What customers say on
After researching about solar for weeks on end, and dealing with multiple companies and adverts that promise cheap easy PV solutions. (which, read the small prints we're not cheap or free as advertised) I came across Nightingale Electrical and I can honestly say what a breath of fresh air it was to deal with an actual company, with a personal service face to face, and actually being honest about the products and services they offer. No pushy sales or pressure, Barney and his team are a rare find, passionate and catering for all our needs. Very knowledgeable and will help you find the right solution for you. He even helped me with arranging a new roof which was in a right state and needed replacement. (During which, the other companies I had quoted, they said everything was fine just to make a sale, even though I could see the stars through it!) Honestly if you want a no nonsense honest approach about a PV system give Nightingale Electrical a call.
We are incredibly happy with out system and the service we have received from Nightingale Electrical. We had made up our minds that we wanted a full solar array on our South facing roof with battery storage and started to get some companies in to quote. From the nationals and big chains we experienced pressure selling and no scope of going off script, as when we had questions that didn’t meet their sheet, they had no idea what to say, so we decided to look for local companies instead. We had a few meetings and quotes and then met Barney from Nightingale. He came in person and viewed the site as well as bringing some ideas of what we could do and expect from a system as well as costings. Unlike some of the other companies it would be him and his team doing the work, and we had an instant feeling that we had found our installer. Unlike other companies, where we were trying to show them the door, it was probably Barney that wanted to leave as we ran him through multiple combos and ideas of what we wanted. When he didn’t have instant answers, he went away and got them for us. Quickly we decided we wanted a premium system, as the features we wanted fitted better within this category and narrowed it down to either a Tesla Powerwall or Solar Edge system. Barney ran us through the positive and negatives for each solution, and due to not having issues with shading we went with the Tesla system and 12 panels to fill the roof. Throughout this process I pestered Barney via Whatsapp, and he always came back with answers in a timely manner. We paid the deposit, and the team got to work getting approval from the National Grid for our export and getting us install dates. The work was split into chunks with the preparation a week before, of the full house back up cable being installed under the ground and coming up into the garage, so it only makes an appearance going into the meter box, and in the garage. The main solar install days were a couple of dawn until dusk days for the teams. This not only included the electrical team but Jon the roofer who made sure everything was perfect for the install. Due to a supply issue with the chosen panels, we had a last-minute change to a different make. This was not forced upon us, and we had the option to hold off, but the panels offered from the supplier were a higher spec (supplied at the same price) and Barney confirmed he had used them before with positive results. Our only disappointment was by the time the work was completed on the day it was dark. Barney and the team had worked miracles getting it all in, but moving preventing sunset was an ask too much, so we had to wait until morning. Like a child at Christmas we sat checking the app from first break of darkness until there was enough light to see generation. WOW! Was our reaction at the end of the day, generating 4 times more than we used. The Tesla system being incredibly easy to use and monitor via the app has made the whole thing a dream. The last chunk of work was the car charger. As we don’t yet have an EV it was more of a getting it in place/future proof so were not in need of it straight away. We instructed Barney to fit it in when he was next in Swansea rather than make a special trip, as we had total confidence in them to come back and do it. The install and provision of the charger again was faultless. The entire team were polite, clean and tidy and pleasure to have in our home. They cleaned up after themselves every day and took pride in the installation as can be seen by the photographs. Even little touches like making sure the smoke alarm matched the ones in the house so they could all be connected wirelessly, rather than just having a this is what I fit approach. Communication during the work was excellent, and we knew what was going on and timescales. We even had an ETA everyday via text. As I said at the start of this review, we are incredibly happy with the everything from start to finish
Couldn’t be happier with the top quality of the work, parts, the performance of the system and the overall professionalism of Nightingale Electrical. You read horror stories of solar PV and battery installs especially when the big nationals sub out work and contractors all work to a price. Going local with directly employed staff who live and die by the quality of their work and references was key to me. Easy to contact with any queries, before and during the install. Great explanation of the options available and an honest opinion on whether things were needed rather than trying to sell anything and everything was appreciated. Our East and West facing roofs were designed to maximise the coverage and electricity production whilst ensuring adequate margins remained as per the regs to prevent risk from gusts. Of the quotes and designs we had they were the only company to utilise the roof to the best within the guidance. Very happy to recommend Nightingale Electrical for Solar Panels and Tesla Powerwall 3 with gateway / home back-up.
Barney and Amanda were responsive and quick to deal with queries throughout, and patient with the process of us applying for grant funding for our battery installation. The installation itself was carried out with a very short turnaround time from the point of confirming. There were a couple of unexpected issues that led to the job running over slightly but we were kept informed throughout, and the team worked hard to complete the job without undue delay. Really professional approach throughout.
Barney was reliable and did a great job in my workshop fitting sockets, lights, heat detector and a new consumer unit. I will use Barney again. Thank you.
