Hit n Miss with Boxergy...
Really disappointed in Boxergys post installation service.(installation was a good deal longer than promised but that was fine and a good job done). Now the EV charger has stopped working properly and Im finding myself continally chasing Boxergy numerous times to fix the issue. If I don't chase, nothing happens. 80% of the time, no one answers the phone. Messages are not responded to. A real shame as was reccomended to go with this local company.
Solar, battery and inverter fully working after 8 months
On the plus side the solar panels and battery basically work, have generated lots of electricity and saved us money. On the negative side it has taken 8 months since installation to get it fully working as it should, with little help from the installers. I enquired about a heatpump and solar, and the solar pre-sales service was impressive: detailed analysis of what was possible for our house, which pretty much made sense, so I went with Boxergy for solar panels, battery and inverter. Things slowed down a bit once I’d signed, but the installation started end of May 2025. When they arrived it turned out that the free car charging point included in the contract I had signed was a mistake (it was claimed that they had emailed this information after signing, but when I asked for the email I was instead told I’d been phoned. Oddly, I have no recollection of this). Two of the installation roofers were very junior, so it was clear by the afternoon of the first day (but after I'd paid most of the bill, as they required) that the advertised one day installation was not going to happen. Progress was also a bit slow the next morning and by the time they were ready to put the panels on the roof it was too windy to do so safely. As they had a bigger job to start the next day, they didn’t ‘finish’ our installation until a week after starting (but did at least store the panels in our garage, rather than leaving them outside, when asked). The first problem was then that the initial setup was incorrect, so that all the energy from the panels was fed straight to the grid and all the energy for the house was still taken from the grid. This was fixed after another week or so. They also labelled the AC cut off switch from the inverter as the DC cut off switch from the panels, which seemed a bit dangerous, and had attempted to correct a slight manufacturing fault in the inverter cover with the aid of a hammer, which had not improved its fit. These issues were eventually fixed. However, the system repeatedly drew power from the grid when it should not have: that is, when the load was well below the 5KW limit from the inverter and the battery was well above minimum charge. It would also draw power from the grid overnight when the load was low, but not if we forgot to turn something off, so that the load was a bit higher. Boxergy first claimed that this was all normal, and was down to transient load spikes when appliances were turned on and off. Given the amount of energy involved, and the fact we are not running a particle accelerator in the basement, this seemed unlikely. Eventually they said I should contact the manufacturer, alphaESS. I did, and, because the system’s measurements did not match those from our existing smart meter, alpha twice changed the meter for the system. This resolved nothing, and after about 4 months they suddenly announced that the problem was that our mains supply voltage was sometimes too high (over 253V) and this was causing the system to isolate itself (as it is designed to), and closed the ticket. They would only provide me with a few hours of system data to back this up, and did not explain why this explanation had not immediately been apparent from the system logs 4 months earlier (the user does not get access to these, only the installer and alpha). I bought a voltage logger, and it was indeed the case that the voltage was sometimes too high, and this might be what was tripping the system (albeit at a bit under 253V). So I contacted the distribution network operator. After much chasing and another 3 months they eventually tapped down our local subnet transformer. The mains voltage is now back in the statutory range and the incorrect usage has stopped. Over this entire period Boxergy offered no real help in resolving the matter, they just repeatedly asked for the final 15% of the payment, which I was withholding until the system worked correctly. The remaining issue was then the low load overnight grid usage. Neither alpha nor Boxergy offered any help at all here. Eventually I figured out that it is a known issue with the system, and there is a software fix that can be turned on, buried in the settings on the user App for controlling the system. Why that is unknown to the installer or the manufacturer’s UK subsidiary I can’t say. So, all in all, months of being fobbed off and days' worth of effort to get system working as it should.
A big mistake using this company!
A big mistake using this company! 28th November 2025 the system was meant to be installed. As yet the sola skirt is already coming off. Identifying that it hasn’t been installed incorrectly. We have had non of the paperwork done for the DNO or the the system commissioning. Damages our living room wall drilling through. We are on the verge of taking legal action. I heard this is the same for a lot of people.
Weeks of delays, broken promises and no finish in sight
Boxergy have repeatedly failed to complete my install, communicated poorly, and left me out of pocket and worse off than before the work started. I was originally told my heat pump and battery install would be completed together over two days, with everything finished by the end of the week, but weeks later the work is still not complete. The heat pump install overran, the anti‑legionella controller has still not been fitted, and the battery installation and commissioning keep getting pushed back with no clear plan. I was informed that a missing part was being overnight couriered, only to be told later that this meant a two‑week delay, and even when an electrician did finally return he arrived without the cables that were supposedly the only thing preventing completion. These delays mean I cannot claim my Home Energy Scotland funding yet, I am paying significantly higher energy bills because I cannot use the cheaper rate periods as intended, and I am effectively worse off than before the work started. Communication has been extremely poor throughout: I have repeatedly had to chase for basic updates, dates have slipped without explanation, and promises to “keep in contact the whole process” have not been kept. Given the cost of the system and the impact on my household (including being without proper heating with a pregnant wife at home), this level of organisation and aftercare is completely unacceptable, and I regret choosing Boxergy as a supplier
Bizarre routing of pipes
Bizarre routing of pipes. They come out horizontally tightly behind ASHP for 90cm then double back on themselvesfor 90cm into house. Closeness and tight spacing makes insulating a nightmare, causing insulation to be soaking wet and ineffective. Also, gave up on the Service Contract as I was told ASHP stopped working in winter because I dont have UFH connected to it. Never was impressed with the back up service plan.
