I had Rural & Country install an air source heat pump
I had Rural & Country install an air source heat pump. My experience during the sales process was really positive with the salesman seeming very competent and he filled me with confidence in the solution that Rural & Country proposed. Having selected Rural & Country the installation process was really positive, despite the work being very disruptive to the house those working on my home were really friendly and helpful and left a working system and the house in a very good state. So these are the positives. So why not a good mark? My concerns are that as an organisation that they seem to be overloaded, once I paid my initial deposit I was left waiting for the next stage the surveyor and heard nothing until I chased this up, then similarly having had the surveyor complete his survey I did not get a date for an installation until I chased this up. Perhaps it was a lack of patience but it was many weeks before I chased things up. Then on completion of the installation I had a number of questions on how to get the system working efficiently. Any responses to my questions were patchy and frequently would naturally ask follow up questions which when I supplied further information would not always get answered. These are the reasons that I feel that like Neil Peacock who posted on Set 17, 2025 I would conclude that the back office support is poor it seems to me that they just do not have enough staff to deal with their level of work. If I were to be asked I would recommend anyone looking to install an ASHP to find a local installer and to try to get personal recommendations. What makes it extra hard is that so many others seem to have such positive experiences which makes my lack of response from the company seem almost personal.
Overall Good Experience
Overall Good Experience. The strip out of the old system and installation of the new system ran in line with the dates that R&C advised, and the installation has been mostly stable since completion. The process to engage with R&C and speak to their pre-installation team was really easy, and Lawrence took a very pragmatic approach when looking at our existing set up and explaining what needs changing or what could be kept i.e. radiators. His advice has proved accurate, and the old radiators have been more than able to cope. Only downside was some snagging issues at completion, which were dealt with shortly after, hence 4 stars. I obtained two other quotes and R&C were also the most competitive on price after government grant.
Thorough and professional service of our ASHP
Cade, Rural and Country's engineer that came to service our air source heat pump, was professional and informative. We appreciated the care and time he took to carry out the service and answer our questions.
Excellent Service
Cade is very nice experienced Heating Engineer who did a great job servicing our Air Source Heat Pumps. Was thorough, helpful and excellent at explaining the control mechanism to a ‘Older Gen’ couple. We would be happy to recommend Rural & Country.
Very disappointed with the service from…
Very disappointed with the service from this company. Having contacted them re installing a heat pump and been visited by a surveyor....things then stopped. Frequent chasing resulted in the report finally arriving. Subsequent contact has not been responded do. Presumably they don't want our business.
Rural and Country - Reliable and Courteous
Rural and Country provided us with a solar panel array and battery storage this summer. They made the whole process simple and hassle free. From planning, via installation, to connection into the grid the R&C team gave us great advice and guidance at every stage. When the talking stopped and the work began they were as good as their word. The whole team, designers, management, administrators and fitters were approachable, friendly and most importantly helpful. We are delighted with both the service they gave us and the product they provided.
Average
Had an air source heat pump and UFH installed with Rural & Country. The initial sales and quotation process was very good and was very competitive. The installation itself was okay but lots of different teams work on different element of the installation and there was frequently issues between teams which sometimes caused delays and didn’t fill me with confidence. The process was lengthy (some delay caused by us) but as many by R&C which did drag out the process. The back office support is poor, it takes a long time to get help, always seemed to be out of the office for one reason or another. Felt to me like there were short staffed. Overall, was okay but couldn’t say I would recommend from my experience
We are very pleased with our heat pump and all aspects of the installation and service provided by Rural and Country. We wanted the hot water cylinder fitted in our bathroom and this meant space for all the pipe work was very tight. We were very impressed with the skilled work done by the plumbers in getting this difficult job done as we wanted. They worked very effectively as a team. The work took a week to complete and we were only without hot water for 4 days. Rural and Country have been very quick to respond whenever we have needed to contact them. We have no hesitation in recommending them.

Reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers appreciate the company's service, highlighting the staff's helpfulness, knowledge, and professionalism. Many reviewers mentioned smooth installations, punctual service, and efficient responses to any issues that arose. The location and the team's ability to adapt to specific needs were also praised.
New heat pump installation
Recently had a new heat pump and replacement hot water tank installed. Excellent service throughout all my dealings with this company, great communication too. Every member of the team was polite, efficient and professional, nothing negative to say, far from it! Just decent and genuine people, we shouldn't find that surprising, but a pleasant surprise all the same.
The price for the panels was the best…
The price for the panels was the best quotation we received. The installation was carried out quick and straightforward by the work men on our roof. Other Company's didn't explain as well as this one about the benefits of the panels which are working effectively for us. Mr Stephen shaw
An efficient and caring …company
WeIII have worked with rural and country energy to transform our heating system and substantially reduce our energy costs. Rural and country installed our air source heat pump, solar panels a.nd battery system, all to a high standard. they combined a knowledgeable and very efficient approach with a friendly and caring service ethic. I am severely sight impaired and they went out of their way to help and support me throughhout the whole process.
After researching and speaking to over 5 companies I decided on rural and country energy to install a mitsubishi 22.4kwh cascade system. Other well known installers wouldn't even look at my house because it didn't fit into a "normal" design. Not an issue with rural though. House is 306m². 9" solid brick wall. Working with the team at Rural was a pleasure. There was one or two snags that needed addressing but they were dealt with in a timely manner. Communication with Rural was good but there could be a small delay in replying as their system designer is onsite a lot of the time. Not a issue though, as all questions are answered. My system was installed summer 2025 so don't know what my winter performance will be but I'm a Home Assistant user and I'll be monitoring every Kw used. For DHW I'm achieving a average COP of 3.8 at the moment. 300L joule. Temp set to 50c. This is live power data as Rural installed a energy meter for each ASHP. I've a open energy monitor pulse sensor on the meter sending live data via a esp32. Advice for anyone looking to swap over to ASHP, run your gas boiler over winter 24/7 and with a max radiator temp of 50c. 45c better. House thermostat to what your comfortable with. If your house is staying at set internal temp, this will show you that your house will be suitable for a ASHP. A ASHP is designed to replace the heat that the building is losing at design temp. If you run it like a boiler, on off method it will probably cost you more. Research weather compensation. With the research I've done and the system design by Rural I'm confident that heating cost will be cheaper than gas. I do have 9.24kwp solar 10kwh battery. Somethings for potential customers to be made aware of. The MelCloud app isnt very good for 2025. Mitsubishi are updating it but there's limited data for a cascade system. One recommendation for Rural and Country Energy. With uses like myself that likes a good graph (I don't know why) it would be great if you could give the more techy users a option to install the open energy monitor system as a optional extra. I'm sure if I asked at the start it wouldn't have been a issue. Good luck with your ASHP journey. If your thinking of a ASHP give Rural a call. You'll be in safe hands. I'll update the review after 2025/26 winter. Alan.

The company's staff were friendly
The company's staff were friendly, clean and tidy, and efficient and professional. They tried to answer our questions, and explain clearly what was going on, and how the system works. They were obviously believers in green energy, and seemed to enjoy installing it!
All round decent firm to deal with.
Informative salesman in Barry, who also thought outside of the box to adjust to our needs. Friendly and efficient office team who respond swiftly. Installation was smooth and punctual. They did what they said they would and in the time frame agreed. We would use this firm again.
I was unsure about whether a heat pump…finding the right installer is fundamental.
I was unsure about whether a heat pump would be suitable for our microbore system and did not want the disruption of pipework or radiator changes. The first two companies indicated both would need changing and we didn’t get a visit report outlining installation details. Rural and Country arrived and made a very thorough survey of the property and assured us their system would function satisfactorily. The report was well detailed, very professional. Installation went head and there is a very high level of competence throughout this company. Any issues were quickly resolved. The system has been operating for 8 months and there are no problems at all. Dealing with this company is highly recommended.
