We had an outstanding experience with FEC Renewables Ltd. Although they’re based in Rotherham, they came out to assess and install our system at our home near Newark-on-Trent, and the entire process was seamless from start to finish. Mark Alexander in sales provided clear, comprehensive explanations right from the beginning, taking the time to ensure we fully understood the system and our options. The whole project was then carefully planned and organised by the owner, Oliver French, who was equally personable and generous with his time and advice. Our installation involved a fair amount of paperwork, including obtaining a DNO certificate, but Jackie and Elise were always available to explain each stage and kept us fully informed as everything progressed. Nothing ever felt rushed, and any questions we had were answered promptly and clearly. Overall, this is a very impressive and cohesive team who clearly take pride in both their workmanship and their customer service. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend FEC Renewables Ltd to anyone considering solar installation. For our system, we chose the EcoFlow Power Ocean setup with two 5 kW batteries, a 6 kW inverter, and 22 × 455 W panels. Oliver managed to fit two additional panels for us, bringing the total system size to approximately 11 kW. We understand the inverter can handle up to 13 kW, and the batteries are stackable, with the option to add two more in the future should we decide to expand. The whole project came in on time and on budget at £11,655. As this was clearly a major investment, the payback period was very important to us. The OpenSolar prediction estimated a 5-year payback. However, after running the system for nearly a year and reviewing our actual performance data, my own calculations suggest it is likely to be closer to 4.5 years — which is even better than expected. Decided to go with FEC and the project went really well installed in December, we are up and running and very happy with the after sales support we received too.

FEC installed solar and battery to our house in September 2023 and we were so impressed with their professionalism and workmanship we got them back in January 2024 to install a heat pump too. They were great throughout the whole process and Oliver and his team were lovely lads. We got our EPC redone and got an A rating. For a house built in 1960 we didn't think it was possible, even the surveyor was surprised. We're moving home soon and if/when we decide to install solar and a heat pump at the new home we will 100% be using these guys again.

I moved into a new property and needed a boiler replacement urgently. Wanting to make an environmentally friendly choice, I asked about a heat pump installation, possibly with solar later on. The survey engineer who visited was very polite and reassuring. He told me that the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) grant approval would take 2–3 days and that installation would follow the next week. Based on that assurance, I decided to proceed. Unfortunately, the installation did not happen as expected. For about three weeks, I was told repeatedly that the grant approval was “imminent.” During this time, I had no hot water and was relying on updates that never materialised. I became increasingly frustrated because I had made my moving plans based on their initial timeline. When I expressed my concern, the conversation with the engineer became uncomfortable and upsetting. After that, I spoke with the company owner, who was courteous but again gave assurances that didn’t lead to any progress. At this point, I’ve decided to cancel the BUS application and arrange a standard boiler installation instead. I plan to send a written complaint with supporting evidence to Ofgem, as I believe it’s important they review how such cases are handled. I’ve also noticed that my reviews on trustpilot were reported and removed, which has made it difficult to share my genuine experience. Please be careful of the positive reviews on Tustpilot as this business is misuing the report functionality and bullying all the negative reviews to be removed. Internet is an open place and all genuine reviews should be made available to public who relies on these reviews to make decisions. I hope this one remains, as I believe all customer experiences—positive or negative—should be visible to help others make informed choices.

We are very pleased that we chose FEC Renewables to install our solar panels, battery, heat pump and EV charger. Oliver came all the way from Doncaster to County Durham to explain how everything would proceed and after comparing some other quotes it was a straightforward decision to go with this company. The installation took a week, starting with the plumbing team who replaced several radiators and put in the large water tank and heat pump plus kindly installing some new outside taps at the front of the house. Then the electricians who wired everything up and threw in a second light switch for our garage free of charge. Finally the panel installers including Oliver himself who turned up towards the end and made some improvements to the original design plus kindly helped me install some hooks in the garage wall to hold a barbell. Everyone was helpful and polite throughout. All has been left very neat and tidy and everything has been working very smoothly for six months so far. It did take about nine weeks before we could get paid for the energy we sent to the grid, which was a bit frustrating in such a glorious late Spring. However that was mostly out of FEC's control. After sales care has been excellent and just recently Oliver was very helpful with some advice about how to get the best use from our car charger via the app.We'll see how the heat pump copes with winter demands but up to now we declare ourselves very happy with the whole process and strongly recommend this company. If my parents decide to have panels installed, I will certainly point them in the direction of this company!