OK installation, terrible aftersales
Contact and installation were OK, installer of panels was trying his luck changing the layout to make his afternoon easier. Aftersales is extremely poor, wrong breaker was installed which was extremly charred when we found out. Three months ago our EV charger stopped working. It took weeks before a electrician came to check the fault. First thing he did was take the live wire and cause a short in the house. He eventually determined the charger was faulty. Boxergy claims it contacted the supplier for a new unit, which is taking months now. We have to keep chasing them, no spontaneous communication from their side, absolutly ridiculous. Just order a new unit and discuss with supplier afterwards, incredibly customer unfriendly.
Great Boxergy green company
I contacted Boxergy to get a alpha b3 plus exspansion battery fitted got a price and date and they contacted me on many occasions, when the 2 gentleman arrived at 11-00am they spent 3/4 hours raising my system up the wall and fitting battery under so i can get a extension built around battery and they also fixed a fault that was created by previous installer.I highly recommend using Boxergy for all your green solar and battery system and other green products etc thanks Boxergy
Cannot speak more highly of the team
Cannot speak more highly of the team at Boxergy. From Kirsty and Dan in the office to the installation team, too many to mention but shout out to Jack and Stephen. Excellent installation process of Solar Panels and Air Source Heat Pump the cylinder location externally was a big selling point providing more space internally. Thank you again great job.
Just improve communication for extra *
Had a solar and battery installation done last year and it went extremely well from start to finish. The system is working brilliantly. I then decided to add an additional battery and phoned to arrange and pay for it. Again brilliant work. The fly in the ointment is their communication as an existing customer. You use the enquiry form on the Web site and get no response and I mean no response having tried it twice. You even email the CEO and get no response. I ended up phoning them to enquire about system servicing and installation of a standby power supply socket. I was informed there were issues with web enquiries not feeding through to their team. So as an existing customer call them or use a direct email not the Web form. Lesson learned. So the one star removal is purely on comms and in no way reflects on their service and installation delivery. p.s servicing went fine as did the installation of standby power socket so again 👍
Solar plus batteries …
10 solar panels and 2 batteries installed May/June 2025. Sales and pre installation excellent. Installation team excellent. A couple of issues post installation but responded to and resolved fairly quickly. Customer focused business I would highly recommend.
Great experience
Installation done professionally and quickly. Installers were on time and did a very neat job. Overall very happy with Boxergy
Experts in renewables that’s Boxergy
Having used Boxergy to install solar panels we decided to complement those with an Air Source Heat Pump. From start to finish they were again very professional and carried out the installation perfectly. We are very pleased with the result and the system is working perfectly. We would have no hesitation in recommending this company for renewables
Challenging start but a statisfying ending
Our heat pump installation got off to a rocky start. While the engineers who installed the system were professional and efficient, communication from the office initially fell short – leading to radiator sizing issues that left our home too cold. Thankfully, Sam stepped in and resolved everything with professionalism and care. He listened and addressed our concerns, as well as kept us informed throughout the process, scheduled work around our availability, and ensured minimal disruption. Our system now works perfectly, and we’re finally enjoying the efficiency of our heat pump. Huge thanks to Sam for his dedication. We’d happily recommend him and Boxergy to anyone.
Solar and Heat Pump installation …5 stars …
We were extremely happy with our solar and heat pump installation from Boxergy. We found Ben and his team to be straightforward to deal with and everything promised was delivered. Like most people we needed information on the subject rather than pushy salespeople and Boxergy were able to provide answers every step of the way. They also went over and above on a couple occasions because they see the customer as a long term relationship. I’ve purposely waited a few months to see how effective the solar and heat pump would be and have to say I’m really impressed
1st class service
Adam came to do our first ASHP service today. He was fantastic at completing the work, finding any issues from the previous installer and providing guidance on how to resolve any issues. Brilliant service
First Class install.
I took my time to choose who I wanted to install my solar panels and batteries. I looked at about 15 companies requesting quotes with several attending to conduct a survey before providing an accurate quote. Just like most people I done my due diligence reviewing the price, information provided by the company that ilincluded the equipment they would use. I looked at the reviews provided by other customers before making my choice. I met with Siobhan who listened to what I wanted and provided a package that best suited my needs. We spoke on a regular basis, as she kept me up to date with my options as I requested a tweak to the package. This was done quickly by Siobhan and a revised quote was provided very quickly. On the day of the install the team arrived on time, looking very professional. As soon as they arrived, they introduced themselves and informed me what they would be doing. These updates continued throughout the day. The electrician was excellent also. We had a chat about what I would like, offering his professional thoughts on the install. I looked at some other installs around my area, not completed by Boxergy I must add, and there were cables running over the roof in different directions. This was something I never wanted for my property. The electrician was on point and provided a great install. I cannot praise the whole team at Boxergy enough. They have been absolutely brilliant from start to finish. In the future I will get a heat pump installed, I will definitely be using Boxery.
Solar install
We got solar panels, an EV charger and battery storage installed by Boxergy. Siobhan and the whole team were great from start to finish. Professional, friendly and efficient, everything was installed and commissioned within a few days. Happy to recommend.
Really happy
Really happy with the experience with Boxergy. The staff have been totally professional at every step. They answer phone or email quickly, address issues straight away. I think the right way to look at it is they are big enough to do everything to a high standard and have great specialists, but small enough to care and take a personal interest in customers. The work in our house was very neat and tidy. We are happy with the completed installation.
Really poor experience with Boxergy…
Really poor experience with Boxergy sales team. I have no confidence in the information they provided yet they force you to make a financial commitment. Buyer beware
A responsive and supportive service
Boxergy were great from the start. When other solar companies didn't even respond to our enquiries, Boxergy replied quickly. Communication was good throughout and the team were very patient while we asked lots of questions and took our time to make a decision. Installation happened quicker than expected. We did have some issues following installation (hence the 4* not 5* review), but the team were responsive and willing to get everything sorted out. They've been on hand to support us as we've got to grips with the system.
