Sorted a problem but a £50 Vango went missing on the same day. Sketch couldn't look at me. Should've known better really.
Disgusted today. Been in waiting all day up at 9. And by 5pm still no gas engineer to do my council boiler check. I call office. Engineer was at property and no access. I’m sorry but he was not here. I was watching for him all day and have no engineer on my ring door camera today. And I do have a working doorbell linked to Alexa who announces someone is at the door. No wonder rating is 2.7. Raging.

We had a lovely engineer out called Keiren and another lovely engineer called Calum these to lads identified the problems over 2 days spot with their work and treated me with so much respect both of them they definitely deserve the credit thank you lads From Joan
I'm not sure where to even start. Poor communication, slow supply chain (I could personally source the parts significantly faster than them) & unhelpful engineers who sometimes turn up. Unfortunately been forced to use them due to Scottish Power boiler care. Avoid if possible.
Cowboy firm they came out to do a service 6 /1 /26 they switched off my boiler told me carbon monoxide leaking into the floo they came back out on the 8/1/26 repaired the part said everything is working fine that me bye Mr logan I put my boiler back on great heat at last , 5 minutes later the engineer came back ask if he could look in the boiler as he thinks he left one of his tools in it ,he look in the boiler found the tool and said sorry you can't use the boiler there is a gas leak a small pipe is broken I was so Angry as ive had no heat for 2 days I asked will it be done tomorrow he replied they'll have to order the part in we'll give you heaters I phoned city technical they said the part should be in on mon it'll be fixed Tues 13/1/26 I stayed in by 1100 I phoned them again the part isn't in yet Mr logan it will be tomorrow before we can fix it so we'll see today that my wife and i are 65 i have alot of health issues including vascular disease and low grade cancer absolutely disgusted with this firm our housing association ROSEHILL are just as bad that now 9 days without hot water and 2 stupid electric heaters for a 5 apartment i don't recommend this company unless you want to live in a igloo for a week

Cowboys Rosehill housing association uses this firm 6/1/26 we let them in to service the boiler it was condemned because of carbon monoxide leaking into the floo so it was switched off 8/1/26 Steven came with the part to fix it after the part was put in he said that's you Mr logan all fixed boiler is fine now then left great I had heating and hot water after 2 days . Steven came back 10 minutes later and asked if he could look in the boiler as he thinks he left a tool in it he found the tool then said Mr logan you can't use the boiler sorry a pipe going to the floo is broken I asked when would if get fixed his reply was don't know they'll have to order the part I asked well I've not had heating or hot water for 2 days I have a lot of health issues including vascular disease and low grade cancer he said they'll supply electric heaters later that night they handed in 2 small heater for a 5 apartment. Fri 9/1/26 I phoned city tech to see how long it would be to fix the boiler they said we're pushing for mon 12/1/26 if not it should be Tues as they're waiting for the part to arrive , mon 12 nothing phoned them again the part hasn't arrived 13/1/26 phoned again still no part arrive got a phoned later on that day they'll be out they've got the part it will get done first thing tomorrow 14/1/26 I surely will NOT RECOMMEND this company unless you want to live in an igloo for 9 days 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Cannot begin to describe how disgraceful, disrespectful and unprofessional this company are. An “engineer” came out emptied an expansion tank but missed a leaking pcv valve and a dangerous defect. In addition he touched my radiator and caused it to leak. The company are refusing to sort the leaking radiator as apparently it’s “ my word against theirs”. In addition, Emma the manager was extremely uncourteous and failed to try to resolve the situation. When challenged about her mannerism being unsatisfactory she said “ I know, but we are going round in circles here”. My opinion is that surely any manager and indeed company should work with the customer to resolve issues and help alleviate and diffuse situations not admit to being rude and challenge customers further. It’s too late for me now but my advice would be for all going forward to avoid this distasteful company. Wish I could give zero stars.

Great service from your engineer Fraser. He’s an asset to your company. Annual boiler service carried out today. Fraser arrived when I’d been told he would. Very polite, and respectful of property. Friendly and professional. Explained exactly what he was doing and detailed testing results to me. Very efficient service. I’ve had several annual services carried out by this company and have been happy with their work every time.

He quickly identified the issue, replaced a part in the boiler, and everything started working perfectly again. No heating or hot water for the past…
No heating or hot water for the past two days. No one taking responsibility. Boiler breaks every winter and we are always left for days with nothing or no real explanation. Terrible company.
They have left my elderly mum for a week now with no heater or hot water after 2 so called gas engineer visiting terrible company avoid them !!

