GB-Sol: Enormously helpful

As we live in a 5-storey listed building, we cannot install solar panels on its roof. So we wanted to build a structure to support a solar roof in a remote part of the garden and use the space under it as a barn to store garden machinery. We were attracted by GB-Sol's "whole roof" designs and solar slates that are virtually invisible. Their Rhiannon and Mark helped us enormously with technical advice, an honest shade test, introductions to builders and numerous quotations. In the end, we prioritised higher performance over aesthetics but it was a close run decision and still subject to planning.

Very pleased with the service provided by GB-Sol in fitting our solar panels. Excellent customer service and the fitting was stress free. Would recommend having bird protection fitted at the installation stage to avoid additional costs later.

GB Sol supplied solar panels, Givenergy Battery and Gateway for "Island mode" in the event of power cut as live in rural West Wales. System installed efficiently and with friendly, helpful staff. Good communications with the office staff too. The local Builder I used for the property renovation highly recommended GB-Sol as he had used on several property renovations in the area. I was able to get positive feedback from those owners before proceeding with GB-Sol..

I highly recommend GB-Sol. I had another company install the manufacturers - (GB-Sol)'s PV roof. Unfortunately, the company that installed the roof, did not install it correctly (it was not even square!!!) and as a result 6 years later, the internal plasterwork showed damp coming through. GB-Sol's customer service and after sales support was excellent. They supported me through getting the roof refitted correctly, by using their own amazing technician. It is now fit for purpose and looks good, as well as being under the FIT scheme.

GB-Sol have provided us with a great service, attending our property, servicing the solar panels, explaining how it all works - Paul the service engineer was fantastic. Furthermore we were given very helpful advice from Mark about installing storage batteries - could not have asked for more and we now feel fully informed about the pros and cons of storage batteries to complement our solar panels. Our solar panels are beautiful - they look just like slate panels on our roof and no-one can tell we even have solar panels at all. Definitely worth considering if someone is concerned about the appearance of conventional solar panels

Great Product & Service

Really happy with our solar system, they do the job and do not look unsightly. Our installation is on a listed building so it needed to be approved and also blend in, which they do. Now we have kept the look of the building period as well as being able to reduce the electricity bill. What's not to like ! Very happy with the service received and trust the system will serve us well in the years to come

The workers showed up sooner than expected and got right to work installing the solar panels and system it was done in a little over 4 hours before they left they told me about the system and where the reading was so if my electricity company asked for it I could send it.

Was a miscommunication at the start of the work being done, we wasn’t told the scaffolding team were coming or that work was starting the next day, man in charge was very apologetic about this and made sure we were communicated with going forward. The team installing the panels were extremely professional and friendly, were able to answer any questions we had, work was completed in a timely manner and the team made sure to clean up after themselves Would definitely recommend this company

Right from that first phone call, Danny Finlay and his team have been outstanding. Danny was ALWAYS available to answer my phone calls and visit the site regularly- his professionalism, attention to detail, expertise and dedication to quality ensured the whole process from quotation to installation and MCS certification, was seamless and stress free. I cannot thank Danny enough! Throughout the process, GB-Sol and Danny Finlay kept us in the loop. They communicated with regular updates right up to the final MCS certificate approval and gave insightful advice on SEG applications and maximising savings. The electricians were tidy, polite and pleasant. I was then handed over to Jack, who took time to explain the app (virtually) and assured me that they would be keep an eye on it remotely too, to make sure that it was all in perfect working condition. Danny oversaw my project from start to finish and made sure it was all smooth sailing. With these solar tiles that look very similar to my slate tiles, I now have a system that is cutting edge technology, tailored to my needs and gives me much confidence in my purchase. I would highly recommend GB-SOL for solar tiles.

Solar Panels Installed

The company kept me well informed of the disruption which was kept to a minimum, the workmen were respectful and I found that the work was completed in a timely manner, the scaffolding was up for around 9 days as per schedule and removed efficiently over a weekend. Apologies cannot remember exact date of installation, know it was this year.

