The courtesy of a reply to simply say not interested in our project, would have been nice

GSM came out quite promptly and reviewed my ground pump issue, took weeks to order, supply, and install an expensive new part that failed to fix the problem. After extensive discussions about how to actually resolve the issue, they simply disappeared without a word, never heard from them again. Absolutely baffling and quite bizarre really. Eventually having realised they simply were not going to return my calls or come back to me, I had to call in a larger more professional company that can not only talk all the talk but follow through and walk the walk to resolve my issue … not sure where these guys went, are they still in business ?

GSM Limited : Solar energy company in Newent, Gloucestershire England Renewable Energy Installers GSM came out quite promptly within a week and reviewed my ground pump issue. The chap was pleasant and seemed knowledgeable about heat pumps. Realisation and hindsight is that it’s easy to talk the talk…. and you should realise when a company asks you to pay for a service they are going to provide in advance, that perhaps they are not too confident they do actually know what they are doing. If you are reading this you are probably screaming no you didn’t pay in advance, school boy error. But apparently it was their policy to take payment upfront and honestly he seemed a nice guy, plus it was a reputable local company, I see there vans around all the time in Newent and the Forest of Dean area what could go wrong … So yes I paid up front. It then took weeks to order the part we were advise would probably solve the issue, sadly once it was installed you guessed it, this failed to fix the problem. After extensive discussions about how to actually resolve the issue, this company GSM Renewable Energy Specialists of Newent Gloucestershire simply disappeared without a word never came back to me and never heard from them again. Absolutely baffling and quite bizarre really. Complete radio silence. Strange way to run a business in 2025 when customers have a voice and global reach. But I guess plenty of people are switching to heat pumps and as the chap said they would much rather fit new installations than work on ones that go wrong it was more profitable. Eventually having realised GSM Limited Newent simply were not going to return my calls or come back to me, I had to call in a larger more professional company, Hewers based in Gloucester, black and red vans, you can’t miss them, they are all over the pace. Not only can these guys talk all the same talk as others, but have the financial resource, meaning I didn’t have to pay in advance and knowledgeable people to follow through, walking the walk. Hewers resolved my issue, it wasn’t cheap, nothing seems to be in renewable energy, but peace of mind has to come before cost sometimes… not sure where these GSM guys went, 3 months later they are not going to ring me back… are they even still in business ? In conclusion, I have a nice new multi timer for ground source heat pumps fitted by GSM Newent that I didn’t and still don’t need, Hewers said they would remove it and throw it away, it became quite a source of amusement whilst they carried out their work. Whilst It’s no longer connected, I requested they leave it on the wall, it gives me a little smile every time I look at it … lesson learnt …perhaps for all stakeholders in this review, I tell everyone of my heat pump experience and why size does matter. After being let down by another company, I contacted GSM for solar and battery storage installation at my home. From the outset, it was clear they were far superior. They responded quickly, conducted a site visit within days, and worked closely with me to find the most suitable and efficient solution. They handled all the paperwork, installed everything swiftly, and accommodated my schedule seamlessly. Every team member was polite, friendly, and a true credit to the company—special thanks to Richard and Allen. From start to finish, GSM has been outstanding, and we are now mostly off-grid. The team at GSM were fantastic from start to finish. Allan took my initial enquiry for my Heat Pump issue and despite it not being a GSM install, was was very attentive. Cal the Heating Engineer did the initial survey and gave me an overview of the issue and a workable solution. James then attended to do the repair, 30 minutes and the heat pump was up and running. Great service, helpful team and a working heat pump = happy tenant/happy landlord.

Short lead-in time, GSM does exactly as promised. Installation went really well with friendly and efficient installers. Excellent office back up if required to help with paperwork or how to get the best from quite a complex system.

I recently had solar panels installed by GSM, and the experience was fantastic. The team was professional, efficient, and explained everything clearly. The installation was quick, and I’ve already started seeing savings on my energy bills. I’m really happy with the results and would highly recommend GSM to anyone looking to switch to solar!

I bought solar panels and batteries and the whole end to end experience was excellent. From survey to installation including promptly answering my queries, a great installation team who were polite and very helpful. I'm really pleased with the end product which was installed in a week. So pleased I had my ground source heat pump and solar panels installed 5 years ago now. Old stone cottage has never been so cosy and warm and I highly recommend GSM for their detailed explanations, swift and efficient fitting and excellent follow up and ongoing support.

An excellent installation from a totally professional team. The whole team had an eye for detail and I would certainly recommend GSM to anyone requiring solar/renewable energy. A first class installation well worthy of five stars that I have awarded.

Can't praise the team enough for the Solar / Battery install they completed for me in January 24. Had 16 panels, 5kW inverter and 9.5kW battery from GivEnergy installed. Team are knowledgeable and professional, throughout the installation everything was clean and tidy. The routing of all the cables is very smart, being mid terrace I didn't want to see the cable routes, the team was able to sort this out. Both the Electrician and Roofer were diligent, from making sure that the panels were centred on the property to the location of the inverter and battery to ensure the optimal position. Actively considering having the team back to replace the gas boiler with a heat pump.