We have dealt with city technical about 6 times now and have had nothing but excellent service from them from Shannon who answers the calls to our engineer Jason who has went above and beyond for us on more than one occasion Nevet had one issue with them ever

I honestly don’t even know where to…
I honestly don’t even know where to start. For years I have been having problems with my boiler having engineers come out and say no everything is fine. Was only when one actually decent engineer came out and said a part was broken and my full system needed flushed. This was done and an engineer came to replace the broken part another part broke, in this time my one of my radiators continuously made screeching noises and another would only heat at the top. My neighbour who is a gas engineer came and told us we needed new thermostat valves on them. We notified City Technical and was told this would be fixed and also with the one that had been cracked by a previous engineer. Today I experienced only what I can explain as being horrifying. I opened the door to the engineer before I can even speak he come barging past me “wheres the boiler” I asked him if he could give me two minutes while I get my husband from outside as I thought he would be better at explaining the issues we had been having. He huffed and asked again “wheres the boiler” so I told him it’s in this cupboard sorry I am just getting my husband. This made me feel really uncomfortable in my own home, he was pacing around my house going in my living room where my son was playing unsure why he needed to be in there as he was needing the boiler so bad. This made me feel so uncomfortable. My husband comes in and tried explaining but he kept walking away from us with his head down totally disinterested not even giving us a chance to explain, I tried to show him a video of the noise from the radiator but he barged right past me and went up my stairs. Meanwhile he has big muddy boots on making an absolute mess, never once asked if I would like him to put shoe covers on or take them off, he just treat my house like it was nothing. He then said our radiators were fine without even checking then said if he was to do anything else he would need to phone someone but then didn’t, at this point I suggested he just replace the part on the boiler then just there was no point as he just wasn’t doing anything other than make us feel uncomfortable. We had already spoken with the office about the problems and told this would be in the notes to the engineer so why??When asked about the boiler he shouted “you haven’t gave me a chance” bear in mind my son is there also. He said right that’s it done and “I’m leaving because you have asked me to and if we want them out again it would be two engineers” and off he went. My husband then called City Technical to raise a complaint only to be told the engineer didn’t fix the part on the boiler as he felt UNCOMFORTABLE! I’ve now just had an independent gas engineer out and replaced my thermostat valves on my radiators and every single one of them the spring had popped so no heat was able to get to them. I’ve since been told that someone else will come out to replace the broken part on my boiler but not holding much hope. Hesitant to let any of them in my house after the experience i’ve had. Treat us and my home like absolute crap probably because I am a council tenant, which I pay for every month with money from my OWN WAGES!! I would advise never to answer the door to these people when alone.
Dreadful service
Dreadful service. My 85 year old mother has been 5 days without heating or hot water. Supposed to be a priority customer. Staff at the call centre tell me they are far too busy to give exact updates. Would not reccommend.
Over 34hrs no heat or hot water because Ops Manager is too busy to look at a photo & order a part
Persistently having to chase for updates (of which there are none!) Chronic arthritis; three of us classed as medically vulnerable. Engineer switched system off 19/11/25 with water leak in cupboard. 21/11/2025 and the Ops Manager STILL hasn't looked at nor ordered the parts needed... which means we're heading into the weekend with no heating. P.S it's been -3 & -5oC all week !