Great service
Great service, great communication, the team always courteous and tidy. Cannot recommend enough
We used R&C ES to supply and install solar PV panels and air source heat pump as replacement of oil fired boiler. They responded quickly to a request for a quotation and gave a detailed report with useful advice. Prices were competitive. Installation crews for both systems were efficient and pleasant causing minimal disruption. One year on, both systems have proved reliable and performed in accordance with specifications. The company managed grant application and all necessary permits, permissions and certificates. We are happy to recommend them for this type of renewable technology. J&H Dumolo
Rural and country successfully showed us that heat pumps can be installed in old properties. To prove their commitment they came all the way from Cheshire to Norfolk to install the heat pumps and sort out the plumbing in the house. We are more than satisfied and extremely grateful for all the support.

New heat pump in Norfolk
Rural and Country came all the way over to Norfolk to instal the heat pumps and generally sort out the plumbing in the house. This was done efficiently, with minimum disruption and mess and we are very pleased with the result. The work was carried out over a 2 week period. Small extra jobs were done as well which was most helpful
From start to finish Rural & Country have been first rate. We have had heat pump, solar PV & battery storage fitted by this company over the past year. Good communication throughout & always friendly & helpful staff onsite.
When my old gas boiler needed replacing, I was keen to move away from fossil fuels, however I had read and heard conflicting reports regarding Air Source Heat Pumps, and was rather sceptical that an installation in my property, using existing radiators, would work. I contacted Rural & Country Energy, and a home visit was arranged. The information and advice I received was most helpful, and the company seemed to have many years of experience installing these systems. With renewed confidence I decided to go ahead, and I am so glad I did! The service I received from this company was excellent. The lads who carried out the installation in my property were polite and considerate, and their workmanship neat and tidy. The new system has given me plenty of hot water, along with a bungalow that is much warmer than it has ever been, even during the sub-zero temperatures we experienced in winter. I can thoroughly recommend this company and their expertise!
A happy sceptic!

First rate service from start to finish.
From the initial assessment right through to completion Rural & Country have been efficient & professional. I would happily recommend this company.
Excellent service fitting in with our builders was a bit tricky but they worked around the time schedules. We had ASHP fitted with our renovation. Just had the yearly service and all going well.
The company took trouble to work out the most efficient solution for me. Everyone who came on site was directly employed by Rural and Country so there was a single point of responsibility. The work started and finished on time, and I have been pleased with the outcome. As an all electricity household, my bills have gone down and I use electricity more freely now.
We are delighted with our Air Source Heat Pump which was installed by Rural and Country Energy a year ago this month. Everything we were promised is turning out to be 100 per cent accurate. Wonderful ambient temperature throughout the year and we are making substantial savings on our energy costs compared with our previous oil boiler system. The installation was trouble free and Rural and Country staff were very professional and always on hand to give expert advice. I would recommend this company unreservedly.
We decided to make what is a major investment for us in a solar battery system with backup capability, for both long term cost savings and energy security reasons. We looked specifically at R&C as they had already completed a neighbours installation and they were happy with them, whilst the other installer we looked at, quoted nearly as much for a smaller roof mounted system - we already had an old thermal system on the roof and wanted a ground mount in our paddock instead. We went with R&C and from start to finish and post install support, they have been excellent. Between Anna and Mike an appropriate sized install was designed, the planning permission dealt with and the install team did a great job, including a repair on a minor mishap! Post install we had a dodgy CT clamp, which eventually packed in 8 months later and Tia got one of the team out to replace it, with no issues since. The system has been running since April last year and is actually generating 15-20% more than the original quote estimates. The EPS has kicked on two full day power cuts without issue. Cost savings over the long term are impossible to predict (but someone has to pay for Hinkley Point B and the National Grid upgrades and you know where that cost will ultimately land), but combined with an EV, EV overnight rates and a good export rate, we are basically running a 4 bed house and a high performance car for zero electric costs, so we're happy! Thoroughly recommend Rural and Country.