I've just had a heat pump installed by FEC. The process from initial visit and heat loss calculation to install and commissioning all took just over a month so super quick. Jason was so helpful and professional.....also the install team of 2 plumbers and 2 electricians worked as a great team and were very neat and tidy

FEC renewable installed a Solar PV…

FEC renewable installed a Solar PV array including battery storage at my house in Harrogate in 2023. This was an installation using the GSE in roof system on a new extension at the property. The whole process was well managed and everything promised was completed on time and in a professional manner. My system generated 5000 kW Hrs of power in 2024. Even with electric car charging and water heating we exported surplus power using Octopus energy and so far this year my account is £200 in credit. So I get free electricity, car charging, water heating and a bit of profit on top. It is a brilliant system. Great for the environment and my bank balance. I would strongly recommend FEC to anyone considering a solar PV installation.

From the moment I got in touch with FEC Renewable LTD, I knew I was dealing with a company that genuinely cares. It’s a family-run business, and that really comes through in how they treat their customers. Oliver was fantastic—he didn’t just send over a quote based on Google Maps like others did. He actually came out to inspect the property, took the time to understand what I needed, and gave a proper, thoughtful recommendation. He suggested a system with 10 x 450W panels, an inverter, a battery, and a new fuse board—far more comprehensive than what I was offered elsewhere, and at a very competitive price. What really stood out was the lack of any pushy sales tactics. It was all about what was right for me, which made the decision to go with FEC an easy one. The day before installation, I got a call confirming everything and letting me know when the team would arrive. They showed up right on time and just got on with it while I worked from home. They made the whole process smooth, personal, and stress-free.

We were very pleased with the installation, Day 1 installed the batteries, day 2 installed the solar panels. Installation very tidy no mess left. We are now very happy with the results roll on with the sunny weather.

Well priced, no-fuss, and efficient installation

It's always a worry, undertaking a large project with a supplier you've never encountered before, but I can't fault FEC Renewables. We had 12 solar panels, a battery, an EV charger, and an air source heat pump installed, and we're really happy with the result. In particular, I was pleased with how quickly the work was carried out. I made enquiries at the beginning of March and everything was done within 3 months. All the technicians were polite and efficient and Jackie in the office was a pleasure to deal with - always available, and always pleased to help. If you want a well-priced, no-fuss renewables installation, then I would definitely recommend FEC Renewables.

Heat pump installation

I was a bit reluctant to go with FEC for this work initially as there weren't many reviews and I thought the price may be a bit too good to be true. Very glad we did, the work was completed exactly as promised and the team of Tom & Paul were really helpful and tidy. Advice and changes to the system pre-installation were really helpful. There was a bit of a mix up around the initial sales visit and EPC certificates, but all sorted with no further issues.

We've had our solar panels fitted 2022…

We've had our solar panels fitted 2022 and are still awaiting completion of documentation. After all this time we've still haven't been able to claim any money back for electrical system feed into mains, due to not having received the required documentation.

Outstanding installation carried out by FEC Renewables. From start to finish the customer was kept informed of installation dates, minor disruption that may happen, progress of installation, completion of installation and commissioning of system. Also there for any technical information required after the installation. Customer deeply satisfied. Well done to all at FEC Renewables for their continued strive for perfection. A must if your thinking of having solar panels …

Had solar panels fitted plus eV charger, from the beginning Craig came to give us the quote and explained what package was best for us, not once did he put us under any pressure, everything he quoted was spot on with no hidden extras, even to the time the scaffolders would arrive to the solar panels installers to the electricians all arrived at the time promised by Craig, plus these guys are a credit to the company, worked hard all day and left our house clean, would recommend to anyone who is thinking of having solar panelling or ev chargers fitted, a very good family business with very good customer service, thank you once again

FEC Renewables fitted the air source…

FEC Renewables fitted the air source system in November at my 5 bed detached, I would spilt the process into three segments, general communications, fitting & support, general usage. Communication was OK, sales contact was fair, the process of house assessment was good, there was a grey area from original quotation to actual invoice, some poor communication in that area but this was over seen by the excellent fitting team (Tom and his Dad) so thorough, neat in tidy great workmanship and supporting advise as they went along. This made the difference, I didn’t mind paying that extra because of that, be aware your house is consistently warmer but it’s cost you in electric, (next project is Solar) Oliver the business owner was always on hand if needed

FEC installed a complete 12kW Air Source Heat Pump and associated storage tank in just over 3 weeks from quotation, site survey , installation and commissioning. Of the three companies we contacted they were the most professional and competitive. Communication has been brilliant and staff very efficient. Now looking into getting our solar system updated by them. Well done Oliver and his team.