Lies ! Lies ! Lies !, their letter said they would be attending on Saturday ( today), I then called to request an afternoon appointment. Of course as usual with City Technical when I called to explain I had been waiting for 4 hours I was told a barefaced lie that their driver had been out at 9am, and he had took a photo of my home entrance way. ( Insinuating that I didn't answer the door, it's ALWAYS your fault with City Technical) Their supervisor then called with more lies that their engineers don't work past noon on Saturdays. ( When their clerk clearly stated that they work till 5.30pm when I initially called.) I would therefore advise anyone who requires gas safety inspections, boiler maintenance, or servicing of any kind to avoid this dodgy cowboy outfit like the pox. For if you do get duped into employing them they will lie like hapless alcoholics to cover their duplicitous tracks. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.
Boiler making a hell of a noise
Boiler making a hell of a noise, vibrating through the house, Sounds like drilling, happening every half hour and last up to 2 mins but as I have heating and hot water (for now cause no doubt it will cut out) it's not classed as an emergency so won't send anyone out till monday (we're on Friday night just now) So Me and my children have to go all weekend, no sleep listening to this or switch my boiler off and be left with no heating or hot water!! Joke of a company! Last month I was left a week with no heating or hot water due to them making excuses of parts!
Someone come out to do a SERVICE. Instead takes a part that he says is not working to leave a family run home & full time workers with no hot water told we will have the part next day. Get a call to say they don’t have the part & wont know when they will have it & continue to leave us with no hot water. After all we had warm water till this worker came out. As I said to them why not take a photo of the part we need instead of leaving us in this situation. Poor service.
They are literally the most incompetent company I have ever dealt with. After 3 years of cock ups, false information and rude staff. I was given £400 compensationf rom legal and general. Who are the middle company between Scottish power and CTS. Avoid! I've signed up with OVO boiler cover. Half the price and twice as nice.! They came to service my boiler for the first time and condemned it. Off the scale emissions reading and claim it's never been serviced. I was with CTS for 5+ years. Absolute criminals that endanger lives!
City technical has too be the worst company I have ever come Across at fixing boilers ? The operatives are rude and obnoxious as well as incomparent I have had issues for the last 6 month's too a year they spot a fault get parts then the people the send fit them wrong or stay in the kitchen for hours calling other workers for help them the latest issue was Friday 18th July the person they sent was too fit a diverter valve didn't put it on properly not once but twice flooded the boiler and my kitchen twice was in for nearly 3 hours left and 30 minutes later boiler wasn't working again no hot water every time they say its fixed it breaks down within minutes of the so called engineer leaving it doesn't work again my point is they doo more harm than good ,incidentally this is Sunday the 20th July now called yesterday Saturday told it needs another part but parts department shut till Monday. Also asked for a complaints form told my complaint has been lodged and a manager would call me ASAP you guessed it no one has called me no hot water all weekend not good enough.
Received an email to inform me that my annual service was due on my boiler on 16th June for an engineer to come out on 30th June 2025 from 8am - 6pm. No engineer arrived and no courtesy call to inform me that the job had been cancelled etc. I’m self employed and lost a whole days wage due to this. This morning I received yet another email informing me that an engineer would be present on 14th July 2025. I had the decency to email City Technical and cancel the appointment and was give a short swift response “your appointment has been cancelled on our system, thank you”. No apology or explanation as to why the job never went ahead. If you’re looking for boiler and central heating cover, I’d highly suggest you look elsewhere. That is absolutely no way to treat any customer.
Thank you to the A Team, led by Dave Hopkins and his elite squad who replaced all the radiators, installed a new boiler and more and worked tirelessly and very cheerfully at our house this week. A big job in an old house completed ahead of schedule with kindness and consideration to boot and no questions were too much trouble. Thank you, we expected a nightmare and it was an exceptional job by this brilliant team of professionals.
Frustrated and angry
Booking made for someone to come and fix my boiler but same as other reviews no one turns up and you get no communication from CTS so you are left guessing what happens next. I should have know because this is the 3rd time this has happened. I will be cancelling my boiler cover and going with another company. CTS are an absolute sham of a company and I often wonder if anyone you speak to actually tells you the truth. I have called them 3 times today and was assured I would get a visit from someone today. Another day off work wasted sitting around it’s an absolute joke. Get this one the original call out identified a split olive was causing the leak and they would have to order the part. If I’m not mistaken these cost about 20pence each and is something you would expect that the engineer or fitter would carry in their toolbox. One call out and a return to fit a part so double the charge I see how it works? Local authorities could save a fortune if they withdrew their contracts and shopped around for a better deal.

