Following work to my electrical system the solar iBoost+ failed to work. I contacted Marlec and they came back with a solution the next day. My thanks to Taylor Meakin for his help in solving the problem. So good to be in contact with a company with such high standards of customer care and excellent technical knowledge.

Great ideas, but poor quality products (Solar iboost) that although does a great job, doesn’t last long enough to cover the initial outlay! 2 faulty products over the last 7 years. No support given by Marlec, as out of warranty. If they don’t payback, not worth buying in the first place. Avoid the iboost. Maybe time to try an Eddi.

The solar iboost+ failed after a few months. On contacting the company they asked me to uninstall it (I'm not an electrician, I'd have to pay someone to do this) and post it to them, as well as filling in various forms. I expected them to fix it. Not recommended. Subsequently Marlec sent me a replacement unit and Wallop, the firm who did the installation, got an electrician to come and fit it and it all worked fine then. Definitely recommend a solar IBoost, if ut works it saves lots of money.

I’ve bought wind and solar products for my boat. The information received initially was great. The support I received during installation was absolutely fantastic, I can not fault them. Marlec seem to be a company with old school principals!!!!

Superb products and outstanding customer service is what you receive when you politely approach any member of the Marlec Team for help and advice. I am proud to support this long established British company and will continue to recommend its products to those looking for a trusted and honest supplier. Well done "Team Marlec" you should be very proud. Thank you...

Flagged up my iBoost as faulty and within a couple of days was sent a returns notice. Sent the unit to Marlec for repair and had it back and re-installed inside 7days - in the week before Christmas! Now, that's customer service! Outstanding performance by Marlec.

We have an iBoost + iBuddy which was installed over 3 years ago. This is a great product which has more than paid for its self. We recently found that it was not working and contacted Marlec via email. They responded the same day and sent out a replacement fan. This was pretty easy to install and now we are now back up and working. At this time we appreciate our iBoost system more than ever. Brill product and great customer service.

I had great experience,.my iboost plus unit failed within warranty and the company resolved the issue quickly even though the installer had made an installation mistake. The unit has saved around £400 so far.compared with heating the water by gas..only thing I would say is the ability to buy and extended warranty would be useful.

It’s most gratifying to be able to post a positive review for a company that handled a problem sympathetically and swiftly. My SolariBoost failed just out of warranty, after inspection of the product they replaced it with a refurbished one. They weren’t obliged too but they did anyway. 10/10

These guys are tops, iboost fault Thursday, response to online form Friday, returned faulty unit Sunday, replacement arrived Tuesday. Simply the best, no quibble, customer service I’ve ever received. If you’ve got Solar, get an Iboost, no loose situation. We’ll done Marlec, brillient

I foolishly failed to secure my Rutland 914i wind turbine on my boat when a storm was forecast and the hub seized solid. The response from Marlec was excellent. It was efficient with very good customer relations and they made a very generous reduction in the invoice. I could not have asked for more.

I purchased and installed my Marlec Solar iBoost+ 7 days ago and so far I am impressed with the results. All my unused solar power is now being diverted to my hot water immersion, which can only be a cost saving. I don't normally write reviews, but this bit of kit is defiantly worth installing if you have solar panels and want to maximise the potential. Yes it is a little noisy, but I cant really hear it where my hot water cylinder is installed.

Had problem with our remote controller for our Rutland 1200 wind generator and the service received for rectifying the fault from initial contact to return of product has been speedy and efficient with updates by e mail throughout. Well done Marlec would thoroughly recommend them.

Having bought an iBoost 4 years ago my immersion developed a fault. Marley engineering have been very helpful with my questions even though the two year warranty has long expired. Solid British business, professional, considerate and diligent. Thank you.

I am now on my 4th iBoost in three years. First one went totally dead after 13months and Marlec graciously replaced, this lasted for 11 months. I decided to have my immersion replaced just to be sure despite only being about five years old. I had to pay them 120£ for a new unit which I have subsequently found to be refurbished. This lasted just over 4 months before tripping my circuit breaker and becoming display and totally dead four the third time. So as to be perfectly fair to Marlec I employed an electrician to thoroughly vet my system and find a fault, he couldn’t so another £100 wasted. Cost of two units £380, immersion plus testing £200 so it’s cost me close to £600 when I include postage and packing, what a waste of money and gut lining, don’t buy one! My new unit just arrived after some threats plus a boost buddy for my troubles, I don’t think this comes close. I am close to taking these people with support of lots of disgruntled customers to Trading Standards Watchdog and the Ombudsman. If this unit goes pop within the next two years I will be asking for support to get these charlatans closed down.

At first, the customer service was a bit daunting as you had to send different readings to them so they can evaluate the problem. My iBoost+ was 25 months old and way out of warranty but after speaking to Sarah, she said I could send the unit back for evaluation and if any fault was found, she would look at any cost sympathetically. They did find a fault and also told me that the iBoost+ should be fitted as close to the airing cupboard as possible and NOT in the garage, as our installer had done. A new unit duly arrived and to my surprise, at no cost to me. After reading some of the other negative comments, I can only speak as I find and say I am more than pleased with the outcome and with Sarah and her colleagues.

A company that is just not trying hard enough. We purchased a Solar iBoost from Marlec and had problems from the first 6 months. We got through 5 iBoosts in 4 years and Marlec were not interested in fixing the issue we had that would cause the iBoost to fail. From 5 units we had 3 different failures. As a unit the Solar iBoost seems a very fragile and with the constant failures we had, the cost of returning the unit to Marlec and the cost of an electrician to manage the installs the unit actually cost us more money that it saved. Marlec only offer a 1 year warranty and if you are looking to buy one of these units I would certainly look at alternative companies first, some of whom offer a far longer warranty period than Marlec offer you on the iBoost. In my opinion, if Marlec felt that there iBoost was a resilient device they would be happy to provide a longer warranty. For such a fragile device, a one year warranty is just not long enough to make the unit save you money which is what you would be buying it for.

Had an iBoost+ fitted, which does the job - but unfortunately the customer service of this company is absolutely appalling. Despite getting an installation in Jan 2020, I received one of their old products which conflicts with battery storage (the product was updated in April 2019 - so they must have a really slow supply chain). Customer Support just wanted me to spend even more money on the upgrade and wouldn't even consider an exchange. Couldn't recommend this company as a result.

Bought a wind and solar system for my boat and had a terrible experience. Very lower power generated and had to return the HDSi controllers multiple times due to them failing after a few months. I found the wind turbine and controller used more power than it generated, leading to a progressive discharge of the battery. I found the customer service very poor with arrogant responses to my queries. I wish I had never invested in the Marlec / Rutland system and would advise others to go elsewhere. There are better systems and better companies out there!