Solar can save you money

Everyone was friendly kind Keep me informed about who was doing what work and when they be calling at the property Each job was done with kindness care and they cleaned up any mess if they had made some . I wasn't sure about having solar panels but to be honest I'm very grateful now I have them I have saved a little money and recommend them to others if looking and unsure about them they are fitted very quickly within a few days after checks on property so if your not sure about it believe me they are worth it

Brilliant company

Great company kept us fully informed with a schedule of works explaining each step and date of start and finish of each part of the process, they were efficiant,tidy and competent no fuss or mess and very helpful and polite. Even thought the weather was appauling at times they carried on. We now have a fully functioning solar panels and are already reaping the rewards, So thanks again gb-sol for a brilliant job. Excellent Project Management

I have been thrilled to have GB Sol on our projects. All aspects of their work have been good and the contracts management has been outstanding by Sam. Every detail has been considered and nothing is too much trouble. I would thoroughly recommend them.

This review is made from the point of view of an installer and so focuses on the product rather than the company as we are not the end user. Artimus Limited has worked with GB-Sol for over 12 months and has completed or has been involved in 19 installations; we have worked with both the PV Slate and Roof Integrated Solar systems (RIS). The first thing that stands out is the quality of the product and the outstanding aesthetics of the completed installations. The PV Slate system blends in very well with the appropriately coloured natural slate, and while if you look closely, you can tell the roof contains tiles that are not natural slate, the overall effect is very pleasing. It is an ideal PV solution where there is desire or need to keep a natural slate look and feel. The RIS system makes a statement and looks stunning on the roof. The system allows for full roof or part roof coverage and so is very adaptable thus providing optimum performance and aesthetics; it can even be made to suit non-rectangular roofs. This system transforms a PV installation into an architectural statement. In summary, I very highly recommend these products and would encourage prospective clients to contact GB-Sol.

When it came to finally getting our very old slate roof re roofed in new slate we enquired about GB Sol PV slates and were advised on the right natural slate to match the PV slate modules. As all the scaffolding would be in place for fixing the PV and we would be saving around 550 new slates by installing the GB Sol solution it was an easy decision to go ahead. After GB Sol came and did the first fix for in/out cabling and trained our roofers for the install it was easy for the roofers to complete the pv slate fixing and connections on the roof and everything tested OK. We were advised to install batteries which GB Sol provided and this enables us to take advantage of cheap off peak tariff as well as topping up with solar during the day. GB Sol also set us up with the DNO export agreement so we also generate income from the system which reduces our overall electricity bill. If you are having to replace a slate roof then we would highly recommend GB Sol PV slates, we found nothing that compared and the service was great.

GB-Sol Ltd were fantastic, they were on time, polite, worked hard, conscientious and left us with a great new solar roof. I have built and renovated houses before and if I ever do one again, I could not choose a better team. Special thanks to Mark, Garreth, Bryn, Jack and Steve.

PV solar slate is simply a superb product. GB-Sol is great company to work with; personable and professional. Brilliant it is a British company. Quality of electric install was great too. would highly reccomend.

GB-Sol have been really responsive and helpful with my PV installation. I don't think it's been the easiest as the numbers of installers are limited in the North East - the team has diligently worked through all the details including all the certification and communications with the regional power provider. The garage roof also looks great!

Designed and installed a custom RIS infinity solar roof for us, extremely happy with the result we get so many queries from passers by we should be on commission hahaha No other system like it in the UK, if you want a whole roof of PV this is the place to go

We installed PV Slates manufactured by GB Sol in early 2019. One of the great advantages of using a small local manufacturer was the support we received during the design stage and installation. Before placing our order we were able to visit GB Sol to see the product in person and work with one of their engineers to ensure that the system would meet our requirements. When it came to installation an employee of GB Sol came to site to instruct us in the installation process. The managing director even popped in when passing by to make sure everything was working out! We are very pleased with our installation and would thoroughly recommend GB Sol and in particular their PV Slates which look absolutely fantastic.

My personal experience with GB-Sol has been first class. Didn't want PV Panels that were sourced in China, wanted a UK product and the service I recieved from them throughout the ordering, intsalation and after sales period was excellent. Would highly recommend. Robert Read

Get the distinct impression that they can’t be bothered. I ask for something so simple it was untrue, more information on a few products! Get an email back saying someone will be in touch 5-7 days! Then when they finally do get in touch they don’t even read your original request! Edit: thanks for the follow up mark. Maybe next time abit more effort in your part wouldn’t go amiss as you did accept responsibility in your email. I give credit where it’s due and 1 star reviews where it’s also due. All I was looking for was information on your canopy’s but it didn’t happen. Kind regards Ben