I recently had my annual gas inspection. The chap who did this was exceptionally kind and thoughtful . He carried out a thorough inspection and was very efficient. Highly recommended.
I had a maintenance contract with Scottish Power who subcontract the work to City Technical Services. I logged a boiler fault which City Technical Services diagnosed as"Beyond Economical Repair". I called in a local Engineer who was able to repair the fault for £140 as opposed to £2,700+ for a new boiler! Additionally he estimated that I have another 5-10 years lifespan left in my boiler. Having seen the standard of boiler servicing and diagnosis of repairs, I won't be using City Technical Services and Scottish Power to repair my boiler again, neither can be trusted.
City Technical Services have recently…
City Technical Services have recently replaced my boiler and central heating system through the WarmWorks Scotland scheme. Whilst I was initially concerned at their negative reviews, the installation team respected my property, were hardworking, pleasant and also cleared up after them. Obviously there was major upheaval but all in all, a positive experience. Thank you Irene
Terrible service
Terrible service, got sent a letter about an annual boiler service. Take the day of work, don't leave the house and no one shows up. I also have security cameras so I know for a fact no one came to the door fron city technical. How they allow thier gas engineers to just lie about jobs is disgusting especially when they then send out threatening letters/txt messages claiming they are going to force entry to your home if you don't arrange access causing huge amounts of undue stress and anxiety because the engineers can just lie about jobs as they so please. To then try and arrange access and the person on the phone states " I'm just reading off what's here they said they couldn't gain access " Not even a hint of an apology or even pointed out how to go about making a complaint. Out of the 8 years staying in the same place this has happened 6 out of the 8. Engineers need to realise that thier actions have consequences, in this case they left a busy hospital ward short a staff member for a full day, as if the NHS hasn't got enough staffing problems
The one star in this review is mainly due to the Engineer initially turning up on the day that we were told he would. We have boiler insurance through Scottish Power and this is who they instructed to attend. We had a problem with the boiler and also the pump beside the hot water tank. Was advised that the pump needed to be replaced and that this would have to be relayed back and I'd hear back once the pump had been sourced. I called the following morning for an update and nearly got my head bitten off for daring to phone and ask when my heating would be getting fixed. Don't phone us, we'll phone you was the response. This was the Friday, left it till the Monday morning when I called again and didn't get a positive update. Decided to cancel the repair and phoned British Gas who had an engineer out within 3 hours. There was nothing wrong with the boiler and the pump and he had it up and running in 5 mins. Aside from the engineer turning up on the first day, overall it was a bad experience with really poor customer service.
Do not go with this firm
Like most people would give zero stars. I'm a Scottish boiler care customer subcontracted to domestic and general, subcontracted to city technical. The majority of times that I have a boiler service, they need to come back within a month. Boiler works fine when they are not around. They also gaslight you! Twice I've been told someone has failed to gain access to my property and that I failed to answer my phone! Both times I've been in and both times they never called! You waste days off work waiting for them. I'm disappointed in domestic general after seeing the amount of bad reviews, that they continue to subcontract to this terrible company. Asked to speak to city technical's manager. Wonder if I will ever get a phone call???!!!
A disaster of a company
I took out boiler cover through Scottish power who sub contracted it to D&G, who then sub contracted it to City technical. Our boiler stopped working in late Nov at a time of -3° in the evening. City took 3 days to get someone to look at our boiler and their call centre girl claimed it was my Hive system at fault. When the guy showed up he found the pump head had failed so took the pump away, only to find he'd ordered the wrong pump head and so we had to wait 3 more days. After removing the pump the boiler repair man did not tighten any of the valves and left the system pressurised so boiler water leaked all over my carpet and stained the kitchen ceiling below. I repeatedly called them and were told that a manager would call me back. That was 2 weeks ago and nothing has happened. The pump is now replaced and working, but we were without heating for 2 weeks with 2 small children in the house. When I tried to confirm when the boiler would be fixed, the manager I spoke to was very rude and showed no concern for our situation. I would never use this company again.
What a mess.
I took boiler cover with EDF, who subcontract to D&G,who then sub to city technical ltd. Including my annual service I had 4 cancelled appointments,I can accept that. I had 4 separate engineer visits to fix a problem, I can accept that. When the repair was carried out, he created a void around the flue inside. This was partially stuffed with brown paper and corrugated cardboard from the parts packaging and a tiny amount of filler? allowing a draught inside. When I questioned the engineer he told me that was it,that's him done???