Recently had GSM install 16 Solar Panels and a 13.5 kWh battery with inverter. I also had the consumer box replaced. This was a highly professional and efficient service with both the roofer and electrician working tirelessly to complete the installation on time. I was given an excellent quote and schedule that was adhered too. I would highly recommend this company for anyone considering Solar Panel installation as they were excellent from start to finish.

Shane and his team are amazing and have done a very professional and excellent job. Have had a 8.5kw system with a battery pack installed and additional cabling to future proof it. They are always on hand to explain the workings of the system and make adjustments if required. Highly recommended

GSM have been first class from start to finish of our solar panel correction job, (the previous installation by a different firm was defective and sub-standard). The booking of the first inspection visit was extremely simple to do on their website, as was booking for the job to be completed. I got to choose the date. The workers were polite, efficient and considerate and tidied up after themselves. The quality of workmanship appears to be first class. I am very happy to recommend this company for solar panel installation.

GSM have provided the best customer service; from clear initial quote, to polite efficient installers and out of the way helpful tech support getting everything up and running. They made my solar panel installation really easy and I would (and have) thoroughly recommend them. They are a pleasure to deal with, and go out of their way to make sure they look after their customers.

GSM was recommended by a local electrical contractors, who had worked with them before. David came to do the survey within a few days of me contacting them and everything was fitted and working in a couple of months. The solar panels and batteries are a great combination and allow me to sell the additional energy I generate and they have greatly reduced my energy bills! The app is great to monitor my usage and the support team have been great in helping me to understand how it all works and saves me money! Highly recommend GSM 😁

We have had a solar system installed by GSM. During the quoting phase, they worked with us to provide what we wanted and helped us specify a system that would work the best with the conditions that we have. We needed to do some work on the roof and GSM were very obliging about organising the scaffold to be installed earlier so that we could do the roof work prior to the solar being installed. The equipment was available for installation at short notice. Once the system was installed and working, they provided a good handover and showed us all the settings to help us get the best out of the system. In the first few months, there was an issue with the hot water controller. This unit was replaced without any question.

A 3.2kW system installed on a raised seam metal roof on a stone built out-building. Eight JA 400w black panels tilted at 30 degrees are wired as two strings on four panels. The Solax inverter and 5kWh battery are installed in the room below. A pre-existing underground 4mm SWA cable and a CAT5 Ethernet cable connect back to the house metering. Note the spacing between the two rows of panels and the use of half cell panels to minimise shading in the winter months. We were able to discuss with GSM ahead of the installation in order to provide a solution and equipment that met our requirements. All professionally installed easily within 2 days. There was a short wait for the triangular mounts. As a heavy user with an EV car and electric AGA, the battery storage on a sunny day provides most of the power used in the afternoon and into the night. We do not export very much but our off grid consumption is noticeably reduced. I can only award 4 1/2 stars as the handover document contains several errors which do not accurately reflect the equipment and system finally installed since the initial quotation. Could do better! GSM were incredibly helpful throughout my solar and battery installation - from initial enquiry, site visit, multiple in-person and email questions during installation and the handover. The installation team were reliable, thorough and the final setup is excellent - thanks to the whole GSM team for everything so far. I am also really impressed they completed what may sometimes be a 5-day job in 4 days. A superb service and highly recommended.

Excellent service from start to finish. After being repeatedly let down by other installers I was nervous but the GSM team delivered exactly what I needed when they said they would, quickly and efficiently. GSM were very professional throughout the whole process. The workmen were extremely polite and tidy whilst on site. The solar panels are working very efficiently to supply our electricity needs ( even in this summer!). A slight issue was rectified to a very high standard. All queries have been dealt with quickly and efficiently. Would definitely recommend them.

I was prompted to look at Solar by a local authority "Solar Together" initiative. Having got an "estimate" and outline through that scheme I had my doubts about the costs. I decided to contact local firms and GSM were recommended by a friend. I have to say I was very impressed with the whole process. Allan Farr was our PM - he came out scoped the installation and provided a detailed quote the same day. GSM were much more competitive than the previous estimate I had and the proposed installation and equipment felt better all round. We decided to go with GSM. The booking process was straightforward. The installation went like clockwork. Equipment and people arrived on time, were very neat, tidy and considerate when working in our house and very easy to get on with. System was installed in line with the schedule and commissioned and working immediately on completion. Allan was on top of everything throughout and visited after completion to go through all operating instructions and to provide all the necessary documentation to make sure we were happy. A month on, system is working as advertised and if anything over-performing output estimates. A great experience all round. I would recommend GSM to anyone considering a solar installation - in fact I have many times already!!
