have spoken to them on numerous occasions and completed the necessary paperwork. They were told the date of the commencement of the roof repair, which is next wk. As I had not heard from them I rang a Shade Greener today to see what day next wk they were removing panels, only to be told they were not coming. I was very irritated by this as I have kept them in the loop since January. I was told the next available date would be August???? I am appalled by the service, rudeness and attitude of the employee I spoke to. She made it clear she could not care less! I told the employee on the fone that they were made aware of the date of the roof repair and I have done everything they had requested. I was told that i have to wait as they are 1, not in my area in may and 2, they have customers who have to have emergency work done. My roof needs doing sooner rather than later as the rainwater is pouring through the soffit, but it appears this is not enough for them. I have now had to rearrange dates with the roofing company. I am absolutely disgusted with the service I have received. As far as I'm concerned they can come and remove panels and take them away as not too keen on having them back onto new roof. Plus are we, as customers really benefitting? I'm sure ASG are getting more out of this than their customers. Awful customer service, which is just not acceptable. Think they need to be more helpful and work with their customers as they are earning money out of their customers!!! Looking at the other reviews on Google I'm not alone. However what have ASG done to correct the issues? It appears NOTHING! do not use this company.

Never use this company. I have signed for free solar panel convincing the word of A Shade a greener in 2016. Their representatives did not given the contract at all and they told me that they will post this in 7 working days. But they did not. Their man told me if you want them to move the panel, this will not cost us any thing. Just on and off the main switch few times. As I was trying to remortgaging the house Bank solicitor charged me £150. Shade a green was telling me that they never said in the contract that they will bear that kind of such fees. I have switched off their main switch a few times. They were threatening me like thieves. I asked them to move the panel. They were telling me that they will not do this until I complete 25 years. Now my roof is leaking. I want to change my roofing tiles. Asked them to take off the solar panel for a period of time. They were asking me to arrange scaffolding. They will remove for a period of time. To arrange a scaffolding will cost me more than £1000. Really this is a fraud company and legal thief. They do not explain to the custommer in the begining before they sign the contract. Once you realise, customer will be in the trap of contract and they will be helpless. Really speaking they were cheating me without convincing and giving me the contract. Now I am their slave. A modern form of slavery.

Started the process of buying a probate house at the end of October 2023. Everything seemed to be going well. We didn't realise at the time the solar panels were leased with ASG - our only concern was how long probate was going to take. How we were wrong!! We had all the paperwork at the beginning of January 2024 which is how we found out the house was on a lease. It is now almost the end of March 2024 and the only thing outstanding is getting the document ownership names switched but ASG are ignoring and not providing responses to us or our sellers solicitors!! Almost 3 months and still no result from them! What are they doing at their offices? Deleting every enquiry for an 'easy days work'? God knows if we weren't already this far along with the house we would have pulled out. No accountability from such a disgraceful money grabbing scheme.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Just a really poor excuse for a company, shoddy customer service and product aftercare. They have clearly ran out of money leftover from the government installation scheme, refuse to spend director profits and are now just running their service on the extortionate admin fees for letters and mortgage applications. Let me be clear; I'm a big fan of solar panels and imagine I will have them for years to come, but not with this company. I'm just counting down the days now till I can rip them off my roof and get different ones. Either that or someone will successfully sue them for breach of contract and set a precedent so we can all get out of their ridiculous company early.