This company is not to be trusted.I had my annual gas safety check to be carried out with city tech and they sent out a technician who did not do his job. This gas safety inspection has to be done once a year and it’s my landlord whitinch&scoutston housing association who requested it to be carried out by this company city technical.The inspection took place on the 4/10/2024 and the technician that came out to do the gas safety inspection did not do a full inspection of the gas appliance in my flat,and the technician failed to test the CMD detector and the interlinked smoke detectors.when I complained to this company city technical said that the technician did check the detectors and the technician didn’t put anything down regarding the gas cooker so they would have to come out again and do a gas safety check on my cooker.I got back to a Mr Callum McCulloch and told him I have cctv in my flat and if your technician said in his report he checked the detectors in my flat he would be on my cctv.I have reported this to whiteinch & scotstoun housing association but they have failed to get back to me regarding this serious matter.My message to city technical is stop playing with peoples life’s and giving them a false report on the gas safety certificate.Regards Mr Rees
Had an issue with my boiler. Gave the company a simple instruction for their engineer who ignored it completely. When I called to make a complaint I asked to be put through to a manager or the complaints department. The guy said the manager was just going into a meeting. I asked several times when he would be available and wasn't told. I then called back a couple of hours later and asked the same thing the woman then gave me the run around demanding I provide her with the information before claiming she was a manger herself. When asked why she did identify her self as a manager during the earlier part of the call she decided to talk over me saying she did give her name. Glossing over the fact I had asked to speak to a manager no fewer than 9 times. They have no clue what they are doing and have no respect for their customers. And don't seem to be able to tell you anything factual. Close them down and don't hire any of their engineers. Avoid them. Suffer frozen winters and illness before using these people
What a complete waste of time this company is. I am with ScottishPower and this is who they use for boiler insurance and servicing through domestic & general. The engineer came out to carry out annual service and found sample pipe where he connects a diagnostic device to had snapped off. There was leakage of carbon monoxide at this pipe and he made safe until a new part could be fitted. I also mentioned an intermittent fault code that went down in his report. I paid domestic and general £99 call out for the repairs to be done and then get notified by “city technical services” that the job can’t be done because of an access issue. There was no mention of this from the Engineer on the service day. The boiler is in the loft and there is plenty access to get off any covers and casings although being in a confined space. What am i supposed to do apart from cut away joists and half my roof off to make life easier for him? To me he didn’t want to do the job because there was not 6 foot of clearance around the boiler. All in all it has been a stressful event for me and have cancelled my Domestic and General boiler insurance and getting my £99 call out fee for a job that was never going to happen unless i demolished half my loft. Domestic and General need to stop using these amateurs.
Booked an afternoon appointment with City Tech, ( they call it a " request" like they're doing you a special favour). Wasted four hours waiting for nothing. When I phoned to find out why no show I was told " the engineer was at your home at 3.55pm," ( a blatant lie , either by the engineer or the cheeky, ignorant receptionist, or both working in tandem.) To expect folk to wait in all day or all morning or afternoon for these unprofessional piss taking liars to show up / or not is a complete joke. If you own your own home and need your boiler serviced or annual gas checked ?, I recommend you go elsewhere.
I'm going to be as fair as I can with this review. Like some other reviewers on here, I have had some serious issues with the workmanship carried out with my previous boiler system. And an engineer has had to come out and make good what was left. In two cases, I had to call the gas board out and the they capped my gas until the system was made safe. But, as said, although it was a pain in the backside, they came out the same day. In August, I decided to purchase a new Combi. And as I said, to be fair and honest, it was a week between the initial inquiry to the day of installation. The guys arrived at 8:00 and were away by 4:30. Now you would expect some upheaval and the guys that came didn't make as much mess as I had expected. The workmanship seems to be holding well and I've had no reason to call them out - all is working fine so far. The main chap managed to alter the original pipework so that no new pipework was required. That much I am grateful for. There was no damage done to the house interior. Therefore, I can only say, that the most recent work carried out in the replacement of my boiler was very good, and at time of writing this review, working well.
This company really went over and above for me, had a quote for my boiler on Tuesday and it was installed in one day by Thursday. Very competitive price which helps
Absolutely terrible, I have a policy with ScottishPower, who use City technical as their engineers. Since this company got the boiler service contract with Scottish Power I have had nothing but trouble. I had my annual service on 7/2/22, heating and hot water working when engineer arrived, during his service a metal screw broke, he informed me that he had to turn my boiler off and I would have no hot water or heating until the part could be replaced. He said he would raise a job and I would be contacted within 4 hours. No contact I had to call in and query more than once to eventually be told the part required ordering. Later that night I received a phone call from an engineer informing me that the part was van stock and an engineer would attend on 8/2/22 to repair the boiler, also received a text message confirming appointment . Took the next day off work waited until 1230 to call in only to be told there was no appointment for the engineer and they didn’t have the part after all now needs ordered. Informed them of the conversation with the engineer the night before only to be told they would contact the engineer and ask them to contact me. No contact, I again phoned in and was advised that a colleague was chasing it up and they would call me back urgently with an update. 2 hrs later still no call, I called again only to be told I was advised on my last call that a part is required and will have to wait until they have it, conflicting information provided from each person I spoke to, they also tried to tell me I had cancelled my policy on one call, just absolute lies. My last contact was that I just have to wait, no time scale as to when they would be out to fix the problem. Absolute joke of a company, leaving families with young children with no water or heating with no estimate as to when they will fix it. Also people saying engineers were booked in when they clearly weren’t and no contact to advise they weren’t coming. This is not the first time I have had similar issues. Constantly waiting on phone calls that never happen. Still waiting with no idea as to when they will fix my boiler. Complaints going in to Scott power and City Technical