Had 12 solar panels, battery storage, EV charger and an I-Boost fitted on our home. We had several quotes and FEC were competitive priced, polite and very professional. The installation is of high quality and works exceptionally. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Great fast and smooth service

Great fast and smooth service. All guys started the work on time, scaffold came first, installed fast without any damages to the property. All panels were installed in the pouring rain - hats off to the guys doing that job. Battery and inverter installed also smoothly. Nice neat and tidy job. Electrician dealing with it very knowledgeable, answered all the questions I had. So far highly recommend team and overall the company.

Very professional and helpful staff

I recently got solar system installed. The staff was great from start to finish.

After installing solar panels, we noticed pigeons nesting behind them. A neighbor, who has similar panels with guards to prevent birds and wildlife from getting behind them, recommended FEC Renewables. When we reached out to them, they provided two options: a solar guard like our neighbor's and wire netting. Both options were competitively priced and more affordable than other quotes we had received. We decided to go with the solar guards because they look better and seem sturdier than wire netting, which we've seen birds damage by pecking at it. The guards not only prevent this issue but also give the panels a more seamless appearance with the house. Oliver and his team installed the guards within a week of our initial contact. They completed the work in just three hours and left no mess behind. Thank you to Oliver and his team; I would happily recommend them to others.

We have been very happy from the service provided by FEC Renewables. Oliver has gone above and beyond to ensure the system was adequate for our needs and has been at the end of the phone if we had any questions. His team which installed the system was very polite & professional and did an exceptional job given the tasks of the number of Velux windows on the roof. From receiving my Solar Energy Proposal from FEC Renewables to install has taken under 2 weeks. Exceptionally fast and efficient company. Communication from the team is great, really appreciated Oliver (Company Director) reaching out personally. Bird proofing not within the teams vans on install day, however this wasn’t an issue - the install team went straight out to get some to ensure a timely fit on the same day. I am delighted to have the opportunity to leave a review of FEC renewables. From my very first point of contact I have found this company very responsive. We started with an arranged survey. The company representative arrived on time and completed the survey in about an hour I was left with a very professional quote and all the information about my up and coming system. The installation date was arrange within a week. and again the guys doing the installation were on time, very well trained and knowable and kept me informed (to me very important) through out the day. Any concerns I had was quickly discussed and I was left with total confidence they knew their job. They followed my instructions about wiring routes to the letter so I am left with a very neat installation. Within 24h despite it being a bank holiday weekend I had a fully working system, saving me grid electricity from the word go. The Company has been very responsive to any questions I have subsequently had. Frankly I would be hard pressed to find any faults with the company and process. The price for my system was very competitive and I would recommend anyone considering having a solar and battery system installed to get a quote from this company

Can't fault the effort that the FEC-R install team and Oliver put in to help achieve the first step into a friendlier footprint with renewables. Not quite to the exact detail of my original specifications (landscape orientation and would prefer for EPS to be wired) but close enough with working together to overcome challenges. I would highly recommend using FEC-R and when Oliver makes a site visit, explain every detail and he will deliver. Not the cheapest of three quotes but i feel the right choice was made.

The solar panels were installed during last December by FEC Renewables, as they seemed to offer far the best price-value ratio compared to the companies I managed to get a quote from. Almost a year has passed and the yield of the panels are already significantly more than what was predicted, which is great. On top of that, they do a very supportive, excellent customer service. I can recommend this company with full confidence.

I got 12 panels, 5KW Inverter and 8.6Kw battery installed. Installation happened with a day as promised. Apart from a few teething problems which got sorted promptly everything is working well with the system. Oliver, Craig, the electricians, Joe and Joe are a great team. After been told my house tiles was hard to work with as there rosemary tiles. I was looking for a company who could install on them and with confidence. I was worried and nervous about install but FEC Renewables reassured and I have to say I'm very Happy with my 5kw system and battery. All the workers was polite and worked in extremely hot conditions. Joe and Oliver have been fantastic for advice and even after the install. There was one incident with scaffolding hitting my bifold doors but was a accident and very apologetic and has been repaired with no hassle. I would recommend FEC renewables if your looking for solar panels. Even used my drone to capture some photos of the job 😁. Problem with solar panels performance at the minute hopefully get fixed Will update on my review after the fix. Issue seems to big fixed now. Most was givenergy updates in my inverter.

Contacted FEC Renewables for a quote, and received a visit from a very friendly advisor in Dan, he took us through what solar was, how to get the best out of it, and advised us what we needed. We agreed a price, and he was able to give us an installation date there and then. The team that did the installation were very friendly and knowledgeable, and did a great job, doing all in one day. Later that day I received a quick call from Oliver to check that everything had gone well and that we were satisfied with everything. All in all a very good experience.