Phase two of bringing my cottage into the 21st century is now complete - ASHP and solar panels successfully installed. A huge thank you to all involved. What a lovely company, everyone I’ve spoken to is so passionate about making energy usage more sustainable and economical. My cottage is old and a little quirky, but they worked with its idiosyncrasies and were very sympathetic. The ASHP and solar seemed a little daunting, but the support and explanations I’ve received so far have been excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Rural and Country.
Rural and Country have been such a good company to work with as we have had a heat pump and batteries (with some new radiators) fitted. We already had solar panels. They have been responsive, helpful, informative and supportive throughout this transition from oil fired central heating. Over the last 24 hours I cannot fault Tia who has held my hand as I have struggled with understanding how to use the App to track usage, how to set and change battery charging times and getting the App on my phone in the first instance. She has gone above and beyond what I expected. What excellent friendly service helping technologically challenged elders! Thank you Tia
Great experience with Rural & Country. We have solar pv system with battery storage installed on an outbuilding, but supplying the house approx 8 weeks ago. Due to the nature of the install there were a few infrastructure issues during install that caused difficulties. R&C were brilliant and had a team on site that stayed until the problems were resolved and everything was full up and running. The install is tidy, the fitters were clean, tidy and courteous. The team in the office have been a great help as well. All in all. A great investment and we can see the benefits already.
An excellent air source heat pump installation at our home, but initially with some operating problems. These were sorted out quickly by Craig, who worked extremely diligently through the whole installation, found what was wrong and made the necessary corrections. The system now working well in conjunction with the battery storage and solar panels. A really good piece of work and very many thanks to Craig and Rusal & Country.
Rural and country installed an air source heat pump with hot water cylinder at our character house. This company really seem to know their stuff. The heat pump itself is a really good unit and I am blown away as to how quiet it is and how hot the water it produces is. The install team were really friendly, tidy, considerate and the quality of workmanship was incredibly high. They ensured that the character of our house was protected by putting the pump in a raised location that other installers just refused to quote for. The only negative was a delay in getting a quote, but one of the owners rang to apologise and the job was completed really soon after that. Brilliant experience overall.
We were so pleased with the installation of our air pumps by Rural and Country that we have returned for a solar installation with batteries. Again, installers were clean and tidy while completing the work. The work was completed to an excellent standard. Systems were clearly explained by the installation engineers. Thank you to the whole team for helping reduce our carbon footprint and future proofing our house, we are delighted with the results. Plus, our electricity bill has reduced from £10 a day to £2 a day. Many thanks, Mr and Mrs Bowen.
This was a great investment as we live out in the country and were running on oil at the time. We already have Solar PV installed so really interested in the Air Source Heat pump alternative for heating. Rural & Country came out, did a study and came up with a recommendation for us. As we live in a bungalow, we asked if the water tank could be put up into the loft to generate hot water pressure as opposed to installing extra pumps and to free up needed downstairs space from the old system. No problems at all! Very friendly and professional service\installation from start to finish. This was all done a year ago and to say that it has saved us money in energy bills is an understatement, especially in this current climate. Very pleased with the result and have recommended R&C to several friends and relatives. A number of which have taken up the combined Air Source pump and Solar PV option. Fully recommend.
We used Rural & Country to upgrade our heating and hot water from oil to an air source heat pump. The surveys were completed quick and very informative, the installation team were amazing, helpful, knowledgeable, polite and went over and above at every stage. The back office customer support is not the best but queries were answered quickly. The system was commissioned with a great handover and demonstration of how the new system works, I was pleasantly surprised how quick the house warmed up and how quiet the system is. I would highly recommend the air source heat pump system and the installation by Rural & Country.
Recently had an Air source heat pump fitted, the installation team where great, they worked around my needs (home dialysis) and are totally professional in all they do. Very friendly and supportive ensuring we were confident in operating the new installation. The whole site was left clean all old boiler bits and other bits taken away. The new air pump has now been working for a month without a hitch. One of the senior staff talked me through the feed in tariff application ensuring there were no problems. So a big thank you to Rural and Country
